I walked back to the bedroom Jackie and I shared after searching almost everywhere. I was worried about her absence after seeing Kimi's meltdown. But that anxiety vanished when I saw her sitting on the bed nearest to the balcony. When I stepped in, she wiped her face immediately and sniffled. 


She was crying. I could see more tears as the moonlight reflected off of them. She wiped them away to hide them but it was already too late. I walked over and sat next to her. What could she be crying about? Did Kimi hurt her? 


Jackie avoided my gaze and only sobbed in response. Was whatever happened that bad? "Did someone hurt you?" 


"N-no..." Jackie whimpered. Her voice was very shaky and her shoulders trembled. Jackie was crying so much that her lips quivered. If someone didn't hurt her, then why was she crying? 


"Jackie, what happened?" I moved closer to her and wiped some of her tears away. 


"Dan..." She whined. "Dan rejected m-me."
