It was in the evening and the sun had already set but still due to the sky refraction, the land was somehow visible. Osei stood under a tree suspiciously facing right and left. Suddenly from a distance, a man walked to Osei. The man asked, “What are you doing here?”
Osei again faced right and left looking as anybody was watching. After it was all clear, nobody was passing by; he pulled the man closer to him to be safer and pulled a dagger out of his back. The dagger was the one that he had hide in his heart that had some bloodstains. Osei said, “Take this I don’t want it.” The man before taking the dagger he responded,
“Cool down what’s wrong?”
“I was nearly killed because of this dagger.”
“How was it known?”
“It’s a long story just take it away.”
The man took the dagger to cool down Osei who was burning and responded, “Ok, it is now in my hand now tell me how was it was known?” Osei still talk in a state of tensing he responded, “Nobody knew it but it was suspected to another story.”
Osei moved more closely to the man and whispered, “How is she now.” The man responded, “Real men are not scared as you are.” Then the man walked away leaving Osei silently looking at him.
At night, Serwa in the kitchen was silently facing the fireplace at the middle of the hut that was lighting up the whole hut. Opokuaa entered the kitchen holding a pot, placed it on the fire and sat beside her daughter. Opokuaa noticed her daughter was stressed up; she sat beside her and asked,
“Why are you so silent like that?”
“Today I saw something strange.”
“What did you see?”
Not knowing how to explain what she saw as she responded in stammer, “I saw Aaah.” Her mother eagerly to hear her words she asked, “What did you saw?” Serwa faced her mother where she suddenly got the courage and asked,
“Have you ever had a feeling that Ofori is alive?”
“What do you mean?”
“I had this feeling today that he was watching me.”
“Serwa have you ever dream with him.”
“No!”
“Oh but know having dreams with dead people is a sigh you are near to die.”
“Mother I know that.”
“I understand what you mean; I always feel the pain in my chest as they rejected us to take Ofori’s body.”
Serwa moved closer to her mother hugged her tight and said, “God will help us get through this.” After a moment of hug, Serwa pulled back and said, “Can you please excuse me.” Then Serwa walked out of the kitchen.
Immediately Serwa walked out of the kitchen she faced right, left where she saw nobody. Then she walked behind the hut towards a tree that was a distance as she was looking for somebody. Beside the tree, there was a guy where Serwa walked to him and said, “I stayed for long you should have gone.” The guy turned to Serwa hugged her and responded, “I miss you.”
By the norms of the community, it was illegal for young lovers to date because of the time ladies were planned by their family of whom to marry, especially if the gut was from a poor background it ward for him to find a wife. Serwa quickly pulled off the hug and said,
“I am sorry.”
“Don’t worry I keep my words love.”
“Ok just go now will meet tomorrow because my mother is waiting for me in the kitchen.”
“I want you to promise you will be on time tomorrow.”
Serwa quickly turned to the hut were still there was nobody. Though she was open to her mother she was afraid of her mother’s temper. She faced back her love gave him a soft light kiss and said, “I promise I will be on time.” He pulled her more closely and responded giving her a long deep kiss.
As they were kissing Serwa heard some movement where she pulled of the kiss as she faced the direction to where she heard the movements. She saw a human shadow in the corner of the hut that suddenly vanished. For a moment she stared at the position not sure of what she had saw. Her guy pulled her thoughts from the scene by asking, “What’s wrong?” where he saw nothing. She turned back to the guy afraid if they were being watched, she responded,
“It is risky you to be found here.”
On flattering word he responded, “I can take any risk for you.”
“No, I don’t want anybody to see you.”
Flattering word are always sweet but not true, the guy afraid of the consequence of being seen walked away as he was smiling leaving Serwa silently concentrating on where she saw the human shadow. Immediately the guy walked away Opokuaa emerged out of the kitchen and saw Serwa where she called her.
Serwa rushing back to the kitchen following her mother in. At a distance, Ofori appeared behind a tree where he faced Serwa and her mother, as they were moving in the kitchen. Immediately Serwa entered the kitchen her mother asked her,
“Why were you under a tree?”
“I just remember I had forgotten something mine under the tree.”
“What was that something.”
Serwa paused facing her mother trying to load the perfect words that will drift the conversation off. Her mother she was an understanding mother she continued after saying her daughter reaction and having a clue of what she was doing, “Ok I respect your privacy. Now take the pot off the fireplace and let’s go to sleep.” she took the pot off the fire as her mother packed things together.
Far from Opokuaa’s home still the same night Ofori was walking slowly on the road that was silent and had nobody. He remembered his past life that he missed but knowing what he had become he could not let anybody see him. Silently as he was walking he went past two men who saw him stopped and shouted, “Hey you!” not wanting anybody to notice him he assumed the men and continued walking silently away.
The men pissed off with his character of assuming them they rushed and stopped before him where Ofori stopped. Ofori knowing what he was capable of doing he played low because deep in his heart it was wrong to kill. One of the men asked him, “Who are you?” Ofori assumed the men by facing them silently.
The second man said, “Don’t you know it’s late and nobody should be walking at this time with the current situation of the community.” Still, Ofori faced the men silently were one of the men said, “This man should be taught some lesson,” as he let loose of his wipe wanting to wipe him.
Before the man made any move Ofori got loss of the beast in him where using his right hand palm he shocked the man’s neck pulled him closer to him and suck the blood off his neck. The scene was so terrifying to the second man where he quickly ran away without turning back where he stopped to hide under a bush as he was breathing heavily.
To where the man was hiding, he heard some footsteps slowly moving towards his right side. As a normal person would do in such a situation, he slowly crawling to his left. Where he bumped into a man’s legs paused and slowly faced up to see who was the man that he bumped. It was shocking for the man to see it was the blood sucking man Ofori. The man astonished by Ofori’s blood sucking character he asked, “Who are you?”
Osei on the other side he was on his way back home to where he saw at a distance a man walking while carrying two men on his shoulder. In his curiosity, he followed the man secretly. He followed the man until where he stopped at the riverbed. Wanting the man not to see him but have a clear look of what the man was doing he hide behind a bush.
At the time, Osei had no clear view at whom was the man. Suddenly he heard some movement on his leg that for a moment detracted him from his spying. Quickly wanting to not miss any scene he slapped of the burg off his leg and continued watching the weird man.
The man weirdly faced up and walked away leaving the two men's bodies lying on the ground, where he vanished off Osei’s view. Thinking the man had gone for good he slowly moved out of the bush and walked to where the men's bodies were laying on the ground. When he was close to the men, he noticed they were dead. Wanting to know more he knelt beside the bodies for an autopsy.
Before making any touch to the dead bodies, he heard movement behind him where he shockingly turned to see. His instincts radioing danger he quickly turned back where he was astonished to see his late dead friend walking to him, word of out his will came out his tongue, “How can this be possible?”
