Chapter 16 - What she remembered

The 24th of July, 596 of the Imperial year.

Malia slept in rather than making breakfast as she had already promised. She felt too exhausted to move, and the fatigue she seemed to have the previous night was still present. She had a lot of adrenaline when she was performing, but now she's tired.

Malia made the choice to take an hour-long bath and unwind rather than cook. Malia asked for French toast bread and her creamy coffee instead of the usual breakfast dishes. As soon as Lily left, she shut the door, stripped off, set the bread and coffee aside, and jumped into her vanilla-scented bath.

She dried herself after spending some time there and decided on a blush pink ankle-length tulle prom dress. It was one of the presents her mother gave her. She received a total of 20 adorable outfits, all with wonderful designs! Additionally, she was given five incredibly expensive sets of necklaces, rings, and earrings. She could only express gratitude to her mother for the kind gifts. Her mother is all for her showing off at school.

Today is the day she will organize what she remembers from the novel and relate it to whatever she learns from the guidebook.

The school rules, according to her memory, are quite simple. Discrimination against commoners is prohibited; they are also scholars that are possibly supported by wealthy nobles. Their status wouldn't matter inside the academy, but she knows it would still matter and would create multiple fractions as well— especially noble mages, who receive treatment that is far superior to that of the other students. They will be provided with food except for weekends. They can leave at any time with a written permit or parental authorization.

The school system is quite unique as well.

Arithmetic, Philosophy and Economics, History and Magic, Basic/Early Literacy, and Science are among the subjects covered by first-year students. The same subjects would be taught at a higher level in the second year. After that, they can choose what field or courses they want to focus on in the next year. For example, they could study medicine for two years, graduate and then work as an intern in a hospital of their choice for another two years before they can get their license.

All in all, they can study medicine, business and trades, the Seven Liberal Arts for anyone interested in becoming a professor or educator, and architectural engineering. The last field was popular with scholar commoners and mages because they contribute to making products such as windmills, glasses, and mechanical clocks, greatly improved water mills, and building techniques, and even improved agriculture in general for three-field crop rotation. Talented mages are uncommon and would be sought out immediately to work for royals conducting magic research, the same for talented swordsmen who wish to be a knight.

The most appealing option for ordinary nobles is the business and trade field. Scholars supported by the nobles would also pursue this field because they are expected to help useless noble children take over their family businesses. They must study for two years and before receiving their license, they must complete a two-year internship in the industry in which they intend to work as well.

Malia's schedule is as follows:

8:00 – 9:00 - Basic/Early Literacy

9:00 – 10:00 – Arithmetic or Mathematics

10:00 – 10:30 – Break time

10:30 – 11:30 – Philosophy and Economics

11:30 – 1:00 – Lunch Break

1:00 – 2:00 – Science

2:00 – 3:00 - History and Magic

3:00 – 5:00 – Recreational time a.k.a FUN TIME

'During the "Fun time", we can join in dance classes, music classes, art classes focused mostly on painting and drawing, chess clubs, poetry groups, and classes in swordsmanship. AND... We are not required to participate in anything and are free to engage in any activity. For example, as long as I am inside the academy, I am permitted to paint without being in a class—meaning I can do anything I want ALONE! Wohoooo.' Malia did a little celebratory dance in her room.

Malia wrote in her old diary that she planned to register for swordsmanship training. Undoubtedly, it was to improve relations or get closer to Cedric. Since she is unable to fulfill OG Malia's wish, she could only apologize to her soul.

'I'm really sorry, swordsmanship is not for me; I only use my precious hands to play musical instruments. Additionally, I don't want to strengthen my bonds with Cedric or anything else connected to him. I'll definitely look for someone better hehe I promise!'

Malia then scanned and flipped to the section of the guidebook that showed a map of the academy. She was shocked to find so many structures on the map—20 structures total, of which 5 were dorms and 1 enormous dome served as a cafeteria. The author of the novel utilized Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia as an inspiration for the design of the buildings however she does not know what it would really appear like in reality. She just hopes she won't get lost.

While she tried to remember which buildings or sites she would need to be at when class started, she ultimately made the decision to just take a tour on Sunday to get a better understanding of the campus. They'll set out on Thursday, and it will take them two days to reach Sorav. They'll arrive either Friday night or early Saturday.

Malia was deep in thought when she heard a knock on the door. It was the Marquis.

"Lia, I'm going to submit the track and make copies of it. Why don't you accompany me?"

Malia remained silent as she deliberated. She'll just pass for the reason that she has other plans for the day, and she knows her dad will take care of everything nicely for her.

She opened the door to her father while wearing her mask.

"Actually, dad, I have something different planned for today... by something else, I mean, I'm going shopping Hehe."

Before traveling to Sorav, she was eager to shop and tour the metropolis of Erias. She also wants to have other products made that she will need while studying at the academy.

"However, you can give the coachman the location so I can go there when I finish my shopping. Can I do that?" Malia continued.

"Oh, I don't mind at all. Making copies would also take some time." The Marquis approved of her plans because he knew that she'd get bored anyway.

"Okay, thanks, dad! See you later!"

She once more shut the door when the Marquis departed and carried on scribbling the things she could still recall.

The novel itself was a cliché one. The brilliant and brave daughter of a lowly baron family, FL's name was Anastacia Ashmore. Very optimistic, or more accurately, she seems to be smiling constantly—a classic cheerful female protagonist. She became acquainted with the male protagonist while attending the academy. They both enrolled in swordsmanship classes, and the prince first detested the fact that she was smarter than he was but eventually loved her for her personality and moral character. The male lead, Daniel Vaughn Erias, has a fiancé named Thea de Clermont a.k.a the villainess in the story.

Thea used Kai, who was obsessed with her, to torture Anastacia. Thea's plans were exposed, and she was punished by being exiled while Kai received no punishment for some reason.

'Maybe because he's a prince and future King of Sorav? Well... I don't care'

Other characters included FL's best friend Andrea Acker, the loud, seductive knight whom Cedric Cromwell is after. My brother was meant to be a thorn in their relationship, but given that I'm still alive, I doubt he'll do anything.

Twin brothers Elliott and Everett Aster are the second and third male leads. Malia was unable to recall the reason why Kai detested the Aster twins, but it has something to do with Kai's childhood trauma.

Since the FL and ML were at the center of all the main story plots, she need not worry about accidentally altering anything significant plot or getting involved herself since the plots were designed to deepen the main character's love for one another.

She continued to ponder upon the contents of the novel before hearing Lily knock and delivered her lunch.

"Lily let's go shopping today! I have something to buy." Malia gushed in excitement, "I'll also treat you to something nice."

Lily said with a smile, "I'll always accompany you, my lady."

Malia nodded before swiftly finishing her meal. She can hardly wait to start shopping.

She only brushed her teeth and quickly applied pink lip gloss to match her dress before departing.
