CHAPTER 19 Greedy

  Rae’s POV

I heard him, but my body was not capable of obeying. I didn’t want to get in trouble, but also, I didn’t want to look at him.

“Rae!” He shouted and I couldn’t understand what was that tickling sensation on my skin. I frowned and looked at him, after all. His presence was making me feel uneasy, in a different way.

When I looked up, all I could see were those bright green eyes. I expected them to be darker, since he was angry, but they were not. He seemed worried, surprised. I don’t know exactly, but not angry, like murderous anrgy.

“Why didn’t you go to class?” His voice was now not so demanding, but more like he wanted an explanation over some disappointment.

I looked down again. How could I tell him that I decided to give up on his classes because I was starting to get greedy? And he was about to marry, which meant I could never be with him, ever.

“Answer me, please.” His tone startled me. It was low, sad. I had to look up.
