Chapter 13: The World

Ying stared at the man in front of him. He didn't know if he should applaud Jingfei, or himself. Jingfei looked up at him with a soft frown. "Is something wrong? I like the clothes. It's similar to the stuff I have at home, just more fancy." Jingfei shrugged. Ying ws only silent however, seemingly not being able to form words.

Jingfei awkwardly held his hands behind his back, looking at Ying. His eyes were a dark red, with pale white skin. His jaw was sharper, and his hair silky from the shower. It was a light brown, tipping over to the side, covering more of his forehead. His red lips were smooth, and his jaw was sharp. His hair was long, yet somehow it seemed short and cut to perfection, no strands out of place. His white lace shirt was tucked nicely into his white trousers, with a light blue blazer and a light blue choker. Jingfei rolled on his toes, combing a hand through his hair.

"You look hot." Ying informed casually, as Jingfei took a sip of his water bottle. His eyes widen, the vampling quickly lowering his cup. He looked to the ground, nodding quickly. "Oh- uh… thanks." Jingfei mumbled, his face turning a light red. Ying stared at him for a moment, not saying anything. For being so dead, it was incredible how lovely a vampire can look. Even Chan doesn't look that alive.

"Well, come on. I have some other stuff I want you to look at."

Jingfei and Ying stepped out of the store, bags in hand. At first, Jingfei thought that Ying was only going to buy him the shirt. But, Ying practically bought everything in the isle. Jingfei told him multiple times that he didn't need to do that, but it seemed when Ying said he wanted to spend all of his money on Jingfei, he meant it. "I wanted to walk, but I regret not using my car." Ying muttered, looking around. Jingfei nodded, adjusting his grip on the paper bags.

Ying cheered seemingly out of nowhere, but he quickly found the cause. He looked at the store happily. It was a children's store. Specifically a children's toy store. Ying walked down the street towards it, Jingfei quickly following. "You have a child?" Jingfei asked. Ying glanced at Jingfei for a second before nodding. "You could say that." Ying answered. The store wasn't that far, only a block down. When Jingfei and Ying reached the store, Ying turned around to look at him, just as the streetlamps flickered on. Not like Jingfei needed it.

"Will you be okay? I just want to get something out here really quickly. It won't take long, but if you think that you won't be okay, I'll-" Jingfei lightly shook his head. "I'll be fine." It isn't as crowded on the street as it is inside the store. Jingfei should be okay being by himself. Maybe that's what he needs. Ying looked at him hesitantly for a moment, before nodding. Ying placed his bags next to Jingfei, keeping his black one, before walking into the store. Jingfei sighed, looking down at the ground.

It was stone bricks, something most of Hong Kong had. He lifted his foot slightly to rub against the red colored stone. It was pretty. Jingfei liked the color. Jingfei kept the bags close, not wanting anyone to steal it. He tapped his fingers on the bag, looking around. There weren't too many people out tonight, probably because it was a weekday. But still, Granville Road was a popular attraction. Jingfei sipped on his blood, mostly as something to do. It was starting to get easier, Ying was right about that. Chan and Wei were too. He had been a vampire for almost a week, and things have definitely been getting better.

It was still weird for him. To look at people and see food. To drink blood, to have cravings. That was all so new to him. Jingfei sucked lightly on his fangs. He still hadn't gotten used to the feeling of having fangs either. But that was just something that he'll have to get used to.  Hearing that was aggravating. But even he was saying that. It was true, wasn't it. He would have to get used to all these things. Some he has already. Like the thought of drinking blood so casually. But others, he couldn't stomach.

Like the thought of biting someone's neck.

A young man walked by Jingfei, his head tilted to the ground, and his hair covering most of his face. He had one small bag in his hand, and he walked quickly. However, he also walked very close to Jingfei. Close enough for Jingfei to smell him. Smell the sweetness of his blood, mixed with the small irony and grassy taste. Close enough for Jingfei to hear the rhythmic sounds of his heart and blood flowing through his human veins.

But Jingfei didn't.

Jingfei didn't know what to do, but the man stopped, just a few paces ahead of Jingfei. He looked up at him, deep red eyes meeting crimson ones. Jingfei was silent, looking up at the man. He smiled at Jingfei, his teeth razor sharp. He was a vampire, Jingfei noticed. Was that why Jingfei couldn't smell him?

The man didn't walk up to Jingfei, he just continued to stare at him. Did he want Jingfei to say something? He felt someone hold Jingfei's wrist tightly. They tugged on him, pulling him the opposite way. Jingfei pulled back, turning around to find it was just Ying. He had a grim look on his face, a small bag in his hands. He didn't stare at Jingfei, instead he stared at the man. "Let's go." Ying said quickly, picking up the other bags.

Jingfei glanced back, but the man was gone.
