Dressed in a flowing white gown, with her chestnut hair in flowing ringlets and with just a touch of makeup, Good Beckett sat on the Detective's right shoulder. On the other shoulder, dressed in skintight black leather pants and a midriff baring black tube top, showing a generous cleavage was Bad Beckett. Bad Beckett's darker hair was pulled back into a severe bun and her gorgeous hazel eyes were made prominent by false eyelashes, eyeliner and mascara.
"Really? And suppose she's on to something?" Castle asked as Serena Kaye walked away.
Good Becket whispered in Kate's ear. "Castle is right, you know. Even though the woman is obviously the sort that would intrigue Rick, your only concern should be the murder of Brian Hayes. You must use any and all methods to find the killer."
Bad Beckett laughed sarcastically. "Kate, did you see the way that bimbo wiggled her ass at Castle? And her ass isn't a tenth as good as ours is. Tell the bitch to get lost. You need to concentrate on what's important here. You and Castle together. You solve murders together, remember? You don't need anyone else. And then you can move onto something really important like getting together with Rick and doing the horizontal mambo."
Reluctantly, Kate called Ryan and told him to check the loading dock and the caterers. As she did so, Good Beckett smiled happily and Bad Beckett made a rude gesture with her hand.
All three Becketts were surprised to see Serena Kaye in Captain Gates' office and they were somewhat surprised that Gates agreed to let Serena consult on the case.
Good Beckett smiled. "Things are working out perfectly. Serena brings a great deal of knowledge to the case and she can be a valuable asset to our murder investigation. You should welcome her, Kate."
Bad Beckett let out a loud Bronx cheer. "Ass-et? She's got that. She's already got her eyes on our boyfriend. The man who told you he loves you. Do you remember that? He L-O-V-E-S you! Are you just going to let her get away with that?"
Good Beckett sighed in a delicate, ladylike manner. "Really, Katherine. You know you have no claim on Rick. He did tell you he loves you, but then you lied to him. As I've told you many times before lies always cause trouble. Honesty is the best policy."
"Honesty is a policy! But, for once Little Mary Sunshine is right." Bad Beckett said. "You don't need to tell Rick a damned thing about what he said. Just casually cuff him and drag him to your place and keep him there naked and cuffed to your bed until we solve the case and the bitch gets out of town. Go ahead, you can do it."
"Fine." Beckett said as Castle went off with Serena Kaye to some place where cops weren't allowed, but authors were.
"Castle will be a great help to Ms. Kaye as he's been in our cases." Good Beckett said.
"Yeah." Bad Beckett grumped. "He'll be good at getting her in bed, where you should be if you can just get your head straight."
Kate sat in her car after her session with Dr. Burke, going over what he had said in her mind.
Good Beckett spoke first. "You have priorities, Katherine. First you have to solve Brian Hayes' murder. That should be the number one thing on your to do list. Then you have to solve your mom's case. Things will never be right with you until you do. You must prioritize!"
Bad Beckett slapped her forehead. "Are you nuts, Goodie Two Shoes? You have to grab Castle. Grab him now before he gets away. Do you think a man like Rick Castle is going to wait for the rest of his life for you? Be real. The clock is ticking, Katie. The future is now. It's now or never. It's fourth down and goal to go! And do you know what? If you ever want to get your mother's killer, our mother's killer, you need to do it with Castle. You gave up on the case, remember? Who gave the file to good old Dr. Death so he could find the connections to three other murders? Who put up the hundred grand to smoke Coonan out? You need to be afraid he won't wait for you and grab him now."
Kate shook her head slowly and then drove back to the precinct.
"So, then you think I should…pursue it?" Castle said.
Beckett kept her expression neutral. "You know, I mean, suit yourself."
"Suit yourself?" Screamed Bad Beckett. "It's bad enough that you won't go after him yourself, but now you have to push him to the arms of the art thief from Hell? What is the matter with you? Tell him he should pursue you! And mention you don't plan on running fast."
Good Beckett just smiled.
When Kate came out of Serena's hotel room and found Castle had her pressed against the wall, kissing her, Bad Beckett actually began jumping up and down and cheering. "What's this I see Katie? It's a giant green eyed monster called jealousy. Now you can go after the bitch. You just get rid of Blondie and you'll have no more competition for Castle. We can drive past the East River as we go back to the precinct. Just you and Serena. A tire iron to her head and she's out of your hair and floating out into the Atlantic. Or maybe she could commit suicide in her cell? Lanie will help you cover it up. She could fall down the elevator shaft, or that old standby, shot while trying to escape. Don't lose you nerve now, Katie."
Good Beckett shook her head slowly. "I have no idea where that one comes from, Katherine, You know perfectly well that you will treat Serena Kaye as being innocent until proven guilty. You must follow the rules, Kathrine. Your mother always followed the rules."
"And look where that got her." Bad Beckett said snidely.
"I think you should know what kind of a person you're dealing with." Kate said to Serena at the end of the case.
Bad Beckett made vomiting noises and Good Beckett clapped politely.
Kate Beckett sat across from Rick Castle, eating a hamburger at Remy's. Castle was going on and on about the unfairness of the museum charging him for the damaged piece of art. He's planning his legal defense and also blocking out a chapter in a Nikki Heat book where Rook, in a similar situation, makes the museum look like fools. Kate smiles as he talks.
Standing on the table are both Good Beckett and Bad Beckett, but they have changed. Both now wear very tight and short red dresses and are fully made up and have their hair done.
One looks to the other. "We needed to get together a long time ago, just like they need to get together."
The other one nods. "We'll have them together before they know it."
They high five each other.
"Watch out, Katie!" One says.
"Watch out, Castle you mean!"
They both laugh.
