Chapter Two

It was Peggy's first day of her intern year, and she couldn't be more excited. She woke up that morning to a phone call from her siblings wishing her good luck on her first day. Once showered and ready she headed to the hospital and into the locker room to get into her scrubs. She groups up with Lexie and their team before heading to find their resident Christina Yang.

They find her writing down in a chart at the nurse's station, she turns her head and gives them an annoyed look. "I have five rules. Memorize them. Rule number one, don't bother sucking up, I already hate you. That's not gonna change."

Peggy looks at her eyes and can tell she's faking her confidence holding in a scoff, "Trauma protocols, phone lists, pagers." She walks away confusing the group, "The nurses will page you. You answer every page at a run...a run. That's rule number two."She turns and sees them all staring at her confused, "Why aren't you following me?"

They grab the stuff on the counter before following her, "Your first shift starts now and lasts 36 hours. You're grunts, nobodies, the bottom of the surgical food chain. You run labs, you write orders, you work every second night until you drop, and you don't complain."

She opens a door where they find a bunch of beds, "On-call rooms. On-call rooms. Attendings hog them, sleep when you can, where you can, which brings me to rule number three, if I'm sleeping, don't wake me, unless your patient is dying. Rule number four, The dying patient better not be dead when I get there, because not only will you have killed someone, you will have woken me for no good reason. Are we clear?" Lexie raises her hand, "Yes?"

"That was four rules. You said five."

"Rule number five...when I move, you move"She puts her hands on her hips staring at them smugly, the group just stares at her confused. A few more seconds pass before she looks down at her pager, she looks up mad and yells at them. "Go!"

They all walk out of the doorway and head out, Peggy looks over at Lexie, "She didn't even give us any instructions, what the hell are we supposed to do?"

Lexie shrugs at her, "I have no idea maybe we should just head to the ER and wait?"

She nods at her, "Yeah, I guess," She suddenly lets out a small laugh, "Did you notice how she is faking  her confidence?" Lexie looks at her confused, "Tell me you noticed the whole," She lowers her voice, "I hate you already so don't even bother sucking up" She gives Lexie a look, "She was talking from a script."

Lexie giggles a little, "Oh yeah I noticed that, the whole "When I move you move" pager move was scripted, and whoever she wanted to page her at the moment failed."

It was a little while later when the interns walked to the ER with Dr Yang and Dr Grey leading them. Peggy sighed annoyed at the two doctors talking about their relationship status. "There's Derek."

"Is Burke with him?" Peggy looks over at Lexie and rolls her eyes at the two gossiping residents. The brainiac stifles a laugh turning back to listen to the residence.

Dr Grey looks around the room shaking her head, "I don't see him." They walk into the ER walking towards Dr Torres who was leaning against the nurse's station.

The woman scoffs at them as the rest of the interns walk in, "Where have you been? We have multiple MVC'S due any second."

One of the residents they haven't been introduced to yet raises his arms at the woman, "We're here, aren't we? We're here."

Torres shakes her head annoyed, "Just...just get ready, okay? And monitor your interns."

Dr Yang turns and waves them off while ordering them, "Okay, one, two, go get stat packs. Uh, three, four, go meet the ambulances." She turns and looks at Peggy, "And five you go get me a scrub gown!" The woman turns away before she could respond.Peggy scoff moving across the room to grab what she was told to.

She can hear Dr Grey laughing, "One and two"? "

Dr Yang shakes her head walking towards Peggy who now stood next to Dr Grey, "No, I can't remember their names." She stands next to her as she's handed her scrub gown, "Okay now follow me five!"

"Peggy" Dr Yang stops and turns around raising her eyebrow at the girl, "Or Dr Gallagher my name is not five!"

The woman gives her a sarcastic smile, "Your name is whatever I tell you it is."

Peggy laughs, "No my name is the one my drunk father gave me as he snorted his coke and, that name, is Peggy." She gives her back a sarcastic smile before walking away and towards the ambulance entrance.

Alex, Izzie, and Meredith laugh looking at their shocked friend, "She told you!" Christina glares at them before walking away.

Peggy walks over to Lexie who was tying her gown, she moves over and helps her out. Someone walks over to stand next to them and they looked over to see George standing there. "So, hey, you're an intern...again."

He nods answering quickly, "Yeah."

Lexie leans over towards him, "We won't tell anybody. The other interns, we won't..."

He shakes his head, "That's...that's okay."

"Do you know which one is Meredith Grey?" Lexie raises her eyebrow at him making Peggy give her a sad smile.

"Yeah, I haven't, uh, told her you're here yet. I was going to..." He says as the ambulance turns the corner.

"So you know who I am?" She says realizing.

"Yeah, I know who you are."

"What's she like? I...I mean, is she nice? 'Cause...cause my dad, he won't...he won't tell me. Is she...she..." She asks as he walks away from them making her trail off.
