Grand Phenomenon

'The heck? This energy, isn't it mine?' Asher's body froze.

The new energy he felt was quite similar to that of the Celestial Emperor's energy but slightly different. This made it almost unnoticeable at first, but after inspecting it, Asher realized that he sensed it not just because of his sensitive soul but also because there was some connection between him and it. This was because this energy belonged to him, or to be precise, this energy was his past life, Yi Feng's.

"How could this appear here?"

Asher was shaken.

Yi Feng's energy as well as the energy of a Celestial Emperor different from him, all inside one box stunned Asher incredibly. At this moment, Asher's focus wasn't even on preventing this energy from being sensed by the Decagons who might inform his father about it, but was on the question of 'how'. How had his energy appeared in this world?

Without hesitating any longer, Asher opened the box completely to reveal the contents inside. There was only one item inside; a small round object that looked like a seed but also a bead.

'What is this?'

Asher tried to rack his available memory but couldn't recall ever seeing this. He even closed the box before browsing through his past life's memory. But even after two hours, he realized that he had never encountered this item before.

"What the hell is it?"

Asher couldn't understand why such an object that held both his past life's energy, another Celestial emperor's energy and a large amount of mana was unknown to him. It should be known that any item that could hold the energy of a Celestial Emperor was not simple, what more, one that could hold two of those energies.

"Who was that soul fragment and what is this Upper land?" Asher's mind couldn't help but ask questions.

'If I recall correctly, he said that he didn't even know what it was and had just felt that it would be useful to me. Could he be lying?'

Reopening the box, Asher glanced at the round object and picked it up to study.

'Heavy.'

The object was roughly the size of a walnut but weighed almost like a block of metal. Unlike the packaging, the item was jet black, but at the same time, alluring to the eyes.

'It's not black,' Asher focused on the item. 'It's simply devouring any incoming light rays. Incredible.'

After checking it out, Asher was now confused about its use. He tried absorbing the mana leaking out from it but strangely, he couldn't. He tried with the one from the box and surprisingly, Asher could absorb it, albeit with some difficulty. The purity of the mana was too incredible and there could be risks associated with absorbing it.

'It seems like the mana has to be out of the sphere for a while after which it would be diluted by natural essence. Only then can it be used for training. The pure energy within the sphere, however, is pretty much like a pie in the sky; I can see it, but can't reach it. Even the Celestial Emperor energy.' Asher sighed.

He could feel the aura of that intimidating energy from the sphere but could not absorb it. Even if he could though, Asher wouldn't. The energy of a Celestial Emperor would simply burst his meridians and veins apart. Even his locked mana points couldn't withstand it.

"What the heck is the use of this item then?" Asher fiddled with it.

Suddenly, Asher had an idea. He bit on his finger till it began bleeding, then rubbed the injured finger on the sphere. Remarkably, the sphere absorbed the blood from the injured finger.

Just as Asher was feeling smug and waiting to see what would happen, the sphere entered his finger and began crawling underneath it towards his heart.

"Arrghhh!"

Thud.

Asher howled in pain as he abruptly fell to the floor. Not only could he feel the sphere moving through his vein, but it seemed like that sensation was amplified by more than a thousand times bringing with it an evident amount of pain. But the worst was yet to come.

The pain came as a surprise that Asher couldn't even react to the happenings around him, and by the time he realized where the sphere was heading, it was too late. Before Asher could even try and stop it, the sphere had already entered his heart.

"Ahh!"

Asher's scream suddenly became worse, and it sounded more like a monster howling in pain than a human.

"Yin and Yang, Chaos and Origin. The world is yours to destroy, or yours to create."

A mysterious voice rang in Asher's mind, but he was in too much pain to even understand a word.

"Hey mummy, look."

"What is that?"

"Ahh! The Armageddon. The gods are angry at us!"

"Hmm? Wait, this looks familiar."

While Asher was in pain, a strange phenomenon took place outside that threw the entire city into turmoil. It was the same phenomenon that took place the very day Asher was born but a tad different. The sky turned dark and a myriad of colours burst out everywhere, reminiscent of the polar lights, an Aurora but with various shades of the seven colours. Auras of legendary creatures danced around the sky, seemingly celebrating a great event. Dragons, Phoenixes, Loch Ness, Nine-headed Hydras, Godly Centaurs, and more filled the sky in celebration. Compared to the phenomenon during Asher's birth, this one was on a more grand scale. This was because, this time around, the phenomenon covered more than just the Great Dawn kingdom. Not only were the entire territories of the 13 kingdoms, the Lower land, affected, but even the entire mysterious Upper land. In other words, today's phenomenon covered the entire Kilin continent itself. Despite that, the centre of all this, Asher, knew nothing about it and was writing on the ground in pain.

. . .

The Upper land…

"Hmm?" A figure who was quietly sitting in meditation with multiple blue spheres orbiting around him suddenly lifted his head.

Above him was a glass ceiling that let him see right through the roof. There were carvings on the ceiling depicting the positions of the constellations in the sky, but that wasn't where the man's focus was on. The sky had turned dark and an aurora had formed. Apart from that, auras of mythical beasts were moving to and fro the sky seemingly implying something.

"It's happening again." The figure frowned. "The heavens have shifted once more."

Elsewhere in the Upper land, a 3-metre tall man sat on a throne with a cold but calm look on his face. Two groups of officials were standing on the left and right sides of the throne room, all nervous and sweating.

"Go, find me that object or whatever it is that has caused this and bring it to me."

"Yes, your majesty, Son of Heaven."

In a purple bamboo garden in a different part of the Upper land, a young lady sat beside a pond while she played a melodious tone with her flute. The fishes in the pond gathered close to her as they listened to the music and the birds in the air all quietened down and hung around the bamboo staring at her with interest. A few seconds later, she concluded the song, but the animals didn't disperse at all.

"Your flute skills have improved considerably." A middle-aged man walked from behind.

"It is all thanks to teacher. But little student still has more to learn. I hope teacher would aid me in my training." The girl stood up and bowed at the man gracefully.

The man smiled at her words and was about to give her a few pointers when suddenly, the sky turned dark and the phenomenon took place. The fishes all scattered and dived deeper into the ponds while the birds flew deeper into the bamboo forest, in a bid to hide just as the fishes did.

"It's happening again." The young lady frowned slightly.

"The world's fate would soon experience a great upheaval. We have to be prepared if we hope to survive." The man spoke.

"The world's fate?" The girl asked, but she received no reply from her teacher as the man was staring at the sky with a pensive frown.

Multiple scenes either similar or different from the three were happening all over the Upper land, and they were all due to the phenomenon in the sky. Some believed it was a sign of an appearance of a great treasure, while others believed it was the world notifying them of a great change. Nevertheless, the phenomenon still brought about clouds of worry and confusion in this great realm, just as it did with the Lower land.

In an entirely different space where nothing should have been able to exist, the clanking sounds of chains broke the silence in this place. No signs of life were present here, not even a sound of a heartbeat, the warmth from a living body or the sounds of breathing; nothing at all. Despite that, the clanking of chains implied that there was something in this dark and uninhabitable space.

"Hmm? That bastard's plan seems to have been fruitful, huh?" A deep cold voice further broke the silence.

"It matters not. You should have just given up back then just like the others. All will come to an end, as it was written. I am the word; the word is to come. I am the word; the word is supreme."
