Curiosity

"It's been a long time, hasn't it, Merdus?" The Duke of the Ferrer household spoke. He wasn't talking to anyone, but he was looking at the painting of the young men. Herena and Servous looked as if the old man was out of his mind. But then, when they notice how a slight quiver from the Duke's eyes begins to act, that's when the two realize something. The Duke was talking to the painting.

No, he was talking to the young man he was looking at. The portrait of the young man was smiling with the others. The Duke seemed to care for the painting. Herena realized that in that second, she saw an unfamiliar emotion written all over the Duke's face. He wasn't smiling. He wasn't laughing like those of the others seen in the painting. It's as if Herena felt like the Duke was sad. Herena knew that kind of emotion. She knew how it felt to look for someone she loved in the distance.
