Familiar stranger

Emilia's P.O.V

"Mummy look, it's a butterfly". The little girl pointed excitedly.

"Yes baby. A beautiful butterfly, like my beautiful princess". Her mum cupped her cheeks with a bright smile..

"I want to have it". The girl said, jumping down from the chair which her mum had placed her on..

"Now now, don't run around baby". Her mum warned, but the little girl was way too interested in getting the butterfly that she didn't pay heed to what her mother was saying. The butterfly flew away as soon as she was getting close. The little girl frowned but wouldn't give up, as she chased the butterfly, ignoring the cries of her mother.

As she ran into the woods, she finally caught sight of the butterfly and was sneaking up on it when suddenly, a wolf-like figure jumped out.

At first she shrieked, but calmed when she saw it was one of her kind, but only bigger, and fiercer..

"Who are you?". She asked, coming close cautiously.

"Your worse nightmare".

"Ahhhh". I screamed as I sprang up from the bed, drenched in cold sweat.

"Sis?". Cassie sprang up in fright.

"You're awake". I said, trying to calm my unsteady heart.

"Mm. I slept earlier, so now I can't fall asleep". She replied and I nodded .

She looked at me with worry in her eyes. "Are you okay? Did you have a bad dream?". She asked.

"Yes, but it's nothing". She wanted to say something, but I quickly lied down, indicating that I wanted to go back to sleep, but the truth was, I wouldn't be able to fall asleep again.

What's this dream about? And why am I the one getting these dreams..

The necklace? A memory suddenly came to mind.

"You live around here right?". The old woman asked and I nodded.

"Who are you?". She asked.

"Uhm, Emilia Herbert". I replied, wondering why she was even asking.

She nodded, seemingly satisfied and relieved. "The necklace would not have any effect. Good, good". She muttered before bringing out the necklace and handing it to me.

Now that I think about it, everything seemed strange. She sold strange things and I could have sworn I've seen atleast half of them in this town. Plus, when I came back to get another necklace from her, she was gone.

Was it truly Alpha's D possession, and perhaps was stolen by the woman?

As I pushed my hair off my face, I felt a sharp pain on my forehead, and when I felt the area where it hurts, it was swollen.

This was probably as a result of the fall. Heartless jerk! He couldn't even catch me.

I slowly turned to the other side of the bed, and found Cassie sleeping peacefully. I used to sleep peacefully too, until I came here.

I pushed the covers away, as I made my way to the drawer to find some ointments. "What are you looking for?".

"Cassie, why are you awake?".

"Because you're awake". She responded casualy. I heard the rustling of sheets, and the nearing footsteps. In less than ten seconds, Cassie was standing right in front of me.

She observed me closely. "You have a bump on your forehead". She whispered, as she lifted a finger to touch it. "I'll get the ointments". She said and soon, I heard the door close shut..

Seconds later, she was back with the ointments. "Did you know, Ma Xahila usually comes to treat mum?".

"Really?". I asked dryly, as I applied the ointments on my head. Usually, I get excited when I hear that someone has been brought to treat mum, and the treatments would probably work, but Ma Xahila wasn't the first person this year to try and treat her. She was like the twentieth person. So, you get what I'm saying?

"Yes. She started yesterday though". She replied, as she climbed on the bed, and held me from behind. "I have a good feeling about this place"., She said..

Well, I guesss I would have to disagree with her on this one. This place…

I had a really bad and unsettling feeling about it, and I trust my instincts to know better. This place smelled danger, at least for me.."There is a little welcome party for Alpha D's childhood friend. Oh, do you know? Many thinks that she is his mate and they are destined for each other. They say that that's the only female allowed so close to Alpha D". Cassie said .

"Oh really?'.,

"Yes. So, that's why everyone thinks that she is his mate".

I thought carefully. 'EnEn'.

That bright smile on her face

Their closeness

His care towards her

And a certain warmth I saw in his eyes while looking at her

Well, it all makes sense. Happy mating!

"You should rest now Cassie". I said and she nodded behind me. She kissed me on the cheeks. "If you have a bad dream again, hold on to me okay?".

She was now sounding like a mum. It wasn't bad. I felt warm inside, as I nodded like a little cub to it's mother..

The sun rose, but I was already up. I told you I wouldn't be able to sleep, and I didn't. I took a bath, went to the kitchen and ate a canned food. As I headed out, a door opened. Was it Cassie?

I turned back to look at the person.. Dawn! I didn't want to talk to her, to look at her. She makes me feel sick, so I twisted the knob and pulled the door open, but she called out "Em".

I didn't turn back, but I heard her footsteps coming from behind me, and my fists tightened against the door knob.

"I haven't seen you for a while". She started, but I said nothing. "How are you?". She asked, then placed a hands on my shoulders, which I quickly shrugged off. "Look, don't give me such attitudes else I would be mad at-".

"Oh, like you're the only one allowed to be mad?". I retorted, turning back angrily.

"Emilia". She called out.

"What is it? What? Huh? I didn't know you to be like this, sis. How could you? How-". I stopped raised my voice as Cassie emerged from the room. Then, I quickly opened the door and left.

I was not the type to get upset at all, and when I do, I'm easily calmed, but this is just too annoying..

I mean, right from when I was little, I always had this fear for werewolves. If I see them in books, I would shriek and begin to cry. Seeing this, my dad refused everyone to show me any animal that resembles a werewolf..

When I began to grow up, my fear decreased, and an unknown hatred for them increased. Merely admiring a werewolf, I'd be mad at you, but oddly enough, I knew a lot about them. Don't get me wrong, I don't read about them, ever, yet, I know so much about them.

Just like a time in class when our teacher said that werewolf's claws are all black, and I disagreed with her..A werewolf claws changes with growth, but the mature werewolfs can have either a black or brown claw. Everyone was quite amazed at the way I pointed it out, and I was also amazed.

Then, after my dad and twin brother died, and I overheard the cops telling my mum and sis the accident happened probably as a result of a werewolf attack, my hatred for them grew to no heights.

I'm quite surprised that I didn't try anything funny when I was close to Alpha D. Maybe that's because I knew I was no match for him. I was just a weak human girl. That doesn't change my immense hatred for them.

I had wandered my way into the woods again. What's with me and the woods? Did I leave my brains there or what? Nevertheless, I still kept walking, kicking dry leaves as I moved.

The sun was shining really brightly. I raised my head up slightly.. This wasn't the morning sun. You mean to tell me that I wandering about until midday? Holy crab.

Looking around, I realised that I wasn't in the woods any longer. This doesnt look like the surrounding I've seen before, yet my head ached just looking at it.

"Penny for your thoughts?". A man's voice disrupted my aimless thinking.

"Lord". I stumbled backwards in fright. This man scares me to hell..

"Careful". He gripped my arm, but I quickly shrugged it off, as a result, landing on my butt. "Told you to be careful". He said.

Why doesn't he seem familiar, yet I'm pretty sure I've never seen him before? "Do I intrigue you?". He questioned, and I blinked, looking away, as I realised I was staring too intently at him.

"You don't. Why would you?". That question was in fact for me, because he dies intrigue me. The fact that I don't know him, yet I feel like I know him is intriguing. The fact that I feel a bad aura coming from him, although he is actually really friendly right now intrigues me. The fact that I'm scared of him when he clearly means no harm also intrigues me. But why? Why does he intrigue me so much?

He was like an oddly colored fire, which I want to plunge my hand into. It was dangerous, yet fascinating as well..

"Who are you?". I fought the urge to run away as I questioned him.

"I do intrigue you". He smirked.. "Come here next time, and I'll tell you who I am". He said. "That's if I'm right about the fact that I intrigue you of course". And just like that, he walked away..
