Chapter:7: Truth

"Hey, are you alright?" I heard Cato's voice. Who has the gut to slap my face? I slowly opened my eyes and closed them at once. Dang, it's so bright!

"Pull down the curtains" I heard Lilith

I once again opened my eyes and met with Cato's.

"Are you okay?" Cato asked for the first time I saw something more in his eyes something beautiful

"Yeah I am" I felt blank

I was back in my room. Cato and the healer standing next to me and Lilith stood near the door with pure annoyance

"Then Cato take care of him I have something to discuss with Sarah" The healer followed Lilith out of the room. I need a power like hers to control people without a spell.

"What happened to you" Cato opened the curtains the sunlight slowly lit up the room.

"I don't have a good past with water" I lied, I have to find that certain someone with the notion of killing me but by myself and a little "dark past sentiment," cliché may help me afterward.

"You could've told me" I saw something different in Cato since morning and slowly understanding this

"My mother hated mystiques. So, she used to drown me in water to stop using magic. She thought it was a freak thing. She and my father always fought over it but then I met Mr.Remis. He helped me survive." I blurted out the most believable lie I ever made.

"That's why you came here for him" Cato caught me off, guard.

"What are you talking about?" I searched under my pillow for my dagger

"You are not fooling anyone, Aarav. No one would dare to come into this forest without a reason and the only person that would want you here are the royals. If you are one of the soldiers, we would've got attacked by now. I can never miss that locket anywhere." Dang, why am I careless? The locket was given by Kai, he assumed it is a lucky charm.

"What are you gonna do about this?" My hands finally got hold of my daggers.

Before I could take out my dagger I was flipped on my stomach and Cato was on top of me with a cold metal on my neck. His hands pinned my head down. This shouldn't go like this.

"Listen. Kai doesn't want to hurt anyone" I am getting out of breath

"I know the consequences of trusting him. I am not a fool to do the same mistake all over again" He growled "No one would know that I killed you"

"I am Aurelia's father" I felt his grip losing around me. Never get distracted when you fight. I flipped him over now I am on his top his hands pinned down by mine.

"Are you?"

"Of course I am not I don't want to have that devil for a daughter," I said grabbing his dagger "Why does everyone hate Luca?"

"I am not saying that to you" He struggled under me

"Cato I am sent to put Lilith in sopor. You were right, I am sent by Kai. As much as I respect Kai I need Lilith alive to save this Kingdom" He finally stopped struggling and started searching for a hint of a lie in my eyes.

"Why would you do that? Why are you willing to go against Luca? Why do you want to save the Kingdom"

"I am Ethan Aarav Drakos" The silence filled the room. Both of us staring into each other

"Lilith was an orphan in the streets, starved and hated. She was taken by Lucia Remis, Lucia was Luca's grandmother she was the most powerful mystique Kiberania ever had. Lilith and Luca were raised together, They were like siblings. After Lucia's mysterious death, Mr.Remis and Mrs.Remis were arrested. Luca and Lilith ran to the forest, they were taken by the assassins in the forest. My father was the head back then, Luca and Lilith hated the Royals as much as us. But, something in Lilith made her outstanding. My father used to say that she is the one that can bring men to their knees with her aura. Apart from assassination and theft Lilith and Luca had something else going between them. They loved each other so much or that's what we thought so. One day we planned to assassinate the King. We were so near to success until Luca decided to backstab. My father was killed by him. Lilith returned with a baby which she said to have had with Luca back when they were undercover for their missions"

He finished with a sigh while I was still trying to accept that Kai was a backstabber.

"This can't be true" My voice came out as a whisper

"It's your choice," Cato said
