They couldn't do anything since the victim died. As this bad luck was not enough, Talia had also left a note which the council collected from her house after she was found dead in which she had conveyed that no one was responsible for her death and that it was done on her own will.
All of them were devastated from the loss of Talia and were enraged that they couldn't provide her the justice she deserved. Even Finn, the stone hearted person that everyone in the kingdom knew, shed tears. Noah was enraged to the extent where he was locked in his room for about 3 days. Others could not get over it for a week.
If this was the situation of the six brothers, then what might be the condition of the one who loved her like a mad man?
Alec was traumatised by the loss of someone who had made him understand what true love was. He blamed himself for the unfortunate death. He believed that his love for her was lacking which made her not trust him enough to tell him everything. She was gone and with her, she took his happiness. Young love becomes a bitter nightmare rather than a sweet dream for Alec.
As for Kai, he was more than happy that he was not pronounced guilty but some part of him was ashamed of himself for the decisions he took. He had tortured an innocent soul and made her kill herself which was worse than him taking her life by his own hands. Only a heartless monster would be not at all bothered by such an act. But, Kai was after all just a Man too and his inner conscience was eating him alive.
Present day... At the celebration
Noah was still angry as the images of the past events flashed in his eyes. But, now he could control himself from using his powers irresponsibly. They never took their eyes off the heartless bastard. That's what they had called him since the tragedy. Kai had just come to talk to his father. He rushed out of the hall as soon as he had finished his business to avoid the hateful glares of the seven men from above.
The entry of the uninvited intruder had already ruined the mood of the brothers. But, being the sunshine that he is, Daniel consoled them by cracking senseless jokes and making weird noises. They could not let a person they utterly hated ruin their quality time together.
They all started drinking again but after a few glasses Alec excused himself and went back to his room. As for the others, Liam was already dizzy due to low liquor tolerance. Henry, Finn and Aiden were having a battle on who is going to knock out first by drinking liquor. Daniel was lost in his world and only God knew what was going on in his mind as he sat at the corner like he had no reason to live.
Noah did not drink much and was still in his right mind when he took the three girls to his room. He was about to close the door but a guard interrupted his actions. Noah was annoyed by him and the frown on his face spoke on behalf of his mouth. The guard bowed and stood straight to convey his respect.
"Your highness, I have no intentions of ruining your night. But, His Majesty has asked for your presence in his chambers" he said and again bowed with all due respect and headed back. Noah was not really willing to oblige to the king's orders but he knew the consequences if he did so. He went to the king's chambers as he was expected to. The king was standing facing the window of the dimly lit room and Noah entered to be met by his father's back.
"I was told that you asked for my presence, Your majesty," Noah said as he bowed.
"I might be a king but I am still your father, Noah. The formalities are not necessary" King Seraph said and gave a small pause. He turned around to look at Noah who was looking at the ground with a frown; he then continued.
"You might as well enjoy today because of your victory. But, don't think that I have forgotten your late arrival to the tournament. What do you think the subjects will think about your irresponsible behaviour? It's not once, not twice, but the third time you are repeating it. How do you expect my council to obey my orders when my own son acts like a teenager?" the king growled. Noah didn't even flinch. He just stood there gritting his teeth and tried to compose himself.
"So, it was for this, you called me here? You have made your point that though I'm a prince, I'm not acting like one" Noah said as he started to walk towards the silhouette of his father a few feet away. "You do ask me to treat you like my father" he said as he came closer to his father from behind him.
He leaned slightly to his father's ears and said, "But, do tell me 'father'. When was the last time you even considered me your son or treated me like one and not like the prince?" he clicked his tongue. Noah aggressively walked to the door but stopped and turned back to meet his father's eyes. "I will take my leave now, Your Majesty" he said as he slowly bowed but never broke eye contact.
As soon as Noah left, the king banged the desk in the room with frustration. He never understood the reason for his son's cold behaviour towards him. How would he know when he never tried to show love and affection to his only son?
He was disappointed, sad, angry and frustrated. But, he is the king and according to him showing emotion of any kind was a weakness. Maybe this belief of his was the core reason he never acknowledged his son's feelings.
Noah went to his room stomping down the hallway. As he entered the room, the three girls shivered at the sight of the angry prince. "Get out!" he yelled at the girls who flinched and ran outside the room.
Noah's anger was at the peak due to the heated confrontation with his father. And when his anger is at its peak, his anger turns into something else, tears. He cried his heart out as he sat on the ground burying his face in his hands. He was tired of pitying himself for being born in a world of politics. The rules were suffocating him and making it hard for him to hide his real emotions.
He stopped sobbing after some while and went to his bed. He made himself comfortable thinking about today's events and never realised when he blacked out.
Next morning Noah opened his eyes to the bright sunlight from the grand window in his room. Today was that day of the month when they can explore the forests outside the kingdom. The forest which was near the borders of the human territory. All the six brothers went to the waterfall which was located exactly at the heart of the forest.
Noah did not waste even a single minute in finishing his morning routine. He entered the royal dining to find his brothers already seated in their respective seats for breakfast. The maids served them their breakfast as they heartily savoured the delicious meals. The food was a treat to the taste buds since it was prepared by the most delicious resources, hand chosen from the royal chefs.
They finished their breakfast and headed to their horses. They had packed their lunch and dinner as they were not sure how long they would be in the forest. They also grabbed their weapons since the forest was filled with not only normal wild animals but also many magical creatures from which they had to defend themselves.
They dashed into the forest on their horses accelerating forward as the wind of the wild brushed their faces. An unknown force was luring them to the depths of the forest just like how ants are lured to sugar. They reached the water fall and got down from their horses. They stood at a cliff where the waterfall had a milky texture of the water that had spread moisture into the air.
They were standing at a dangerous height from the bottom of the waterfall and the fact that the end of the waterfall was not at all visible was proof for that. Then they moved a little back where they could enjoy being in water. They took off their shoes and clothing that covered their torso to enter the water.
Just then, a Water Leviathan appeared from the water. It was not a huge one since it was in the river and not in the sea but the loud growl it made was enough for the boys to understand that the creature had no intention of just crossing by without harming anyone. Liam and Finn both tried to trap the hyperactive dragon-like serpent with a cage of water but the creature was too strong.
Since the skin of the Leviathan was that of a dragons, Noah's attacks were in vain. Although it managed to slow down the creature it didn't stop it. The creature went wild shooting water in all directions but the boys started to confuse it by attacking it from different directions.
Suddenly an idea flashed to Henry. While attacking the monster he screamed to the rest, "Listen everyone. It might be fire proof from the outside but it is not from the inside. I and Aiden will get Noah in the air right in front of it in the middle of the river and Noah will shoot fire at its mouth while it tries to attack him!! And Noah you have to do it fast since both of us have almost exhausted our powers".
All of them agreed by screaming an 'alright'. Just as planned Noah was lifted up in the air and was now right in front of the animal as Liam, Finn, Daniel and Alec were distracting it. He aimed at it and shot a ball of fire to gain its attention. As soon as it saw Noah it launched towards him and opened its mouth. Right on cue Noah shot a huge array of fire to its mouth.
If any other human or other magical being was hit by that kind of an attack, there wouldn't even be remains of their ashes. The monster did die but unfortunately Aiden and Henry couldn't hold Noah any longer and he fell into the water. He was taken away along with the body of the Leviathan.
Being a fire elemental, the river water all around him had weakened his powers. It was difficult for him to get rid of the dead creature and in a blink of an eye both Noah and the animal fell from the edge of the waterfall. The others did arrive but were too late and hence could not save Noah.
All of them got onto their horses and headed to the bottom of the waterfall. They rode their horses at full speed and yet it took them more than an hour to get to the bottom since they had to go round the forest to reach their destination. As soon as they reached there, they hurriedly got down from the horses and started to search for Noah in the water but couldn't find him.
They searched all the nearby bushes, the small cave behind the waterfall and the trees too, but had no progress. Finn put his hand in the water and used his power to track any elemental in it as he feared that he might have flown away with the monster's dead body but couldn't sense anything.
"Where are you Noah?" Henry asked in the air as all of them stood with a gloomy face.
Meanwhile, at the palace...
"Your Majesty! Your Majesty!" The royal sorceress, Lora, came running to the king who was standing on the balcony. It was almost sunset and the king was admiring the view before him.
"What is it?" he asked Lora who was panting to catch her breath. She composed herself to answer the king.
"It's today, Your Majesty; The blood moon day. You have to make sure he is here in the palace. He will be confused if he finds out that he lost his powers all of a sudden" she said.
"When would his powers disappear?" he asked. "It will be gone before sunset, Your Majesty. You can't let him go anywhere today!" she said with concern.
"Lora, if the prophecy is true, then a hybrid must exist and I don't think that there are any hybrids in or around our kingdom. As for the human territory, the people there will not spare a chance to kill a hybrid if they did find one" the king said to Lora who shook her head in disagreement.
"You cannot take any chances on that, Your Majesty. I know that kid pretty well; he adores his powers too much. If he finds out that they are gone, he will go mad! And a hybrid is a lot stronger than any normal elemental. They can control their powers better than us since their emotions are more stable like that of humans. Their chances of being caught is a very slim one" she said, trying to convince the king.
"Alright. I will keep him occupied so that he doesn't leave the kingdom" the king said and called one of the guards. One of them arrived and bowed to the king.
"Call the boys," he said to him. The soldier was ready to move when another one of them came running to the king. He bowed to the king and said.
"I am sorry for my intrusion, Your Majesty. Your son and your nephews had gone to the forest today for recreation. They have returned back now. But, y-your s-son-" he stuttered.
"What about my son ?" the king asked worry written all over his face. But he was horrified when he heard what the guard said next,
"They said that your son is missing".
