Chapter 9 Blood

When blood is shed, the world prays for mercy. They blame the same gods for their troubles that they beg for peace from.

I don't believe in God. Nor do I believe in my own blood.

"Your a Michaels, I should've known you'd be as blood thirsty as the rest of them" they would say. "The cursed bloodline" others would talk. "Who would be insane enough to put them in charge" said others. Yet we were the ones who kept them safe.

"Raina" my father would call my name. How I hated him. He was the definition of blood thirsty. My father is the worst man alive and I am his.... favorite daughter. After all how Ironic is it that the blood thirsty Michaels family actually got someone who can control blood.

And how ironic is it that the same power was taken away.

"Your power still hasn't returned" Edward said a worried expression on his face. It had been a week since I was kidnapped. Since that maniac injected a power dampener into my arm. Usually it would only take a few days for someone's power to return but it had been a week. And Edward wasn't the only one who grew concerned.

"I don't know what to do" I told him "a Meta human with no power.... is just human" I added. "You are far from just human Raina" he said grabbing my hands. "You are the queen of the Shifters weather you have power or not all you have to do is show the world that your strong with or without your power" he told me.

"And how exactly do I do that?" I asked him. "I have no clue" he told me. "I'm.... I'm gonna go for a walk" I told him as I took my hands back and turning away from him. Then I walked away. Out the door and into the woods that were behind our house.

My power had become part of my identity and without.... I felt broken. In truth I was broken. I lost control, and I needed to take it backs. But how? I pulled a pocket knife out of my pocket. Ever since I had been taken I kept one with me.

I flipped it open and just stared at it for a minute. Then I put it against the palm of my left hand and cut. I flinched in pain as blood began to pour out from my hand. Then I concentrated. Concentrated on moving the blood, of controlling it, of shaping it. The blood didn't slow as it continued to come out of my hand but I didn't stop. I needed to force it. I needed to bring my power back. I closed my eyes.

"Raina what are you doing" I heard Edward's voice from behind me. My eyes shot open and I turned to see Edward staring at me with shock as he saw the blood dripping from my hand onto the ground. He ran to me and grabbed my bleeding hand and put a tissue on it he just so happened to have in his pocket.

"Why did you do that?" He asked looking between me and my hand. I was silent as I just stared at him. I didn't know what to say the words wouldn't form. "RAINA!" he snapped drawing me back to reality. I could feel the tears filling my eyes and his once worried and angry look turned to concern.

"I need it back" I told him. "It's part of who I am and without it I feel weak and helpless" I continued. "I feel like I can't breathe again and it's a constant reminder of what happened and I can't breathe" I said. "I can't think, I scared and the longer I don't have it the more insane I feel" I told him. "I can't go on like this I need it back" I added as the tears began to fall.

"I can't do this" I continued. "Raina" he said quietly. "You did get it back" he told me "what?" I said confused. "Look" he said looking past me, causing me to turn around.

My blood was floating in the air, it became over a dozen tiny solid spikes just floating in the air. I lifted my arm up and they went flying in different directions. Some hitting trees while others flew past them. I turned back to Edward.

"But I didn't feel anything?" I said confused. "I don't think you have since we found you" he said caressing my cheek. "What are you talking about?" I asked quietly." Ever since we found you..." he stopped for a second. "You were different, frozen" he said. "You didn't react to a single thing" he told me. "I didn't feel any different" I told him. "I don't think you realized it yourself" he said. "You were like a zombie" he told me.

A few days ago...

"Raina!" Edward yelled grabbing her arm. They were in their room. Without Edward noticing Raina had walked put onto the balcony and was sitting on the rail. He quickly picked her up and brought her in. He stared into her eyes and saw nothing but darkness in her red eyes, like she wasn't even there.

Then she collapsed into his arms

Present day....

"I think you've been sleep walking" he told me. "Ever since that first day back I've been keeping an eye on you" he added. "But it's not just when your asleep" he said. "Sometimes you'll randomly black out and hurt yourself, I thought that's what this was" he told me. "Have I lost my mind?" I asked him. He pulled me into a hug.

"No never" he told me hugging me tightly. "We just need to figure out what's causing it. I'll keep you safe I promise" he added. "How exactly can you keep me safe from myself?" I asked. "I'll be by your side 100% of the time if I have to" he said. "Thank you!" I told him.
