Rika Sato is a freshman university student, she had a cold demeanor and an attitude that was basically screaming her apathy. She did not care for anything at all, she was detached from reality, one might say. The world being full of terrible news, murders, kidnappings, and other twisted things made her that way. She was uncaring and frozen.

One fateful night, Rika was just walking, determined to get home from school. As the night progressed on, the city lights grew brighter and brighter. Perhaps this was the reason that a random child did not think to look before crossing the street. A truck was coming in closer and closer, the driver was not even looking at the road. Rika knew that she had to do something to save the child. She quickly ran and tried to hurl the child away to safety. She succeeded. The child lived, yet she did not. The truck hit Rika right then and there. 

[ Do you wish to live, still? ] A voice asked out to her. “Y-Yes! Yes I do!” she screamed.  

[ Then you shall live once more. You will live in order to become a spectacle. A warrior of the night, if you do not agree with these terms and conditions, we can always just leave you to die. ] 

The image of a red moon was the last thing she would ever see before her life would change for the better—or for worse. As she would be given a chance to reverse what had happened to her. But there was a catch. It was going to shake up her whole world, living on that borrowed life of hers.

Red Moon Reversal

They were happy to live, they were happy to make it through the night. Instantly, they were transported back to the apartment where a screen was waiting for them. In the screen was Vicis once again.  "Greetings. I will now tally your scores. Rika Sato, you have gained three points, your total is 8 points. Mikoto Ryugi, you have gained two points, your total is 18 points. Kuro Miya, you have gained two points, your total is two points. All the others, your total is 0 points. That is all. See you all on the next blood moon." Vicis waved good bye as his unnatural appearance unsettled and even scared the others who were in the room.


A child was screaming while hugging her mother hard. "I-I do not want to come back here anymore, mama." She said as Rika Sato felt like her heart was being tugged as she heard this, feeling bad for the kid for being subjected to this. "Wait! Come back, Vicis!" She screamed at the screen, which prompted it to light up once more. "Yes?" Vicis asked with the same expressionless face that he always had.


"Do you not feel guilty for doing this to us?! Are you really that numb?! Why don't you just stop all of this and let us live our lives back the way things were before?!" She shouted at Vicis, catching the attention of everyone there. "I am not required to answer your questions. Your lives are mine now, I am the only reason you are living on borrowed time. If you wish to go back, get one hundred points. That is all." The screen shut off. Rika still wanted to ask many questions but Vicis was not entertaining them anymore.


The doors of the apartment were now unlocked as most of them were now outside. "Don't worry, everyone. As long as we can survive each night, I will make sure that Vicis will get what is coming to him. He owes us all an explanation. We fight at night for our lives for this, an explanation is the least that he should give." Rika told them.


"As someone who has had twenty points as of now, I've grown accustomed to not knowing. Every single night, I am just happy to make it back out alive." Mikoto uttered.
