23.2 Running away

Yomo left the club exhausted but satisfied. He had achieved his two goals: to get his thoughts in order and to relax his tense body.

When he returned to his aunt's house, he took a hot shower and reread his lessons for the next day. When he saw the clock approaching midnight, he closed his computer and went to bed. Just as he was about to fall asleep, his phone vibrated. He glanced at it: it was Rau calling him. He picked up the phone.

"I thought for sure you'd be awake again," the first-year's voice came over the speaker.

"I was close to falling asleep, you were lucky," he smiled.

"You shouldn't have picked up the phone then," Rau hinted with his usual teasing.

"You're right, I'll hang up now," Yomo pretended to cut the line.

The joke made Rau laugh, but he was not fooled.

"You missed me so much that you had to call me so late so you could sleep?" continued Yomo, continuing in a joking tone.
