Through the Blaze

Ivy tries to lift the machine that fell on Erin off of her. Erin coughs, "Stephanie? Help!"

Edwards calls out, "Erin? Ivy?"

"Stephanie! We're over her. Can you walk?" Ivy asks.

"Don't do that! I thought you were dead!" Erin cries.

"I told you she wasn't. Edwards, can you get over here?"

Ivy reassures Erin, "Just hang on. Stephanie is going to find a way over to us. Stephanie, is he gone?"

Stephanie nods, "Uh, yeah, yeah. He's very, very gone. Keep your face low or tucked into Ivys shirt, okay? Stay as far away from the fire as you can."

"She can't! The x-ray machine fell and impaled her leg. I can't get it out by myself. Get over here, safely," Ivy tells her.

Edwards manages to make it over to the duo and helps Ivy lift the machine to see what's going on.

Erin cries, "Ow, ow! Move it off, please!"

Ivy shakes her head, "We can't, honey, it's keeping all the blood in your leg. I know it probably hurts but we have to wait until Stephanie and I can find a way to fix your leg. Edwatds, is there anything to tie the leg off and some gauze?"

"Yeah, yeah," Edwards ties a rope around the leg as explosions happen around them.

"I want my mom," Erin says.

"You know, when I was a kid, I was in the hospital a-a lot. And they would have to-" Edwards distracts.

"Ow! Ow!"

Ivy smoothes Erin's hair down, "Its okay. She's helping."

Edwards continues, "They would do a bunch of stuff that hurt me, too. And I hated it. I hated it. So, do you know what I would do?"

Erin asks, "What?" As Ivy and Stephanie lift the machine off.

"I would clench my fists, real tight-tight as I could. Sometimes my, uh, nails would dig into my hands, and I would even break the skin sometimes, but it helped. The more I thought about my hands, the less I thought about anything else. And sometimes I would just scream my head off. And it would drive my doctors crazy, but...it made me feel better," Stephanie shares.

Ivy grabs her instruments, "Okay, Erin, what I'm about to do is going to hurt. I need you to do what ever you need to to get through the pain. Scream, clench your fists, whatever. Stephanie and I are sorry, but this is going to hurt."

As Ivys scissors dig into Erins leg, she starts screaming, "Okay, Erin, I'm going to loosen this to see if there's less bleeding, okay? Look, less blood. Good girl. Now, while both Stephanie and I are holding this up, it is heavy. Skooch out. Don't bend the leg."

They drop it as Erin got out. They each grabbed an arm and basically lifted her off the ground, "Don't put any weight on it. Weight on us. Good girl. Good girl. Good girl."

Once out of the closet, a flaming beam falls down, "How do we get around it?"

Edwards and Ivy share a look, "We- well, we can't. We can't. Hold on."

Ivy grabs a blanket and doses it in water. She then pulls Edwards over and gets her fully wet, "Stephanie is going to pick you up. When she says so, you're going to take a deep breath. Stephanie, I'm going to put this blanket around you, make sure it covers her the entire way. Get out of here, I'll be following in a second."

She watches as they jump through the fire and out the door. Ivy gives a sigh of relief before grabbing another blanket. She doeses it and herself with water and quickly follows. They all cough before looking down the stairs.

"We can't go down there," Erin shakes her head.

"Theres the roof," Edwards looks up.

Ivy nods, "Okay, Erin. Put your arms around us as tight as you can, we're gonna go up, one step at a time. Come on."

Edwards asks, "Almost there, okay?"

"Okay."

Ivy get sto the door but it's locked. It won't open and she doesn't have her key card, "No! No!"

Erin tries to say, "We can go down. We can make it through the fire," as Ivy slides down the door to sit on the floor, her leg killing her, "So we're stuck."

The surgeons shake their heads, "No. No, we're not stuck. We're gonna sit right here and hold this blanket over our heads, and we're gonna be just fine. Come on."

"No. That's pulling the covers over your head. My mom said when things get scary, you don't do that," Erin backs away, "You turn on the light so the scary goes away."

"Look, I'm a mom too. In this case, it's okay. This blanket is our best chance. Come here," Ivy holds her hand out.

They quickly sit down and put the blanket over Erin, "No. The scary will get you two."

Ivy shakes her head, "I'm a mom. Scary doesn't find me."

Edwards adds, "And I have ways to keep the scary away from me."

Looking down, Ivy sees her card, "Thats my card!" She gets up and starts to head down the stairs, "Stephanie, make sure her face stays covered. And cover your too. Now! Remember, fists."

"Ivy! Come back!" She hears Erin cry.

Quickly, she grabs her card and races back up the stairs, coughing the entire time, "Lets get out of here."

They burst through the door, inhaling the fresh air. Edwards picks Erin up and lays her down before the surgeons race to the edge, "Help! Somebody! Help! Up here! Help!"

"Ivy. Stephanie," Erin mumbles as she passes out.

"Wait. No. Erin! Erin! No! Erin, don't! Hey, Erin, stay with us. Erin. No. Somebody help us! Please!"

○○○○*Jackson's POV*

Maggie goes up to Jackson as he coughs, "Put your mask back on. And-and, no, no one has seen Ivy or Edwards. But that doesn't mean that-"

Jackson spot Bailey, "Hey, chief! Any word on Ivy? Or Edwards? No one's seen them since the lockdown. I told Minnick to tell the police that they were missing."

Bailey sees Minnick, "Minnick? What did the cops say about Shepherd-Avery and Edwards."

"Oh, my God. I forgot."
