SURPRISE!

Getting out of bed, I checked the time to see it was already 7:51 am.

Stretching my arms, I walked over to the bathroom and quickly started getting ready.

Glancing at myself in the mirror I concluded that I was ready.

I was wearing a soft satin top with jeans and sneakers. My hair was in braids with a beanie on my head. And a puffy off-the-shoulder jacket to complete the look.

Grabbing my purse, I walked out and went downstairs.

Entering the kitchen, I saw that David was already eating. He was wearing a boring grey suit, as always. I sat down in front of him and quickly ate my breakfast.

As I finished, David asked, "Can you drive me to work?" he said as he put down his spoon.

"Sure I can," I answered as I stood up. "C'mon, let's go." I said and walked off into the lounge.

Grabbing my keys, I walked out the door as David followed behind me closing the door.

During the drive to his office, we talked about random things.

Stopping the car at his company, he got out and waved bye.

"Should I pick you up after?" I asked, poking my head out of the window.

"No need, Arthur said he would be picking me up today." He said cheerfully. "Eh, wait!"

"Oh, something wrong?" I asked as he opened the car door and climbed back inside.

"Oh, it's nothing." He mumbled, closing the door, and turned to me.

"Wha-" I was about to question him when suddenly a pair of warm lips were pressed against mine.

It was only for a second but it still made my stomach flip.

"H-huh?" I stuttered as he let go of my shoulders, which he had been holding firmly, and got out of the car.

"B-bye!" He said and left.

"Huh?! Hey!" I yelled as I watched him run off... [What was that? Why did he--?]

*BEEEP* A horn sounded from behind.

"R-right!" I mumbled as I remembered where I was and that this was not a place to zone out.

I drove to my office in a daze, and it only felt like seconds before I was standing outside the car in the company garage.

Getting on to the executive lift, I pressed my floor button. I didn't feel like seeing anyone right now.

Walking out of the lift, I opened my office door and went to sit at my seat behind the desk.

I sat there with an open file in my hands, as I pondered on what happened today.

All of a sudden the door sprung open, and Vanessa walked in.

Vanessa was my other assistant, who I saw rather less as she only came straight to me when June was away.

"So, I take it June's on leave today?" I said to her, already guessing the answer.

"Yeah, called in sick two minutes before twelve last night. Her call gave me half a heart attack." She said, putting down a few files and an Espresso in front of me.

"Thanks, and I hope your okay from the fright." I said to her, picking up the coffee and taking a few sips.

"Oh, I'm alright, don't worry, but do worry for yourself, you don't know, she could seriously kill us with her.. y'know what." She said, sitting down at the other smaller assistant's desk.

"Enthusiasm?" I said, putting down the coffee and flipping through the file I was holding.

"Yeah. Well, I guess you're stuck with me today!" She said with a mischievous smirk, as she opened up a file and flipped through it.

"Hmm." I hummed in response and went through the file I was holding.

All through work today, I was feeling quite dazed and barely got any work done.

After getting off work at somewhere around four, I drove back home. Parking the car in the garage and getting out, I walked up to the door.

Mrs. Gray was out spending time with family today, so the door was locked from the outside.

Taking out my key, I unlocked the door and stepped inside.

Closing the door behind me, I put my bag down on the nearby table and flipped on the light switch.

"SURPRISE!" There was a yell all of a sudden as the lights switched on.
