the happiest moments of every parents life. Allison never believed that when she fell pregnant she would lose her baby the same day, he would be born. When her water broke she soon felt the contractions hit her.
Jackson immediately paged Dr. Martinez and wheeled Allison to the O.B. floor the parents getting ready to meet their son and say goodbye.
Allison wasn't ready, she wasn't ready to say goodbye, she wasn't ready to cry and grieve her baby boy. She wanted him to be healthy, to bring him home, to have him grow up and have a healthy life.
Jackson wasn't ready, he wasn't ready to see his son and say goodbye. He wasn't ready to grieve, he wasn't ready to see his wife grieve and waddle in sadness.
"Pa—Page Alex and Meredith, they need to—they're going to need to wait so they could operate on Mark." Allison softly told her husband, once she was inside her birthing suite. She shook her head, "I should've told Derek. I should have told him, Jackson."
"He knows." Jackson revealed, holding her hand, "I called him last night."
"Yeah?" Allison cried. Jackson nodded his head, caressing Allison's hair softly.

The E.R. was filled due to the earthquake that hit Seattle, news about Allison giving birth hit the hospital. Bailey was the first one to gather with Owen, "H-How are Allison and Jackson?"
Owen sighed, looking around the E.R., "No word."
Callie joined the group she looked at the two of them, "What are we gonna do for them?"
"Flowers?" Ben suggested but frowned his eyebrows, "No, that's weird."
"What else can we do for them?" Callie asked.
"Do for who?" Alex asked, joining the group with Jo beside him. He hasn't gotten news about his close friend being in labor.
"Allison and Jackson."
"What?" Alex frowned his eyebrows, looking around the room, "What's happening?"
"Allison is about to give birth." Owen informed him. Alex's eyes went wide bringing out his phone to text Meredith.
"Crap, we didn't even tell Shepherd." Alex walked away knowing he and Meredith had to prepare to donate the organs with Dr. Martinez.

The doctors at Grey-Sloan stood outside the birthing suit waiting for the time they needed to take Allison's baby away from her. April sat on of the chairs letting her tears flow, feeling sorry for her friends. Alex sat in a chair, his leg bouncing up and down in worry as they heard Allison's cries.
Callie, Arizona, Bailey, Maggie sat outside waiting for them. Amelia on the other hand leaned against the wall beside Meredith, the two holding grim expressions. Seconds later, Derek walked towards them a worried expression on his face.
"What the hell happened?" He asked, looking at everyone, shaking his head in denial, "She told me her baby was fine."
"Derek." Amelia warned, shaking her head. Derek looked at the grim and saddened expressions on everyone's face and he frowned. The pleading screams of Allison not wanting to give birth caused him to hold his own saddened expression.
Inside the room, Allison shook her head, sweat could be seen on her forehead as she pushed holding Jackson's hand tightly, "I can't do this anymore."
Dr. Martinez sat on a chair as she looked down but she glanced back up, "You're doing great, Allison, but I need you to stop pushing for a while."
Allison cried, "I have to, if I don't push, it hurts too much."
The pain was unbearable, she couldn't quite describe what she was feeling. The drugs only took a bit of the pain away but they wouldn't be able to take the pain she felt knowing her son won't get to grow up.
Allison felt the tears roll down her cheeks, holding Jackson's hand tightly she faced him, "Our baby is going to die."
"I know sweetie, I know." Jackson softly shook his head, caressing her hair out of the way. He felt his tears starting to form but he had to be strong for Allison. The Avery doctor struggled to keep from pushing.
Dr. Martinez nodded, "You can push, push, Allison."
And she did, she pushed as hard as she could until her baby came out. There was no crying, a baby with no brain couldn't cry. Dr. Martinez wrapped their baby boy in a nursery blanket, she made sure Mark wore a small cap so that Jackson and Allison wouldn't constantly look at their brainless baby.
Allison slightly sat up as Dr. Martinez made her way to the parents and gently handed Mark to them. Allison sniffled, looking up at her husband and then back at their baby boy, "Mark Norbert Avery, you are so beautiful."
"He's a tough little guy." Jackson sniffed, admiring his son.
"This is our son." Allison cried. Jackson wrapped his arm around Allison, who held their baby. The two of them sharing a moment with Mark, appreciating his looks and appreciating the time they get to spend with him.
Dr. Martinez looked up at them, "Would you like to have guests to meet your son?"
Jackson looked at Allison, who nodded. Few seconds later, the room was filled with people they love. Catherine, Derek, Meredith, Alex and April walked inside the room—having to be close friends and the doctors agreed to only have those five people enter the room.
"This is our son." Jackson announced his voice slightly cracking, all of the doctors giving them sympathetic looks, "Mark Norbert Avery."
Mark let out a labored breath causing Allison to hold a panicked expression, she looked up at Dr. Martinez, "What's happening? What—What's wrong?"
Dr. Martinez inhaled her breath before exhaling, "He's in respiratory distress."
Allison shook her head, "No. Not yet. We're—We're not ready."
"It's okay to change your mind." Meredith assured her friends, who glanced down at their son. "You both can just hold your boy for as long as he has—we can do that."
Alex glanced down, "If not, we, uh, we need to give him to the transplant team right now."
Jackson and Allison looked at one another, their tears streaming down their faces, she glanced down at her son, lightly touching his chin, "Your nonna and papa are waiting for you—so you won't be alone, and you'll meet Lexie, George and Mark."
Allison lightly placed a kissing on his head, and Jackson did the same before she gave him to Dr. Martinez. Meredith watched the doctor place him inside the incubator before she and Alex followed behind her to operate on Mark. Derek, and Catherine stayed with the crying parents, as Allison cried in Jackson's arms, the two of them watching their transplant team take away their son.

Dr. Martinez, Meredith and Alex quickly scrubbed in as they placed baby Mark onto the O.R. table. Meredith carefully worked her instruments as she took out the organs, and Alex carefully placed them on a cooler full of ice while Dr. Martinez distributed the organs out and called out where they would be going.
"This is for Sacramento." Dr. Martinez called out to the doctors who have travelled for the organs.
Meredith placed another organ inside a bucket of ice and heard someone say that the organ is for Los Angeles.
"This is for Boston." Alex called out and handed the cooler to one of the doctors. The process went on, until they reached to harvest the heart, Maggie switched positions with Meredith, as she gently removed the heart. The sound of the monitor flatlining caused Alex to shake his head.
"Turn that thing off." Alex ordered one of the scrub nurses not wanting to hear the flat line, reminding them that their friend's child is gone.

After Meredith and Alex had informed Jackson and Allison that the transplant was complete, they gave the couple some alone time to grieve for a moment. Allison took a nap while Jackson stared at her sleeping. He only wondered how they could move on from something so painful.
Catherine had told her son to go down to the cafeteria and eat some food and maybe try to bring something for Allison to eat when she wakes up, but he refused wanting to be there for her when she woke up. Derek assured him, he'll let him know when she awoke.
Allison's eyes fluttered open causing Derek to sit up from his seat. She looked at him, "What are you doing here?"
"Well, you're my best friend." Derek informed her, "I came as soon as I heard, you needed me here. You should have told me, Allie."
"I didn't want you to worry and pack up your stuff to come back here." Allison shook her head.
"You're my best friend." Derek repeated, "Of course, I would've dropped everything to see you just like you would do the same thing for me."
"I had a baby, Derek. For a few minutes there, I was someone's mom and Jackson was someone's dad." Allison lightly nodded.
"You're still someone's mom just like Jackson is someone's dad. He's just not here anymore." Derek softly told her, holding her hand lightly squeezing it.
Allison nodded holding his hand, "I missed you."
"I missed you, too." Derek nodded, "And I'm not going anywhere."
