Stopping to rest

The journey to the town of Pernith would be a long one as it would take at least a week to reach. After a couple of hours it became night but they wouldn't stop until they reached a village. Soon they reached a small village built near the base of a mountain.

''Alright we're gonna be stopping here for the night'' one of the merchants said.

One of the merchants walked up to the guards and pulled out several copper coins. After handing them the coins the guards moved out of the way and let them in.

Isaiah saw all of this and kept note.

The merchants gestured for Isaiah to follow and led him to a small 2 story building. The building read ''Inn''.

As they opened the doors they came up to the receptionist and asked for a room and something to eat.

''Here are the keys for room 7 upstairs''.

The men grabbed the keys walked down the hallway and took a seat waiting to be served.

After a while a girl who looked to be in her late teens walked out with 3 plates and set them on the table.

''Here you go!'' the girl said with an mesmerizing smile.

In the plates were Chicken stew with beans and it smelled amazing.

As everybody started eating they saw that Isaiah was still looking at the girl.

''Hey snap out of it kid'' the merchants said while laughing loudly.

It seemed that Isaiah thought the girl was a little cute.

As they were eating they saw the Inn doors burst open and a man in gold and crimson armor with a colossal sword walked in.

The man sat himself at one of the tables and waited.

Instantly everyone felt an intangible pressure descend upon them. It could be clearly seen that the man wasn't in a good mood.

One of the merchants next to Isaiah whispered ''be quiet''.

The same girl from earlier walked out with the mans meal but she could be seen shivering a little.

As she was coming over with his meal she tripped and spilled the food all over the man.

Suddenly time seemed to stop. The girl started apologizing profusely and nervously tried cleaning up the mess.

SHING!

All of a sudden the girl exploded into a red mist with blood splattering in all directions.

The man calmly put his sword back into its sheath. Hearing the commotion going on, the girl's mom in the kitchen called out her name.

''Harper''! the mom said several times. But sadly there was no answer nor will there ever be.

This entire situation made no sense as did the man really kill someone over a thing such as getting food spilled on you?

Harper's mom walked out the kitchen when she saw the floor and ceiling painted crimson.

She had a bad premonition but just shook it off as something preposterous.

''Did anyone see where Harper went''? she asked.

The entire Inn was so silent you could hear a pin drop.

Isaiah had the urge to vomit at what he had just seen.

Seeing the way everyone was acting and the smell of blood Harper's mom was starting to get a little nervous.

''H-Harper stop playing around now and come out''.

She walked up to Isaiah and the merchants and asked them ''Where did my daughter go''?

Isaiah felt sick to his stomach as he had no way to tell her what had just transpired.

The mom then looked at the man in armor and saw that there were broken plates at his feet. She then came to a horrifying realization that maybe just maybe the blood on the walls were her daughter.

The mother lost her mind and was about to start attacking the man in armor before she was knocked out by one of the merchants.

Seeing the man's power the merchant knew the lady would just pointlessly lose her life if she attacked the man.

The man was a powerful Warrior Disciple which instantly put him above commoners.

Isaiah and the rest put the women on her chair while they went upstairs to rest.

But after seeing that how could Isaiah sleep?

''Don't worry kid you'll quickly get used to scenes like that if you wish to become a mage''.
