Jingfei and Chan walked to the other side of the street where a small alley was, sitting down in the shadows. Chan leaned on the brick wall, crossing his arms and looking towards the club. "Ugh, this is going to take forever." Chan whined, leaning his head on the hard brick. Jingfei paid him very little attention. "Does Ying hunt slowly?" Jingfei asked, looking over at the vampire. Chan shakes his head. "No, he doesn't. He's quicker than me, actually. I'm just bored." Chan groaned, turning around to face Jingfei. "You seem to not be bored,"Chan pointed out, scanning Jingfei's body. The vampling rolled his eyes.
"I just don't want to see a dead body." Jingfei muttered. Chan scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Not dead. If the human was dead, then we would be dead. And, didn't Wei say that you and Yang saw ei pull out a half dead person?" Chan questioned. Jingfei stood up straight, looking over at Chan with worried eyes. "He was HALF DEAD?! I thought he was fine!" Jingfei yelled, in both shock and horror.
The man was almost dead. Wei almost killed someone. He couldn't have been almost dead. He ran off and talked like he was just fine. Not dead, nowhere near dead. He couldn't have been. Wei wouldn't have lied to him, right? He would have said if he was almost dead. They could have taken him to the hospital. Jingfei's pulse seemed to double within minutes, worry suffused into his head.
Chan sighed, pinching his nose. "Not like… almost dead. But like... not as alive.." Chan explained in the most worrisome way possible. Jingfei continued to stare at Chan, horrified by his words. He began pacing, simply in the small circle. Only one thing came to his mind. He's dead. The man was dead. He's dead no. There is no way an almost dead person could survive if he didn't go to the hospital.
"Enough."
Chan's voice wasn't bored or annoyed, nor were they worried or saddened. Instead, it was a word that made Jingfei stop in his step, his worries on the hunter's health deteriorating into nothingness. His eyes went back up to Chan, concentrated on the elder. "He's not dead. He was just a little hurt. I wasn't there, so I don't know for sure. But you can ask Wei when we get back."
Chan's voice was sarcastic or goofy like it was previously. It was still his usual voice, but instead more caring. Jingfei stared at him for a second before sighing. He lowered his head, combing a hand out of his face. He hesitantly chuckled. "Yeah, you're right. Wei wouldn't kill someone." Jingfei sighed a breath of relief, leaning off the wall.
The doors to the club swung open, to reveal Ying. His eyes are dark red, darker than before. As if blood was mixed into his iris. However, as the spring breeze floated down the street, his hair waved, covering his eyes. The only thing Jingfei could see was his dark smile. It was obvious he knew what he was doing. Even when he stood there, his moves weren't erratic. He knew exactly where he wanted to go.
A girl walked with him, holding his hand. She didn't stumble as the two walked out, nor did she lean on him in any way. She wasn't drunk, and must have been very aware as she scanned the street. Yet, sadly, not as aware as Ying was. He kept a hand in his pocket as he stepped onto the street. The girl was hesitant for a moment, not stepping with him. Ying turned around, looking up at the girl on the sidewalk.
"Don't be scared, I'm with you."
His voice. His voice caught Jingfei off guard. It made the vampling freeze, and stare at Ying. Wanting to watch him, watch him talk forever. Ying's voice was firm and low. Dark and ethereal. It was almost soothing to the ears, the sound waves floating directly to Jingfei. He couldn't see Ying's smile, he couldn't see Ying's smirk or his dark red eyes. All he could see was the girl's affirmative nod. Finally, as Chan tugged on Jingfei, he finally moved.
The two moved quickly, hiding behind a garbage can. They both peeked their heads out however, waiting for Ying to walk over. And he did, still holding the girl's hand. Her heel and his shoes echoed throughout the alley. Ying was quick, pushing the girl against the wall. It wasn't rough, but the intentions were clear. At first, Jingfei thought the two would make out, but instead he stared at her. "Your eyes are beautiful." He whispered softly in his darkening voice. She stared at him for a second, not saying anything. He couldn't tell if she was swooning for him or not, but Jingfei would be.
"Uh- thank you.."She mumbled, looking up at her. She was shorter, her head tilting up to look at Ying. He already had more of a menacing look on his face. But height just made it worse. Or better, for her. She placed her hands on his shoulders, allowing them to dangle behind him. Ying placed his hands on the girl's waist. He leaned in, as if to kiss her, only to just whisper into her ear. Jingfei couldn't see his face, but he could hear exactly what he said.
"This will only hurt for a moment."
His next movements were both precise and sharp, grabbing both of her hands from his shoulders to cross them on the wrist and hold them over her head, using one hand to keep the grip. At first the girl wasn't worried. He lifted his finger to trace her jaw, slowly and carefully until he got to her chin, tilting it up so she could look at him. He lowered his head into her neck.
Jingfei watched the girl carefully. Watched her facial expressions. She didn't have much of a reaction at first, simply leaning her head back and keeping it tilted up. But soon, she groaned softly, her eyes fluttering shut. Jingfei couldn't tell if she was in pain, or if she was receiving pleasure from the situation, but soon enough, her body felt limp in Ying's hold. Jingfei almost sprang up from his seat, before Chan pulled him down.
She was dead. Her eyes were closed and her body was completely limp. Ying slowly moved his head away from her neck, carefully laying her on the alleyway ground. He sighed, combing a hand through his hair. He stared at the wall, and Jingfei quietly watched him. Was he okay? "I can hear both of you breathing." Ying said calmly, his voice going back to normal.
Jingfei slowly stood from behind the trash can, stepping out. "Uh.. sorry." Jingfei apologized. Chan, however, rolled his eyes. "What did you want us to do, stop breathing?" Chan asked sarcastically, crossing his arm. Jingfei's eyes went down to the girl's body. Two fingers went to her neck, feeling a slight thump of a pulse. Jingfei sighed a heavy breath of relief. Ying looked over at Jingfei, frowning. "Did you think she was dead?" Ying asked, his voice somewhat hurt.
Jingfei lightly shook his head. "No… I just.. Was worried." Jing mumbled. There were two small dots on her neck where Ying must have bit her. But it seemed to be healing quickly. It was almost magical. "You seemed so different.." Jingfei said, looking back at Ying. His eyes weren't bright, nor were they as full as before. He had a smile on his face, and he didn't seem menacing. He seemed nice and approachable once again. Chan snorted. "That's the thing we were trying to get you to understand." Chan pointed out.
Jingfei didn't look at Chan, instead continuing to look at Ying. "That was it? You looked so scary though." Ying softly laughed. "Think about it this way. A peacock is pretty normally, but it's specifically beautiful with it's wings extended. But, a peacock only does that when it wants to seem intimidating against another animal in a fight. It's just like that."
Jingfei thought for a moment. It made sense, Jingfei wouldn't say otherwise. It seemed that way. Does that mean that Jingfei would also be like that? Would Jingfei look that menacing? Honestly speaking, Ying didn't only seem menacing. He also looked hot, but Jingfei wouldn't say that. It was honestly incredible. How Ying could turn from that to something completely different in a second.
"Now," Ying started, adjusting his jacket and looking back at Jingfei, who looked back at him. He had an excited look on his face. Jingfei was excited, but also worried. He knew Chan and Ying would both be there in case something did go wrong. But he needed to believe in himself, or something would go wrong. He waited for Ying's next words.
"It's your turn."
