Lucia rested her back, on the wall beside the bed. Her lips were a little swollen due to the kiss. She was reminiscing about the mind-blowing kiss. It was her first kiss, and she never thought it was going to happen like that. She heard a knock on the door.
Lucia quickly took her mask and wore it. She knew it would be Lucas at the door, as no one else knew she was there. "Come in." Lucia's steady voice rang out. Lucas opened the door gently and closed it behind him. He looked at Lucia's face and he frowned.
Lucia noticed his frown and she arched a brow at him. He couldn't help his curiosity, he asked, "Why do you always have your face covered?" Lucas asked. Immediately after he asked his question, he knew he had crossed the line. He scolded himself internally, waiting for Lucia to lash out.
Lucia smirked but of course, Lucas couldn't see it. "That is none of your business, Mr. Lucas." She said. Lucas put his head down, he was embarrassed. He also wondered how she knew his name. He hadn't introduced himself to her before. It wasn't surprising that she knew his name.
"Do you have what I asked for?" Lucia said, her eyes trailing to the file in his hands. Lucas immediately nodded. He was glad that the man who made him feel afraid, was not in the ward. He stretched the file towards Lucia, but he couldn't look up at her.
Something about Lucia felt intimidating. He felt he was in the CEO's presence. But Lucas decided to brush it off, thinking it was because he felt embarrassed. Lucia took the file from him and opened it. Her eyes skimmed through the shareholders' names on the file and she was impressed.
Lucas had separated the names. In a way that showed the shareholders who wanted the shares and those who were just on neutral grounds. "Find dirt on all of them. It will come in handy, soon. We need to do some cleaning up." She said, and Lucas wanted to protest.
He was about the speak, as he raised his head. As he met Lucia's eyes, he cowered. She looked at him sharply, daring him to say a word. Lucas immediately nodded, but his heart was grieving. He was about to get out of the ward when Lucia stopped him.
"After you are done with that. You do not need to be here at the hospital. Your presence is needed at the company. I am sure you know what I mean." Lucia said and he nodded. He quickly walked out of the room, wanting to get away from the ward.
Lucas vowed in his heart, that he would tell his grievances to the CEO. He was petty. He did not think that the CEO valued his granddaughter. She had no dealings with the company and not a single share there. He knew how things worked in other socialite families.
__
Hugh had walked out of the hospital grounds. He still had his cap on. He had turned it the other way when he was with Lucia. He noticed that the reporters who were lurking around the hospital vicinity were still there. And more had come to crowd around the hospital.
Hugh walked to the underground parking lot and got into the car. He drove out swiftly. He didn't want to visit the restaurant he went to earlier. He wasn't sure if that person was still there. He knew he would cross paths with the person, but he wasn't ready yet.
Hugh drove around but he couldn't find a place where authentic egg-fried rice was served. He sighed, knowing he would have to go to the restaurant, he went to. Hugh decided that if he eventually crossed paths with the person, he would face him head-on. The person was below him anyway.
Hugh got to the restaurant and parked the car. He got down and his eyes roamed around. He didn't get the time to camouflage his scent. One side of him was ready to meet the person, and the other side didn't want to cross paths with the person.
Before Hugh could enter the restaurant, he felt a hand on his shoulder, from behind. Hugh cringed in disgust, as he knew who it was. He scolded himself for not noticing the person. It wasn't Hugh's fault though, the person had good hiding skills, incomparable to anyone in the pack.
"Hello, brother." Elios said from behind Hugh. His hand was still placed on Hugh's shoulder. He tightened his grip gradually, hoping Hugh would feel pain. Hugh felt pain, but it wasn't much. Their stance right now, to an outsider, looked like Elios was tapping Hugh's shoulder, to get his attention.
"What do you want?" Hugh turned around and looked straight at Elios. His face was stoic and his voice, cold. He didn't fake a smile like Elios. He wasn't happy to see Elios and he wouldn't hide it. Hugh at the same time threw Elios' hand away from his shoulder.
Elios dramatically put the hand that Hugh threw away on his chest. "You hurt me, brother." He said, but he didn't get any reaction from Hugh. "You haven't seen me in years, don't you miss me?" Elios continued to chatter on. Hugh snorted and turned to go inside the restaurant.
Elios followed after Hugh. He was not willing to let Hugh go. As the two walked, they attracted attention from the diners in the restaurant. It was a bit crowded now since it was nighttime already. They were handsome, and both male and female diners couldn't help but admire them.
They also looked like two people who were talking. With Elios looking like a fly buzzing around Hugh. Hugh looked regal, compared to Elios. Hugh had already got to the counter, to order a portion of packed food. Elios could not contain his surprise, "You eat just rice, brother?"
"None of your business." Hugh said through gritted teeth. He knew that people of their nature preferred meat. Raw meat was even better, whenever they were in their wolf form. Elios laughed out loud, startling the restaurant's attendant at the counter. Hugh couldn't help but roll his eyes at Elios.
"I guess you don't how things work here." Hugh said in a voice-like whisper. He knew Elios would hear him, due to his heightened senses as a werewolf. Elios chuckled nonchalantly. Hugh on the other hand wanted to ask Elios why he was here. He was curious to know.
He knew Elios would still talk about it, and he was not far from the truth. "I never knew my luck was good, to see you here." Elios said. He was here for something else and his words implied that. Hugh was momentarily relieved that Elios was not there, for him.
"Now that I have seen you, I'll be sure to tell Azazel about you, here. He missed you." Elios said with a smirk on his face. He knew how Azazel and Hugh detested each other. Hugh on the other hand, kept a blank face when he heard the name Azazel.
Hugh was seething in anger and hatred, inwardly. No one in the pack knew he was here in the vast human world, except X. X wasn't even a member of their pack, because he was an ancient witch. Hugh knew that Elios finding out where he was, spelled trouble.
"What are doing here?" Elios asked curiously and Hugh gave him a nonchalant gaze. "I'll find out." Elios added with a smile. Hugh stiffened slightly but Elios didn't notice, because Hugh's body was already stiff beside Elios. "You're fly, you keep buzzing." Hugh said and his words annoyed Elios, greatly.
At that time, Hugh's order was ready. He took it and left Elios at the counter. He knew Elios always hated being called a fly, but that was what he is, exactly. Hugh hoped that Elios wouldn't run after him, but his hope was dashed when he heard Elios' voice.
"I'm not a fly. Don't you dare call me that." Elios shouted behind Hugh, startling the passerby, as they were outside. Hugh turned to Elios, "You should really learn how to behave. You act just like a fly would." Hugh said tauntingly. He walked around the car, to get in.
Elios followed after Hugh. Hugh sighed tiredly, he wanted to beat him up. Elios didn't know when to stop. He heard Elios say, "I'll find where you are. I'll visit you soon. I'll also tell Azazel about you." Elios said quickly, his angry face quickly morphed into a smiling face.
He looked creepy, as he waved at Hugh, as he drove off. Hugh heard everything Elios said. Who would think they were brothers if the enmity between them was known to outsiders? Hugh also had to keep Lucia safe at all costs. Keep her away from Azazel, Elios, or anyone else.
