Jacob

I hold my breath as I press my fingers against her neck, praying for something to happen.

A sigh of relief escapes me as I feel a slight movement against my fingers. The joy gushes through me at the notion of her alive. But that feeling disappears as her movements become less prominent. Her pulse continues to weaken.

I stare at her pale face. Worry and panic streams through me as I try to understand the reason her body is not healing itself. I focus on the scratch on her cheek, watching as blood continues to seep from it.

"Her weak mate bond has caused her omega to weaken," Robert's words flash in my mind.

The sweet smell coming from Ana reminds me she is in her heat. Derek did not claim her. She is most likely going to die unless she can be intimate with someone. This is what her Omega needs to keep fighting to survive, to live.

I know there is no one else in the pack she can be intimate with. The thought of her constantly having to suffer through heat and not being able to heal because Derek is being a coward makes my blood run cold with anger.

I pinch her nose, my mouth coming down on her as I give her mouth to mouth, praying it will help.

I focus on trying to get Ana to breathe instead of the feeling of her lifeless body in my arms. Her cold lips pressed against mine as I try to revive her. As I move my mouth back to take another breath. I hear coughing and feel Ana's body shake as the coughs scour her body.

I am quick to turn her body on her side. She spits out water. I run my hand along her back, hoping to soothe her as she empties her lungs of the water. I turned her onto her back after a few minutes.

My hand caresses her cheek as I stare at her face. Her cheeks have a light dusting of color. Even though her eyes are closed, the color on her face is improving. I stare at her face as I check her pulse again. I feel a weak, but steady beating against my fingers. The rhythm makes me smile.

I know she is still unconscious because of her heat, and I don't waste any time to pinch her nose and bring my mouth down on hers again. I move back, taking another breath before moving my lips onto hers. As our lips meet, I feel her move underneath me.

I move my hands, one going under her as her lips respond to mine. My other hand goes behind her head, pulling her body closer to mine as our lips move together.

Her hand wraps around my neck, the other on the back of my head as she plays with my hair, pulling me closer to her as the kiss deepens. I feel her teeth bite my lip. The feeling causes me to pull her closer to me. She shifts her body. Her legs wrap around my waist as I pull her on top of me. Her weight and touch cause a groan to leave my mouth.

The sound spurs Ana on as she sits up straighter in my arms, her lips never leaving mine.

Her hand moves from my neck, trailing along my chest as her hands move down, scratching her nails along my abs as I growl at the feeling.

Her hips are slowly moving back and forth against me as she moves her head back. She whimpers as she moves her hips in a certain way. She repeats the movement. Her hand moves down my chest until her fingers find my shorts. Playing with the waistband as her lips come crashing down on mine again.

I kiss her, my shorts growing tight from the feeling of Ana rubbing herself against me. I roll us over, gently placing her on her back as I stay on top of her, staring at her. Her red hair frames her face as she stares up, lust clouding her eyes and her lips swollen from kissing me.

Her sweet smell fills me and makes me stop. I groan as I stare down at her and feel her fingers teasing the waistband of my shorts, but I know she needs to see Robert. She isn't in control of her movements. I moved back from her, hoping the distance would help me regain control of my wolf.

I hear Ana's heavy breathing. Lustful thoughts fill my brain as I groan, trying to control my wolf. He wants to claim her. I glance in her direction. My eyes see the way her sweatshirt is torn across her stomach and I blush at the sight of her skin.

I pull my shirt out of my waistband and pass it to her. "Here," I say, looking away to give her some privacy.

The only answer I get is the shirt being snatched out of my hands. I hear her shift around behind me; her groans filling the air as she moves her aching muscles.

Something wet hits the back of my head, I turn around to see her smiling at me and the sight of her in my shirt causes whatever breath I have left to escape me.

"Did you just throw your sweatshirt at me?" I ask, a smile on my face as I stare at her.

"No," she lies, a giggle following it.

I move towards her, my hands picking her up, ready to take her to the pack doctor, Robert. So, she can get the help she needs.

I wait for her to get comfortable in my arms, ignoring the whimpers she lets out from my touch. I walk towards the trees, knowing I need to get Ana back soon.

"Jacob!" someone screams.

I turn to my left, seeing Derek, Kimon, and a few others standing there.

"What the fuck took you so long?" I say, the venom in my words causing Ana to flinch.

"We were-" Derek starts, but a moan interrupts him and causes me to look down at Ana in my arms.

She is staring at Derek, most likely moaning because of how close her mate is. I watch Derek, his eyes widening as he realizes Ana is in heat.

His face distorts, turning into a mask of jealousy as he growls at me. His eyes darken as they see Ana wearing my shirt.

"Give her to me!" Derek insists, his voice possessive as he steps towards us. His nose moving, as he smells my scent on his mate.

I take a step back as he steps forward, a whimper leaving Ana's mouth from the movement and the sound spurs Derek into action. His growls become louder as he steps forward again. I look behind him, grabbing Kimon's attention, who is quick to act. He steps forward, placing a restraining hand on Derek's shoulder.

"Snap out of it, Derek," I say. I can see how is struggling to maintain control over his wolf.

"Give her to me. I want to carry her," Derek says, growling at me in warning again.

Kimon moves in front of him, holding him back.

"Gain control, Derek!" I say, my voice low in warning as I let the irritation of Derek's inability to stop and think about Ana fuels my anger.

I watch as he shakes his head, trying to clear his thoughts and regain control of his wolf. We stand there staring at one another for a few minutes before he finally moves his eyes to Ana again.

"Are you okay?" He asks, addressing her for the first time since he arrived. That he took so long to show concern over her causes me to see red.

Ana nods her head. The movement causes me to look down at her and I notice how her eyes

are slowly drooping and I jump into action, needing to get her to the doctor before anything bad happens.

"Kimon, go with Derek and make sure Robert is prepared to meet us," I say, knowing they will shift to get there quicker. Kimon will ensure Derek will stay focused on the task at hand and not try doing anything stupid.

I adjust my grip around Ana, looking down to see her eyes closed and her breathing becoming

more even. I take a deep, shaky breath before I run. My hold around Ana tightens, ensuring I won't drop her as I pick up my speed.

"Stay with me, love," I say, hoping to get a response from her, instead I feel her head lean against my chest.

She has lost consciousness. I push myself harder. I don't care about the way my muscles are screaming from being over exerted. Instead, I use the feeling of Ana's body in my arms as a reason to run faster. I see the doctor's room in the distance. My feet continue to pound against the ground as I run towards it.

"We are nearly there, Ana. Hold on," I say, knowing she won't reply, but speaking to her helps to calm me as I fight to get her help.

I say a silent thank you to Derek as I see Robert standing by the door. A bed next to him as they wait for me. Once I reach them, I gently place Ana in the bed. My eyes never leave her body as she is wheeled away from me. I stare at the door as it closes behind her.

I feel a hand on my shoulder. I don't look to see who it is. I couldn't care about anything except Ana at that moment.

"She will be alright," Derek says, concerned about what will happen next.

I shrug his arm off my shoulder. Hoping he is right as I make my way to the waiting room. I won't leave until I know she is alright.
