⇢ CHAPTER 55

the first thing that greeted Holly as she stared up at the blue sky in front of her. Blue skies used to bring comfort to Holly on the bad days-- she'd love to stare up at the sky and rest her head up, simply basking in the beauty of it all.

She never thought her love for blue skies would fade as pain began to settle down on her side.

✈︎

"--y... H-Holly..." Lexie weakly spoke, banging the seatbelt she held in her hand against the metal on top of her. Her eyes were planted on the redhead, who laid down on the hard ground a few feet away, "H-Holly..."

✈︎

, Holly remembered, blinking hard as her eyes began to water from the pain in her side. Using one hand to bring herself up while the other ghosted her side, Holly's eyes widened once she saw a piece of glass sticking out of her side.

A. Piece. Of. Glass.

She hyperventilated, a sheer amount of shock entering her body as she stared at  sticking out of . Sure, she had seen plenty of trauma cases with foreign objects protruding out of her patients, but she never expected to see such a thing on her.

Crazily looking around, she sighed in relief for a second as she saw a shirt to her right.

, she thought, eyes scanning the somewhat clean cloth,

Her hands gripped at the two sides before she used her strength to rip the shirt through the middle in order to have a longer piece of cloth that would hopefully be long enough to tie around her waist.

Taking a sharp inhale, Holly used the cloth to create a barrier between her hand and the glass as she wrapped her hand around it before quickly yanking it out.

Holly winced greatly before looking down at the blood beginning to seep out of her wound, and with a heavy sigh, she began to tie the cloth around her waist.

As she did so, Holly brought her head up to look at her surroundings. She saw scattered pieces of clothing, pieces from the plane she was just in, trees, dirt, and blood. She frowned her eyebrows as her eyes eventually landed on her bloody and dirty arms before a pain came from behind her.

She brought her hand behind her to touch the back of her head and shock filled her once more as her hand touched liquid. , she figured,

She deepened the frown in her eyebrows as she felt more pain before ultimately turning around to see what was happening, figuring someone was throwing something at her-- and what greeted her would scar Holly for life.

There, lying under a heaping junk of metal used to guide the now crashed plane, was Lexie Grey with a torn seatbelt in hand.

Holly saw Lexie mouth something before flashing her a smile, showcasing her blood covered teeth-- the sight made Holly hold in a gag as her eyes examined the state her friend was in.

As quick as she could, Holly quickly ran over to her friend before falling beside her, blinking fast to rid her eyes of the water clouding her sight as she ran her eyes over Lexie.

She saw Lexie reach out with a shaky hand and felt her touch the bottom of her ear before she retracted it-- and coating Lexie's hand was a small layer of blood.

Holly's eyes widened before her own hands flew to her ears, touching the red blood that escaped them,

Holly's eyes swirled with panic as Holly held onto Lexie's hand, a soft whimper escaping her as she did so.

Holly noted, . She felt her eyes watering again, the realization coming to her that they could be the only two and there would be nothing Holly could do except hold her hand as Lexie would inevitably bleed out unless help came.

"Lex," Holly spoke, her volume louder than intended but it wasn't like she knew, "do you know where the others are?"

Realizing her friend couldn't hear what she was saying, Lexie shook her head furiously and Holly sighed.

"I..." Holly paused, the hand that wasn't holding Lexie's reached up to her ears, "I can't hear..."

Lexie's own eyes teared up before she nodded, saying something Holly couldn't catch before she pointed behind her.

✈︎

"Lexie." Mark breathed out, holding a hand to the girl's neck to check her pulse, "Lexie."
