16.1 Loneliness

The noise of the room sounded like a distant echo in Yomo's ears. With a half-filled glass of whiskey in front of him, he stared blankly from the counter of his usual bar. The one he used to go to before he met Rau. Amorphous in his chair, slumped over the counter, the third year didn't have the same energy as he had back then.

The evening with Jin and Nils had drained him of what little energy he had after Rau had blatantly ignored him in the college corridors. He could play it smart and tell himself that he was going to take care of himself, but he couldn't handle it. Every time things got a little better and he got back on track, a flick of the wrist was enough to put him back on the floor. And he was tired of it. Getting back up required a colossal amount of energy that he was beginning to lose.
