Chapter 21; Let's go Home

Alexia froze, her fingers tightening around the steering wheel. The man's stare was hypnotic, suffocating. A cold sweat broke out on her skin as her mind screamed for action—escape, fight, something. But fear had her locked in place.

The man's grin widened as he leaned forward. His voice was low, mocking. "You shouldn't have been so careless, little girl."

A shiver ran down her spine. This wasn't a random attack. He had been waiting for her.

Her hand trembled as she reached for the door handle but it was locked.

Think, Alexia. Think.

Her throat felt dry, but she managed to whisper into her earpiece, "Zeke…" Her voice was barely audible.

Zeke's sharp, worried voice cut through. "Alexia? What's wrong? Where are you?"

A dark chuckle rose from the backseat, and in the mirror, she caught the glint of something terrifying—pure malice, burning red.

Her heart pounded. She was in danger.

The click of a gun sent ice through her veins. The cold barrel pressed against her temple.

"Start driving." His voice was calm but filled with threats.

Alexia hesitated.

He nudged the gun deeper. "Or else."

She swallowed hard and obeyed.

Her voice cracked as she whispered, "Help me" "Please Zeke."

Back at the Mansion

Zeke's grip tightened around his phone. Something was wrong.

"Alexia?" His voice turned sharp, urgent. "What's happening? Where are you?"

Only silence answered him. Then he heard a heavy breathing and a rustling sound of a car.

"Tyler," he barked, his voice deadly, "start the car. Track Alexia's location. Now."

Tyler didn't question him. He was already moving, sliding into the driver's seat and slamming his foot on the gas.

Zeke's mind raced. The air around him grew thick with something dangerous.

He wouldn't lose her. Not like this.

Inside the Car

Alexia's fingers trembled on the wheel. She forced herself to focus. She couldn't panic. Not now.

She met the man's eyes in the mirror, forcing out a steady voice. "Who are you?"

He smirked. "You don't need to know that. But I know you. You're Zeke's woman, aren't you?" He scoffed, shaking his head. "Didn't think that ice-cold bastard would ever fall for someone."

Alexia's stomach twisted.

So this was one of Zeke's enemies.

Her family had kept her protected, allowing her to live freely, away from dangers like this. But in just a few weeks of staying with Zeke, she was already caught in his world—a dark, terrifying world she didn't understand.

Her heart pounded as she thought of ways to escape, she didn't even know where they were headed to anymore, it was dark and scary and she's been driving on a straight road, fear gripped her as her hands on the steering wheel trembled and tears streamed down her cheeks.

"Oh God please save me" she muttered to herself.

"Alexia calm down, we're almost there" she heard Zeke's reassuring voice and for some reason, this melted and calmed her down, taking a deep breathe she focused on the road.

"I trust you" she muttered back to him, her words causing Zeke to grip his phone tighter, he was barely restraining himself and hearing her voice laced with fear made him almost go beserk.

"Zeke, Ramon is ahead of us and is tracking the car, but if they go further into the woods, we'll loose signal" Tyler explained, ever so serious as he accelerated his car, going way past the speed limit.

"We need more time to reach her" Alexia heard Tyler yell, she looked at where they were, it was a miracle they could still track her as she was sure they were deep in the woods.

She decided to help them, rather than playing a damsel in distress waiting to be rescued, she had promised herself she won't be a distraction to them.

"Where are you taking me?" she demanded.

The man pressed the gun harder against her temple. "Just drive. Unless you want me to take the wheel myself."

She exhaled shakily. Her mind spinning.

She slowed the car slightly, feigning nervousness. "You think Zeke will come for me?" Her voice wavered just enough to sound convincing. "He doesn't care about me. I'm the one forcing myself on him. He barely looks at me."

"Alexia what are you doing, don't try to irritate him" she heard Zeke scold her.

The man scoffed. "Lady, we don't care about that. You're living with him. That's enough." He nudged the gun again. "Now, step on it before I—"

Alexia didn't let him finish.

She slammed her foot on the accelerator, yanking the wheel to the side.

The car jerked violently. The impact sent her kidnapper slamming against the door.

Seizing her chance, she shoved the door open and ran.

Cold air slashed at her face. She didn't know where she was going—she just knew she had to escape.

A gust of wind rushed past her and the man appeared in front of her.

She skidded to a stop, her breath catching. How did he move so fast?

His eyes… were they glowing?

Before she could react, he lunged with extraordinary speed and force.

Pain exploded through her back as she was slammed against a tree.

His fingers wrapped around her throat, tightening, stealing the air from her lungs.

"You're trying to play the bad ass heroine, you should be thankful we still need you alive," he sneered. "Otherwise, you'd already be dead."

Alexia clawed at his hands, but he didn't budge. Her vision blurred. Black spots danced in her eyes.

Her last thought as everything dimmed "Zeke… I'm sorry".

--

Zeke's car screeched to a halt.

His eyes landed on the scene—Alexia, limp, her body pinned to a tree. The man's grip was choking her.

A roaring sound filled Zeke's ears.

Kill him.

"Zeke." Ramon's voice was firm. "Don't lose control."

But Zeke's hands were already clenching, his entire body thrumming with violent energy.

Ramon stepped closer. "You'll scare Alexia more than she already is."

That was the only thing that stopped him.

But it wasn't enough to calm him.

Zeke moved.

One second, the man was choking Alexia.

The next— Zeke slammed him into a tree. The force sent cracks on the tree. Blood splattered as Zeke struck again. And again.

Alexia collapsed, coughing, her throat burning.

Through blurry eyes, she saw Zeke—his entire body shaking, his knuckles bloodied.

"Zeke…" she whispered.

He turned, his breath ragged. His eyes softened the moment they met hers.

She smiled weakly.

Zeke flung the already bloodied man aside and rushed to her side, his hands gentle as he helped her stand.

The moment she was stable, she threw herself into his arms.

"I thought I wouldn't see you again," she choked out, gripping him tightly.

Zeke stiffened. Then, his arms wrapped around her.

His voice was low, pained, laced with guilt. "I'm sorry. I wasn't there to protect you."

His gaze flickered to her throat—bruises, blood. His jaw clenched. He will kill that man.

"Alexia, go with Ramon and Tyler," he ordered, barely keeping himself together. "I'll be right behind you."

Tyler stepped forward. "Miss, let's go."

But Alexia didn't move.

She clutched Zeke's wrist. "Come with us."

Zeke shut his eyes. His hands curled into tight fists

"Kiel…" Her voice trembled. "You're scaring me. Please… open your eyes."

"Go now, you don't want to see me like this, I told you, I'm a monster, I..I need to vent on someone to calm down, he needs to pay" Zeke said gritting his teeth, bloodlust evident in his tone and the air around him.

"No, you're not a monster, I'm tired, let's go home Kiel" she said, her tone lighter and pleading.

Silence, he didn't respond but instead was trying to break free from her grip. She held his hand tighter and stepped closer to him,

Then— Ignoring the raging bloodlust surrounding him, she cupped his face.

And kissed him.
