  Then he grabbed my hands. I was speechless, unable to respond to what he said so enthusiastically.

  "Would you please give it to me?" he asked softly, squeezing my palm slightly.

  Oh, God! My heart felt like it wanted to escape once more. What does it make me think of this man? Her sadness was contagious before, but her happiness is contagious now. And why does my heart seem to be bursting at the seams with these conflicting emotions? When there was still no response from me, Harris's excitement faded slightly.

  "You don't want to? Are you sick of being with me? Do you want to stay in your cabin and rest?"

  "Huh? Not at all; that's fine; that's nice,"

  "Seriously? So, I'll make a reservation," Harris said, his voice returning to life.

  "It's entirely up to you."

  "Then let's go," I said as we walked down the narrow corridor to the ship's canteen. And I swear it was one of my most memorable experiences on this ship, walking hand in hand as if we were a couple in love.
