Chapter 23: The Healed

Bambang crossed his arms, yanking his hand away from Bambang. "I am just trying to sleep. Is that such a problem?" Bambang muttered, rubbing his arm. Chan only glanced at him. "You know, your view on vampires is racist." Chan said, smiling and continuing to walk. Bambang didn't know where they were going, but Chan's simple words of 'the bar' didn't make Bambang feel any better.

"It's not racist. You are not human, your….. Something else." Bambang pointed out, his breath becoming cloudy every time he spoke, a cause of the freezing air around him. Chan's breath didn't. "I am a vampire, is that too hard to understand?" Chan asked, his voice somewhat exasperated. Bambang was silent, combing a hand through his hair. He sighed. "No, I do understand. You guys are different, you guys don't kill humans, right? You just… what, bite them and let them bleed out?" Bambang asked, his voice hostile.

Chan sighed, shaking his head. "No, we don't. Our bites aren't a stab wound, they are small, like needles. And our saliva has healing agents." Chan informed, his hands going down to behind his back. Bambang took a second, before shaking his head. "How…. are there vampire doctors and scientists now?" Bambang asked sarcastically. Chan shrugged. "Wei's a nurse." Chan pointed out.

Bambang was quiet, looking down at his feet. He didn't know what to say. Bambang had always known that vampires were dangerous. Everytime he went near one, another vampire hunter had told him about the terrible things vampires have done. He didn think all vampires were the exact same, but their mindset should be. They were way higher and better than humans could ever be. It was Bambang's job to lower the vampire's egos.

Then again, Bambang has never met a vampire so relaxed, so.. Reasonable. Bambang has never met a vampire group that allowed people to be in the group with them. Even council members weren't like that. At the most, they thought they were decently better than humans. Most vampires just thought they had more power than humans. It was only until the council called a hit on them that the vampire would understand who was really in charge.

"Whatever." Bambang muttered. Chan smiled, humming while nodding his head. "You seem a little mad." Chan pointed out calmly. Bambang looked up, seeing Chan's amused face. Bambang turned away. "I'm not mad, I just don't like dealing with you." Bambang muttered. Chan pulled up one eyebrow, however he didn't say anything. He looked over, specifically at a small bar. It wasn't anything special, it wasn't anything Bambang had ever heard of. He sighed, shaking his head and yawning.

It seemed run down, with a red glowing side that said Rose Creek. It looked more like a strip club than a bar. That was where Bambang would normally see vampires. Sitting in the corner as women on stages undress. There were certain places vampires would hide, but Rose Creek wasn't one of those places. At least it wasn't one that was important. Chan turns to look at Bambang, his eyes serious. "If people find out that you are a hunter, you're dead, alright? You against one vampire is easy, You against a hundred, you'll be dead before you know it." Chan said.

Bambang was silent, staring into Chan's crimson eyes. He had a necklace hanging lightly from his neck. It was a beautifully red color, glistening in the street light. Bambang didn't know exactly what it was, but most vampires didn't have those. But he knew if a vampire was a part of a clan, they tended to have those necklaces. Maybe it showed what clan they were in, maybe it showed that they shouldn't be killed. Jingfei had a necklace like that, Bambang saw it on his neck before. Bambang twisted his silver band on his finger.

"What does that necklace do?" Bambang asked out of nowhere, as Chan gave him a weird look. His pale hand went up to his neck, where he held the dark red crystal. He had a moment of realization, before sighing. "It's to protect me from the sun." Chan explains, while sighing. Bambang slowly nodded. "Why did you ask that?" Bambang didn't say anything, his mouth going thin. "I just wondered. Let's go." Bambang said, beginning to walk towards the bar. Chan grabbed his arm. "No, promise me that you won't say anything. I don't want you dead." Chan demanded, his voice lowering. He was definitely scarier than Bambang had originally thought.

Bambang was silent, trying to tug Chan's hand away from him, but he didn't. Bambang looked away from Chan, but Chan didn't. It felt like there was no one on the street, nowhere in the world. It was just them two. The world has been headed to the bare, leaving nowhere for Bambang to hide. He sucked in a breath. "I don't promise people-"

"I'm not a person to you. I am an evil, man-eating monster, so promise me you won't do anything to hurt yourself."

What was Bambang supposed to say? He didn't want to say yes to Chan. He didn't want to give in to whatever Chan was planning. He didn't want to say anything to Chan. He just wanted the other to get away. Bambang kills vampires on a daily basis. He understands that Chan shouldn't be scared, but why go near a vampire hunter? Why even risk that?

But Chan's look, either desperation or simply demanding, Bambang didn't know. Yet he was still silent, not giving in. For a moment. He didn't give in for a moment. Bambang sighed, pinching his nose. He took a moment, before nodding. "Fine, I won't say anything." Bambang muttered, as Chan slowly let go of Bambang's hand. Bambang did the rest of the work, yanking away his hand. "Thank you." Chan said, placing his hands in his pockets." Bambang only glared at him, before walking up to the door.

"Yeah."
