Preboards

Ivy walks with Callie in the halls on her way to the bus, "Okay, no pressure but I put a lot of time and effort into you. So, don't blow it. Make me proud."

"Don't worry, I will. Thank you, Callie, for everything. Oh, and I've made my decision. I'll be staying here for my ortho and trauma fellowship, when I pass my boards," Ivy hugs one of her mentors.

Callie starts tearing up, "Good. I'm glad. Now, go, you're making me cry."

Going to the ambulance bay, she sees Jackson talking to Mark. She quickly heads to them and as Mark is offering Jackson a wad of cash, Ivy grabs it.

"Thanks big brother!" She shouts over her shoulder, heading towards Hunt.

"Have salmon for dinner. None of that-" he starts shouting to her.

"Frozen crap, all fresh. Got it. Come on Jackson," Ivy gestures for him to follow her.

Ivy stops in front of Owen and looks expectantly, "Okay, you're a trauma surgeon. You're a soldier. You're the most promising resident and if there's one I don't need to worry about, it's you. So go, be a soldier."

She nods, "I'm a soldier. I'm a kickass ortho and trauma surgeon. I got this."

She takes a deep breath and gets on the van. She quickly takes a seat next to Jackson, "Hey, that money you took from Sloan, you'll share that with me, right?"

"Ha, no. You're an Avery. You have enough money, plus he's my brother which means his money is mine," she says, kissing his cheek.

Ivy and April lead their group of residents to check in when she bumps into a guy, "Oh. Sorry. Thats- oh, Case Western Reserve. Uh, do you know Ted Stevenson, head of trauma?"

"I do, yeah," he says.

"He just offered me a job. I might be an attending there. April Kepner, Seattle," she puts her hand out to shake.

"Kevin Banks. I'm the guy whose job you took. I was waiting to hear, but I guess I just heard. Thanks a lot."

Ivy let's out a little laugh as she drags April back over to the group, "Well, he hates me."

Ivy takes a seat on Jacksons lap as Alex asks, "How do you do that? You've been here, like, two minutes."

"My examiner is gonna hate me, too, instantly," April shakes her head.

"Stop that. Stop psyching yourself out," Ivy directs her.

April lists the statistic she's been saying the whole trip, "One in five people fail the boards."

"Fine. Psych yourself out," Cristina tells her.

"Its just a test. We've all dealt with worse. No one's bleeding out on your table. We will be fine," Jackson tells the group.

Alex snorts, "Dude, you're just calm because you have Little Shep over there."

Jackson shakes his head, "No, not entirely. I'm calm because we've got this. Ivy is just a plus."

Meredith and Cristina get up and face away from the group, and then April goes up to them. Soon, Meredith leans over and pukes. Cristina and Ivy take Meredith to get cleaned up and once they come back, Meredith gets questioned.

"Zola has the stomach flu and you didn't say anything?" Jackson asks Mer.

"How could you? Are-are you trying to sabotage us all?" April accuses.

Ivy rolls her eyes, rubbing Meredith's back, "Its not like it's the black plague."

April continues on her rampage, "You are supposed to be our friend."

"Lets all just calm-" Ivy starts before Jackson drags her back to his side.

"Nope, you are staying away from Mer as long as she's sick."

Meredith goes to walk forward but Alex warns her, "Y-you stay right where you are, Typhoid Mary. Come on. Let's go register."

Jackson grabs Ivy and they go to wait in line, first to his line. Alex looks at Jackson, "Dude, is that your mom?"

"Baby," Ivy hears the voice of the one and only Catherine Avery.

"Oh, no," Jackson says.

"I know. I know you don't want to see your mother before the boards. But they are wearing this old girl out. Got me examining three sessions tomorrow, and I might not see you so I had to say good luck to you, and Ivy, my dear!" Catherine says, pulling Ivy into a hug.

Jackson accepts a kiss on the cheek from his mother, "Thank you, mom."

Catherine starts digging through her purse, "Oh, and I brought it."

"No, no, that's fine. You don't-" Jackson tries shoving her purse away.

"Its in here somewhere."

"Thats fine. Thats okay."

Catherine smile sat him, "Thats what you always say, but you always want it in the end."

Jackson nods, "Okay, all right. Mom, I'm good. I am."

"I'm in room 809 when you change your mind," she says.

Catherine hugs Ivy again before leaving. They get back in line and Alex starts picking fun of Jackson, "Mommy bring your binky?"

Jacksons hold around Ivys shoulders tightens, "Its my lucky pencil. She brought my lucky pencil."

"You know this is an oral test, right?" Alex double checks.

"Yes, I know, okay? It's just, I used it for my S.A.T.s, and my M.C.A.T.s, and my intern exam," Jackson lists, his head hanging lower with each test listed.

Alex asks, "So it's your binky?"

Ivy has stifle her laughter as Jackson nods, "Its... sort of like my binky, yeah."

Ivy holds Jacksons face in her hands, "Hey, it's adorable."

"You were laughing at me," he points out.

"I laugh alot."

"Yeah, su-" he's cut off by Ivy kissing him quickly.

She starts walking off, "I'll be in my line if you need me."

"Dude, you're so whipped."
