We travelled in fear hoping that our last resort would be still available. It was as if we were buying concert tickets that were sold through the first come first serve method. Our fear was strong. We did not want to be homeless. I have felt it before and it was not a pleasant surprise. The smell of the food from the trash cans were not always a pleasant surprise. I still remember the feeling when I crawled to the cans everyday hoping that there was something there.
I still remembered the feeling where I would always be on the run whenever I saw a Silver hunter group. They usually travelled in a group. It was scary to always have to be alert. Sleep was not a necessity, it was a weakness.
As we neared Edward's island, we tried to hide or smell and contain our anxiety. Edward drove through the entrance. We heard guns cocking, ready to be used.
I taped my feet once and Edward swerved to the right and took a U-turn.
"Fuck!" He swore as we retreated.
Well, I could not blame him. Losing our parents is not the worst thing, it was losing all evidence that they existed that hurt. These properties where all we had of them. It hurts but we were used to such pain.
Oh well, what could we do? Cry?
We swerved from left to right in hopes of escaping.
"Call someone!" Jackson cried out.
"Who?" Sky asked, as usual he was pretty stupid.
How in the world did he survive for so long?
"The police?" Luna asked or confirmation.
We tried not to call the police too often.
Jackson nodded his head vigorously which gave Luna the green light to whip her phone out. Good with directions, Luna gave the location to the police as the car swerved from left to right. Within a few seconds, the car arrived. The hunter's car jerked. The did not even have the ability to retreat.
We smelled wolfsbane and knew that it was true. This time they were here for murder.
"Ma'am? May I know why you are chasing after them?" The police asked while holding both her hands on her back.
"They took my son captive." The lunatic pleaded.
They looked at me.
"What?" Chester yelled,"I just went out with my friends!"
Of course, even the police took the lunatic away and let us go under our request since we did not feel comfortable going with the lunatic. We however did leave Chester's number with the officer that had blue eyes and blond hair. From the name tag, it was Officer Chris.
We hopped back onto the van feeling safer.
"I know a place," Sky took over Edward's seat.
Well, now we did not feel safe. Well, not anymore. As Sky drove Luna and Jackson held onto the handles, fearing for their lives. As for me, Edward and Chester, we were alert the whole time making sure he did not bring us to the trap. We were not afraid that Sky would try to kill us, we were afraid his stupidity might.
"Are you sure we should follow you?" Jackson whined.
"No." Luna answered with another whine.
"Quit complainingwould you?" Sky sighed before taking a right swerve.
"Holy shit!" Jackson shouted," do you even have a driver's license?"
"l need one?" Sky turned around to look at us with a confused expression.
I stared in awe. Are we sure that putting our lives under this man's driving skills? I released my grip on the table and ran the driver's seat. Taking over the wheel, pushed Sky at of his seat. He looked at me, clearly offended. I could not care less, I was not putting my life under Sky driving skills.
"Alrighty mean bitch." He patted down his pants.
"Give me the directions instead." l sighed," I'm not so of a bad drive anymore aye?"
Edward peeked from the rear mirror and nodded admitting defeat. Sky had no other choice but to comply, he gave me the directions which took forever. The pathway we took was rocky for one second and smooth for the next. There were so many turns to take that even Edward and l switched seats several times. We passed through several forested areas, deserted areas and even more forested areas. However, we did not complain, the scenery was undoubtedly breath-taking.
"Can someone check the time?" Luna asked while looking our the window, "it looks...late."
In response I looked out of the window. It was past sunset, it was pitch black. I used my heightened senses to check for any potential dangers that were near us. l smelled something. Something unpleasant, something unpleasant.
Skinwalker.
"Bad news..." I tapped my foot thrice . (Go! Now!)
Edward stepped onto the accelerator as hard as he could. We held onto the side handles for dear life. I turned around to see a gorgeous wolf running at us. We, however did not stop, the wolf was not normal. It's legs were so quick that it was definitely not a wolf. It's cyan-blue eyes gave it away . It could not be a werewolf.
"Oh god, oh god, oh god. Skinwalker. Skinwalker. Skinwalker." Chester panicked, "Mother told me about them as a kid! It ain't fun, l had nightmares for nights."
"Well, it ain't the time to hear your grandmother story!" Jackson turned over to Chester with a sarcastic smile.
"Alright, alright..." Chester was high alert.
He was not a werewolf which wearing meant heavy disadvantage. However, he did have good knowledge. I guessed it was better than nothing. We looked around. from left to right and front to back. God, where exactly was this Skinwalker? It smelled close. Well, too close for comfort. We continued driving, speeding up every time we heard or smelled the Skinwalker.
"The more we do this, the more we would run out of gas!" Edward panicked.
"We do have a gas station up ahead right?" Luna questioned.
"Yes. We do, however uhh, who's getting out of the van?" Chester's voice filled with fear.
Our heads automatically turned Sky. He in turn , looked at us in awe.
"Well? Stop looking at me! " Sky whined.
"The door will be ready for you to enter if you smell Skinwalker." Edward comforted.
"I hate kids," Sky complained once more.
"Oh would act like an adult for once?" Chester snapped with a increased panicked tone.
We continued our drive. Of course, with more and different kinds of quarrels. The drive was indeed unpleasant. With anger, panic, fear and irritation. The air was filthy, too filthy.
