Nick took Joan to his house and told her to wait for him and not go anywhere

"why are you so scared for her, ain't you in the same position as her? you're popular and if you can handle it, what makes you think she can't and isn't this good for her? she gets to be popular" his friend said

"opinions, their opinions can be harmful. for me I don't care what people say about me, I don't even see them but she will be bothered by their thoughts on her, popularity isn't for everyone, I don't want her to get depressed at some point. even I who don't care sometimes feels hurt by what others think of me. they stand afar and watch me and say things they want without listening to my side, there are a lot of people too who are just waiting for me to do something so they can say 'yes we told you so' she can't be herself because being herself might be Someone's most hated thing to do.
