Chapter 6: The Blood

Wei was silent and calm, leaning on the entrance of the apartment. Ying stood on the opposite side, looking out towards the rows of people, swirling a small tumbler in his hand. However, when both men heard footsteps, they turned, seeing Jingfei dashing at them in full speed. No, not at them.

He was running to the people.

Wei was quick to step in, grabbing Jingfei quickly by the waist and pulling him in tightly. He held Jingfei as tight as he could, whilst Ying sprinted over. They knew this would happen if they left Jingfei alone. They just wanted to make sure. To test it. See if he would be able to control it. But, Wei knew he wouldn't. No vampling could. Wei barely could.

Wei gripped in tighter, feeling Jingfei try to twist out of his grip. The vampire was using all his strength, all his power against Wei, yet Wei wasn't. He didn't want to hurt Jingfei. "Enough.." Wei muttered into Jingfei's ear. The vampling still tried to wiggle out of his grip, but the power was less, barely, but still less.

Ying covered both his nose and eyes, tipping the steel tumbler at the thin line between his pink lips. It took a second, a second longer than Wei wanted, but soon Jingfei relaxed in the other's grip, his pale hand reaching up to hold onto the tumbler. Wei still held him, however, making sure the vampling didn't escape.

Ying hesitantly let go, allowing Jingfei to hold the drink. "You okay now?" Ying asked, crossing his arms. Wei let go, still ready in case Jingfei had any other plans. He trusted Jingfei, but he needed to be safe. Jingfei was silent, lowering the tumbler from his lips. He wiped the smear of blood from his thumb. "Uh, yeah… I think I am.." Jingfei whispered. He didn't look up at Ying nor Wei, instead, looking down towards the ground.

"Was I about to kill someone?" Jingfei asked softly. Wei sighed, crossing his arms. Guilt. No need to feel it. "Yes, you were-" "But you didn't." Ying said quickly, glancing at Wei before back at Jingfei. "You didn't, which is a good thing. We stopped you before you did." Jingfei combed his free hand through his hair.

"Scary, wasn't it? Not being in control of your body. That's why you need to be careful. If you even feel the hint of thirst, you need to call one of us." Wei sighed, reaching down to grab the tumbler. Jingfei's hand was tight, not allowing Wei to grab it. "Jingfei, it's empty. There is some more upstairs." Wei said. Jingfei still didn't let go of the cup for a moment, before finally doing so, allowing Wei to take it.

"I need to go to work," Jingfei whispered, turning to look at Wei. If Jingfei couldn't survive being alone in an apartment, there was no way he would survive in a workplace. Ying shook his head. "No way, you can't. Not for a couple of days. Not until I teach you everything." Ying explains, grabbing Jingfei's hand. Jingfei still seemed hesitant. "I need to call out for work. When can I go home? No offense, but I don't like sleeping on couches." Jingfei shrugs.

Wei glances outside towards the sidewalk and street. Well, if Jingfei didn't want to stay in the small apartment, We knew another place they could go. "You wanna meet some of our friends?"

Jingfei didn't know where Wei and Ying were taking him. But at this point, he knew two things. One, he was now a vampire. And two, he needed to listen to Wei and Ying. Jingfei stepped out of the car, looking at the house. It was in a neighborhood with very nice and big houses. However the one Ying had parked in front of was the most peculiar.

The house was a modern version of a vampire mansion. With blacks, grays, and whites everywhere. However, it was modern, with stained glass windows, stones, and even a willow tree. Ying leaned on Jingfei's shoulder slightly. "Nice right? I helped Wei pick it out. He said it was too geometric for his taste, but he likes it." Wei scoffed, not stopping the two younger vampires. There was a car parked outside, but Jingfei didn't know who it was.

Until the door opened.

Two sounds were heard instantly as the door was opened. Yelling, and cheering. That was it. Jingfei hesitantly walked inside, seeing two men. Both sat on the ground, Nintendo Switch controllers in their hands. One had dark brown hair and pale skin. He had a large Pikachu hoodie on, the ears sticking up oddly.

His face is what got Jingfei's attention, however. He was handsome, to say the least. His hair barely peeked from under the yellow hoodie, his eyes a deep shade of ruby. His features were sharp and smooth, with a big grin on his face, his fangs visible. He was a vampire, that was obvious. But he was smooth with that fact, his face sharp and eyes devilish. He held himself well. He seemed to know himself well.

But the other boy. Young and childlike. He had to be Jingfei's age, if not a little younger. His hair was dyed white, sweeping over his bright blue eyes. His face was rosy and sweet. The exact opposite of the vampires. He had on a Charmander hoodie, which was also a little baggie on him. His skin was pale, but a soft red color. He looked like a child, sweet and caring. His lips, tip of his nose, and cheeks were all a light pink. The roots of his hair were brown. He seemed like he could be a Chinese Idol. All the vampires he met did.

He looked up at the three men who walked in, including Jingfei. "No! Wei! Tell Chan to stop! He's cheating!" The boy whined. Wei only glanced down before continuing to walk. Ying grabbed Jingfei's hand, pulling him with Wei.

"Ignore them. They both act like they are twelve." Wei says simply, walking into what appeared to be the kitchen. Just like the apartment, each window had black-out curtains, but they were swung open. Jingfei silently nodded, the door swinging shut behind him. "Are you hungry?" Ying asked, looking up from the fridge. Jingfei shook his head.

Ying looked at him suspiciously for a moment before he nodded. "Fine, I'm still going-" The vampire, supposedly Chan, quickly ran in. He scanned the room before his eyes landed on Jingfei. "Who are you? You're a vampire, right? Are you a baby? Oh my blood, you're a baby aren't you?!" The man went on to hug Jingfei tightly, lifting him into the air. The other boy stepped in, facepalming. "Um…"

"Chan put him down." Ying sighed, crossing his arms. Chan did, setting him lightly on his feet. "You are such a cute baby." He held Jingfei's chin, tilting it. "I see you are growing into your vamp features well. When were you turned in, last week? The week before?" "Um… yesterday.." Chan gasped, but before he could touch him anymore, Ying grabbed his arm. "He's mine, don't touch him," Ying muttered.

Chan only gasped again. "Wait, so you and Wei are taking care of him? Whatever happened to our plan?" Chan asked, suddenly his voice becoming sad. Jingfei was so confused. He wondered if Chan had a personality disorder, or if he was just very... very something. "You can't even take care of yourself." The man said, rolling his eyes. As the boy talked, Jingfei realized something.

It smelled like cinnamon rolls. Not the room, the boy did. Like freshly made cinnamon rolls. ERight out the oven. How could he smell like that? Did he come from a bakery? The smell of sweet and thickening icing, melting down the sides of the cinnamon roll. Jingfei stared at the boy confused. Before, quickly, confusion turned to worry.

"You're a human?"
