. She quickly puts on a yellow trauma gown, as she meets up with the rest of the group at the doors of the ER. Derek was walking ahead of the group as soon as the ambulance came to a stop, "Carter you're with me, Karev with Torres and Grey with Bailey." Derek assigned the residents to their attendings, "Tom Kates is in this ambulance."

"The quarterback?" Alex questioned, shocked and confused on how Derek knows Tom Kates the quarterback.

"If you see photographers call security. Tell your interns no autographs, no pictures. I see anyone pull out a camera phone, it's going on the toilet." Bailey concluded, as Allison put on her gloves.

"So the three of us are on one patient?" Allison asked, wondering why so man residents helping only one patient.

"He's a high profile patient. He gets a lot of attention." Bailey said, as Derek walked over to Tom.

"I thought we agreed to stop meeting like this?" Derek smiled at Tom.

"What can I say man? I missed your smiling face." Tom replied making Derek shake his head.

"Head trauma, but G.C.S. 15 since regaining consciousness. He's got high/lowed by couple of their linebackers dropped like a rock." The paramedic said, as they walked Tom to a trauma room.

"I'm gonna need a head C.T." Derek told Allison, who nodded her head to make the call for a head C.T.

"You know you've been avoiding Avery." Derek pointed out to Allison as he wrote on the chart. Allison and Derek are leaning against the window as some of the attendings are watching Tom Kates accident on the computer desktop at the nurse's station.

"Shut up, you're like the millionth person pointing it out." Allison rolled her eyes at him, not wanting to go into why she is back to avoiding the green eyed Avery. "I will tell you when I want to tell you."

"Oh, Hey! Look who's here." Derek looked up from a patient's chart. Addison Montgomery came to a stop as Mark was alongside her. Allison smiled seeing the familiar red head back in Seattle.

"Good to see you." Callie told her wrapping her arms around her as Allison sends her a small smile and a wave. She wasn't close with the Montgomery red head but she didn't have a problem with her either.

"What are you doing here?" Miranda asked her surprised to see her here.

"Sloan's got a little something going on with the baby." Mark responded to her. During the holiday's Mark Sloan found out he was a dad to a eighteen year old, shocking everyone. Allison was out of town that week since she went to visit her aunt back in Boston for the holidays.

"Is she okay?" Allison spoke up furrowing her eyebrows. She knew Addison would only be here if the problem was serious and not just a checkup by Addison Montgomery.

"We'll figure it out."

Mark pulled out his phone from his lab coat pocket, "I'm gonna see if they're ready"

Dr. Bailey snapped when she finally got her patient's blood results from an intern, making Allison raise her brows as Bailey walked away from them.

"She's perkier than usual." Addison comments watching the attending leave.

"Well, divorce will do that to you." Callie chuckled. "She'll move on and be happy soon. She just needs somebody to move on to."

"Well that can't be so hard." Addison chuckles shrugging her shoulders, glancing at Derek "Hey, wait. What about you? Can't you find her someone?"

Allison starts to laugh, "Derek? A matchmaker? It's not his area."

Bailey walked inside with a piece of paper handing it to Derek, "He needs a transfusion." Derek nods his head seeing the results of the paper as well. "The splenic lac is bleeding more than I thought."

"Carter?" Derek called out to her wanting to know what she would do, since he knows she's planning on specializing in Neuro.

"We have to take a look at the C.T.'s. and come up with a game plan"

Mark walked back, making Addison and Callie follow leaving Derek, Bailey and Allison alone. Allison looks at Derek's smiling face knowing what he's about to do. Derek chuckles plastering his best McDreamy smile, "You know Dave from Oncology? Single."

"You wouldn't be starting a conversation about my personal life, would you?" Bailey sent him a deadly stare.

"Bad idea? He's handsome."

"Bad idea." Bailey nodded not wanting to talk about her personal life leaving the two alone. Once she was gone, Allison finally let out her laugh she was holding in.

"Good job, Shep " She said sarcastically as she chuckled patting his shoulder.  Derek rolled his eyes at her.

Allison was on her way to go meet Derek in Tom's room, when a voice stopped her of course she knew who it was she just wasn't ready to talk to him yet. "Allie, we have to talk. Please."

Allison stiffened at her nickname. She wanted to talk, she wanted to know why he left her the way he did. She wanted to know everything. After he left she felt like she wasn't enough to make him stay, but she wasn't ready. Jackson Avery broke Allison Carter.

Allison turned around finally facing him as he looks at her chocolate brown eyes. "Jackson, I'm not ready to talk to you." She softly told him. She didn't want to cause a scene, and she didn't want people in the hospital to know that they had a past, "When I'm ready to talk to you, I'll let you know. But no one can know about us."

Jackson furrowed his brows, that wasn't what he expected, he expected some yelling, some shoving but he should have known, Allison Carter is different which is why he fell for her.

"Okay." Jackson nodded, clearing his throat. Allison noticed how close they were so she took a few steps backwards distancing herself, making Jackson frown. His eyes traveled to a necklace she was wearing, it was new. Out of all the years they were together he has never seen her with a necklace unless on special occasions. It was a silver chain, it was holding a ring. Jackson eyes went wide, he recognized it. Allison Carter was wearing her engagement ring as a necklace.

Allison noticed Jackson's eyes travel to her neck. She mentally cursed herself, she should have stopped wearing the necklace once she found out he worked here but it became a habit to always wear it.

"You still have it?" Jackson asked her, catching her off guard with the question, "I would've thought you sold it or something."

Allison shook her head, "I couldn't. It was the last thing I had of you." She shrugged it off like it was no big deal, but for the both of them it was. Jackson couldn't help but have hope for them to get back together—-even if he doesn't deserve a second chance.  Allison had hope too, she hopes he'll fight for her.  "Goodbye Jackson."

Jackson once again watched her retrieving figure walk down the hallway. He couldn't help but smile, there's hope for them—he hoped there was.

Meredith told Allison about Alex going back to his old ways. Of course, both girls didn't want him to go back to the old Alex, who only hooked up with girls and then dumped them. Meredith assured she went to go talk to Alex. Cristina got her solo surgery today and as good friends the two of them were watching as Alex and Reed are in front.

"I told Torres to let you scrub in if she was cutting." Allison overheard Alex tell Reed. Allison glanced at Meredith who was already staring at her as they both share a look.

"Cool." Reed nodded, trying to sound confident but she sounded nervous.

"Book an on-call room."

"What—What happened to drinks first?" Reed asked, nervously as she glanced at Alex for a second before having her attention back at the surgery.

"It's kind of a waste of time, right? Cut to the chase." Alex informed her.

"Hey, Reed. Do you know Izzie Stevens?" Meredith spoke up, not liking the idea of Alex hooking up with someone while he was still married.

"Grey." Alex warned.

"Yes. I met her before she got fired." Reed responded back turning to face the girls.

"You know she's still Alex's wife, and she's not here right now but they are still married." Allison said, glaring at Reed as she crossed her arms.

"Allison, shut up." Alex sternly said, making Allison anger rise up.

Allison scoffed, "No, some people think you're divorced and you're not." She looked at Reed, she never liked her especially when she took George's cubby. "I get it she left you, but you are married." Allison spat, lifting herself up from the chair leaving the gallery room.

When Allison walked inside the house, she made her way to the kitchen finding Derek drinking a beer. She raised her brow in surprise, she expected him to be in bed with Meredith.

"What's up with you?" Allison asked, opening the fridge to grab a beer as well, as she made her way to sit down next to Shepherd.

"Meredith and I, are having a disagreement." Derek responded as he faced her, "What about you?"

Allison drily chuckled, "I had an argument with Alex." She faced him, "And my ex-fiancee works at the hospital." Derek eyes go wide not expecting that.

"You were engaged?" He asked her. Allison nods her head.

Allison nodded. Derek's arm made it to her shoulder, pushing her for a side hug as her head rested on his shoulder. The two not knowing what they would do without one another, and they don't want to find out, because Derek Shepherd and Allison Carter are each other's person.
