I must say Orario is the biggest city I have ever seen, now it's the only city I have ever seen. So admittedly it's a limited sample size, but I'm pretty sure it's at least up there. Probably up there for most crowded as well. People rushing all over the place packed like sardines, a myriad of narrow alleyways, and don't forget the Tower of Babel that lords over the city.
I spent the next couple of days exploring the city, sleeping in door frames, and spending Bell's money on whatever cheap food I can find. The results of my research are that Bell would have had a harsh reality check when he arrived.
It seems that heroes no longer exist, at least they don't in Orario. The closest they got here are the various idols. The sword princess, Ais Wallenstein, is the fastest to ever reach Lv5, but I heard rumors that her heart is made of the steel as her sword. Then there is the strongest man in the city outside the gods, Ottar the Freya familia's Lv7 captain and, if the gossip is correct, butcher. The last idol is the captain of the Hephaestus familia Tsubaki said to be the greatest mortal blacksmith.
My first order of business of the day is to register as an adventurer at the guild. Now I know what you are thinking 'wow! Nemo, that sounds awful dangerous', and you would be right, but it is also a very lucrative job if you're good. According to my first couple of days I was going to have to get good anyways or I would end up like my friend Bell.
As I walked into the bank looking building that is the guild's headquarters, I immediately noticed one of the receptionists/advisors. She was a beautiful petite young woman with brown bobbed hair and emerald green eyes wearing a bank teller's uniform. The instant I saw her I got a feeling from her, that if I went to her, she would go above and beyond the scope of her job for me. This was both positive and negative, she would help me be safe with information and guidance, but she would also hinder my growth in the name of protection. So instead, I went to Rob.
You see Rob was everything I was looking for in an advisor. He was just there to get paid; he would provide every help in the scope of the job to the best of his ability, but he wouldn't care if I lived or died. Which suited me just fine, turns out I'm quite the free spirit.
After that matter was settled, I moved on to my next matter joining a familia. You see gods came down to the heavens to combat their boredom, they do this most of the time by creating familias. The members of the familias are granted power and abilities in return for entertaining their gods. Luckily Rob gave me a list of familias to try. I spent the next several days looking for a familia, never quite finding the right fit. Some familias did not want to take any chance on a beginner, most of the top-ranking ones. Some had way too harsh of conditions for me, most of the mid-ranking ones. Some were basically fronts for criminal activities, like the Soma familia.
This continued until I ran into a beautiful woman by the name of Hestia. She was the very definition of God-like beauty, long ebony hair, sapphire eyes, and a developed body. She was holding a sign advertising her familia. The instant I saw her I knew she was the goddess for me. I knew she would do everything she possibly could to help me like that one guild advisor, but she would also give me the freedom I so desired.
"Hello, I am Nemo. I would like to join your familia." (Nemo)
"You really want to join my familia?" (Hestia)
"I do." (Nemo)
"Why? Not to be self-disparaging, but I don't have much to offer" (Hestia)
"Just have a feeling that it's the right decision." (Nemo)
"Do you always just go with your gut decisions?" (Hestia)
"As far as I can remember." (Nemo)
"You're not one of those perverts are you?" (Hestia)
"Don't believe so" (Nemo)
"How do you feel about going into the dungeon alone?" (Hestia)
"Prefer it." (Nemo)
"How do you feel about living in an abandoned church?" (Hestia)
"It's less than optimal but I can live with it" (Nemo)
"Alright, Welcome to the Hestia familia" (Hestia)
"Glad to be a part of it" (Nemo)
That's how I ended up the captain of the Hestia familia.
