Petty tricks are not enough

"Ugh..." Leon uttered a tiny moan when his body compressed upon impact.

He rushed forth by riding a shockwave. That alone was enough to put a strain on his flesh, and he still went and changed his momentum again by crashing right into the forest beast.

'I guess I only have myself to blame,' he thought while midair.

Leon heavily fell to the ground, rolled onwards, and stopped in a strange, leaned-in position while supporting himself on his left hand.

'There you are,' he thought, locking eyes with the beast.

Leon's opponent landed with a lot more grace, courtesy of its nimble psychique and four legs.

The beast appeared like some sort of a mix between a panther and a tiger, roughly twenty-percent bigger than its counterparts Leon knew from his world.

The beast lowered its center of mass, making its shoulder blades stick out of its back. It then opened up its jaws a little, showcasing four rows of sharp teeth while uttering a low, guttural sound.
