I make it through the terminal groggily, dragging behind me my purse and one backpack, the plane ride being six hours long. Tired and done with being in the same vacancy with twenty other strangers, every passenger made sure they were up and ready when we landed. Everyone made sure that they got everything they brought and didn't look back. Halvor rubbed his eyes, waking up after I kicked the side of his seat. He saw the other passengers including me leaving and hustled, trying to keep up but not look like he was part of the same group.
Behind us, I could hear a bit of chatter going on. Grabbing his bags and getting a phone charger back from her, Kenneth upped the sweetness and told Lilith bye in an almost too cheery tone.
It sounded like genuine happiness for a second between the two as she said bye back. It was a kindness my father shows to his now happy ex that lives in the Bahamas with the doctor she left him for.
