MAVERICK'S POV:
My mom had gone, Levi was preparing himself to leave and I was getting ready to meet Natalie. I took my phone to call Maya and let her know I would be working from home, I felt a slight pain in my head. I would have loved to not go anywhere but if I declined I'll have to face my mother and her troubles.
"Good day sir" Maya responded over the phone.
"I'm working from home today, send me emails and reschedule any meeting I have today"
"I'm at your door sir"
"Oh really? Why?"
" I came to find out if you were okay and if you were coming to work" she responded calmly, that was so thoughtful of her anyway.
"You didn't have to worry Maya, well, come in" Since she knew the password already, I just asked her to come in.
"Who was that?" Levi asked
" Maya, she says she's -"
"Good day sir" Maya interrupted as she greeted me "Good day, Mr. Levi" She added bowing curtly.
" What's the color of your hair? I love it" Levi complimented before standing up to leave.
"Thank you, it's ginger color" Maya responded. What the fuck is ginger color? It was a ridiculous name for a color.
"See you later, Mav, and good luck with her" Levi said before walking out of the door. By her, I knew who he referred to because I told him everything from the night before in the bathroom. According to Levi, he loved her already for not being scared to speak to me forgetting she had that courage because she was drunk.
"So, Maya any emergency?" I began " I'll leave soon"
"I thought you were supposed to be working from home, but....you are all dressed" she sounded confused.
" Yes, but first, I'm meeting my wife-to-be. So, just send me all important emails and reply the rest for me" it sounded weird saying wife but I had to get used to it, I didn't know how long I'd be stuck with that young woman.
I saw Maya's face drop then she nodded.
"Are you okay Maya?" I asked
" Yes sir, I'll do as you've said"
"Good, ask Oscar to email me the details for the Hawaii project"
" Okay sir" She responded and stood up to leave. "I'll leave now sir, Goodluck and have a nice day"
One thing is for sure, Maya looked sick and but she said she was fine. I wasn't the kind of person to persist a person to let out a problem to me.
"Thanks," I said and she left quietly.
I took my phone and left the house, Eric was waiting for me outside in the driveway.
NATALIE'S POV:
When I got home that morning, dad wasn't home, he'd gone to work, mom was cooking, and Andrew was nowhere close by. When she spoke to me about sleeping over, she was calm. She said it wasn't her plan to send me off like that without a proper life but even she had no choice like I didn't have a choice. I felt sorry for myself that even my mother couldn't do anything to help. But then, she said she was happy it was Maverick, that he was a good guy and that I'll be safe with him. Everyone keeps vouching for him, what if they all are wrong? What if I suffer after I get married to him? What if he sells me off or kills me? You really can't tell an angel from a demon with just their looks. Because if not, why was he still single at his age? For me, it wasn't something normal.
"I know you'll say it's just shopping but still, you need to look elegant and appear attractive," Mom said placing a piece of jewelry on my neck. She had brought that one from her box, and she said it was going to suit me perfectly. She had also given me a black satin dress she got since God knew when to wear. She said she didn't want me looking timid or less.
"Even if I wore ripped jeans Mom, I won't look less, I own myself, that man don't, plus I don't see any need to impress him" I corrected her as she went over to my dresser to pick matching footwear.
"I know that honey, but these rich people don't know that, plus I still want him to find you attractive aside from the contract, that means, you need to impress him"
"Ma, we are rich too, we could afford everything we needed, plus...-" I stopped and looked out of the window, a black car drove into our compound.
"I think your guest is here mom"
She turned and walked to the window, " It's your husband now Nat, " she said and walked up to me. "Open your heart sweetie, you will find satisfaction, I promise you." She didn't know what she was saying, I will not find satisfaction in marrying a man I didn't know, and a man I didn't love. Then, she felt my face and kissed my forehead.
"It's not my wedding day yet, at least stop acting emotional," I told her and she nodded wiping a tear from her eyes.
"Get dressed, I'll keep him company while he waits. Wear those white sandals okay?" She said and left my room.
I rolled my eyes and looked at the dress on the bed. I wished he came to say the wedding wasn't happening again.
I wore the dress reluctantly, I could hear mom's voice, she seemed to be getting along well with Mr. Billionaire, I sighed as I pulled the zip of the dress. The dress looked beautiful and it made me look like a model. Maybe the dress would give me a little happiness for the day. I combed my hair and allowed it to pour down to my shoulders then I wore the necklace around my neck. The necklace had the letter S on a small star shape. Mom had an eye for fashion.

"I'm ready," I said interrupting their discussion. Maverick wore a black shirt with lilac trousers, at least he didn't wear a tie or jacket, thank God for summer. He looked too official for the occasion. I wondered if he didn't at least have some jeans or shots in his closet. His black hair appeared so shiny and it was styled backward. He didn't look so like an angel to me, I wondered what all these people saw in him. For me, it was just a handsome disgust and nothing more. I was going to ask him if he came to call off the wedding but on second thought, I'd that question to just my thinking.
"Okay, shall we?" He asked standing up. "Bye Sarah, it was nice speaking to you again," he said and walked through the door before me. What a gentleman indeed, he didn't even let me go before him, nor did he open the door for me. I stood for some seconds and watched him.
"Bye honey, " mom said bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Bye mom" I responded before stepping out of the house. "I'll be fine" I muttered to myself.
