in the pit with a little girl and her parents, as she walked towards her. Allison nodded but before she could speak the little girls dad looked at Arizona.

"She's in a lot of pain." The man told the doctors.

"Ruby Kendall, age nine." Allison presented handing Arizona the scans, "Fever, tenderness over McBurney's point."

"All right, appendix. Let me check your belly." Arizona gave Ruby a small smile as Allison watched Arizona gently start to examine Ruby's abdomen.

"Ow" Ruby inhaled sharply.

"Oh, yeah." Arizona nodded, "You have a very angry appendix."

"That's surgery?" Mrs.Kendall asked, "She needs surgery."

"Yes, she does, but the good news is, it's the easiest surgery in the world." Arizona assured the worried parents before nodding at Allison, "I mean, she could do it."

"You're gonna let me do it?" Allison asked, surprised laced in her tone.

"You're going to let her do the surgery?" Mrs. Kendall asked.

"Oh, no, no, no. Of course not." Arizona shook her head, "I'm gonna do it. I'm kinda fabulous at it, and Ruby, you're gonna be outta here by tomorrow with a teeny tiny little scar and a very good excuse to have your parents feed you ice cream every night of the week." Arizona glanced at Allison, "Dr. Carter, admit her to peds and make sure she's comfortable while we get an OR."

Allison nodded her head as she smiled at the parents ready to get a room for Ruby on the peds floor.

Allison pager went off informing there was a lockdown, she furrowed her brows as she saw Mark at the nurses station talking with Lexie. Allison was going to do Arizona's post-ops as she begins to walk up the stairs.

"Sir, you can't leave this area." Nurse Vivian yelled at the man who was just starting to climb the steps.

Allison turned around to see a man just standing there. Before she could say anything Gary Clark raised the gun and fired two shots into Vivian. Allison eyes went wide as she heard people yell to get down, while she ran down the hallway trying to get away from him.

Allison ran for her life thinking Gary was behind her, she turned around to see she was alone. She quickly opened a door and hid inside a room, her back pressed against the wall, closing her eyes, Allison tried to catch her breath. Once her eyes closed all she could see is Vivian's lifeless body with a bullet hole in her forehead. Footsteps were heard outside the door making Allison's breath hitch in her throat as Gary Clark roamed the hallway going to a different floor.

Allison walked slowly and quietly to the OR floor. She was shaking, her tears already dry on her cheeks.

Once Jackson informed Owen and Teddy about the shooter they decided to take the patient to the ICU. Owen opened the door and began to wheel the patient down the hallway with Teddy behind him.

Upon hearing footsteps Allison froze as a scream left her lips, her hands were held up to the air, "Don't shoot!" Allison sobbed, "P-Please—I'm s-somebody's child."

"Carter." Owen slowly spoke as he tried to reach her but she pulled away. Jackson came to view and saw the state she was in. He gently wrapped his arms around her as he took her inside the scrub room.

"It's okay, you are okay." Jackson soothed to a shaking Allison, "I'm here."

"He killed people. He-He shot V-Vivian." Allison cried, "I-I don't know where my friends are."

The pair were seated down next to each other on the ground. Allison seemed to be calmed down, her head resting on Jackson's shoulder as his arms were wrapped tightly around her. Her eyes were focused on the things in front of her, both heads turned quickly to the door when they heard the door open.

"I'm gonna go check it out." Jackson unwrapped his arm around her shoulders as he stood up. Jackson noticed the worried features cross Allison's face, "I'll be fine."

Jackson opens the door as Allison hears someone yell, "You are not supposed to be walking around."

"Damn it, Jackson." Cristina responded standing up from the ground.

Jackson notices the blood on Cristina's scrubs, "Is that your blood? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Go get Altman." Cristina pointed to the OR.

"Altman's not down here." Jackson answered, as Allison slowly got up from the ground.

"Go get Hunt then."

"They left." Jackson answered.

"What—they left?" Cristina asked in her normal voice as she looked at Jackson and then at Allison who stood beside him. "Okay, someone just shot Derek." Allison's breath hitched in her throat. "He's got a G.S.W. to the chest and he need surgery right now. Tell me there's an attending on this floor."

There was a pause, as Jackson and Cristina stared at each other. "April in the OR behind me, there are two OR nurses and an anesthesiologist. Get 'em." Tears rolled down her cheeks as Allison looked between Cristina and Jackson knowing what they are thinking. "Tell 'em to set up for a cardiac procedure."

"What—Why?' April stammered, "If we don't have a surgeon, what are we gonna do?"

"We have a surgeon." Allison whispered.

"You can do this right?" Allison asked Cristina as she and Meredith stood in front of her. "You're sure?"

"Every G.S.W is different. Okay? It's not a blueprint. It's half instinct and half improv, and I'm very good." Cristina let out a breath she didn't know she was holding, "For a resident...I am very good for a resident."

Meredith didn't answer as tears welled up in her eyes. She and Allison tried to leave but Cristina stopped them, "You both can't be in there. I can't do this if you are both staring at me with your big sad 'don't kill McDreamy' eyes."

The door leading inside the OR opened revealing April walking in, "We're ready for you."

"April, Meredith is going to sit here on the floor. I want you to stay with her, if she tries to enter my OR or even if she looks like she's getting up to take a peek, I want you to stop her, okay?" Cristina pauses, "Same goes for Allison."
