Chapter 39: The Heat

Bambang relaxed on his couch, his legs sitting on the back piece of the loveseat, while his head dangled off the seat. Was this the correct way to sit on the seat, god no. Bambang knew he would get yelled at by every parent in all of China if he did this, but he was an adult. So luckily, he didn't have to listen to those parents. Not anymore.

Bambang tried to forget about last night's activities by watching Slovenly Boy's Adventure. However, that didn't work as much as Bambang had thought before. He agitatedly glared at the young boy with a striped shirt, watching his run away from a mob of…. Somethings. Bambang wasn't really paying attention.

His brain went back to when Chan held him by the waist, whispering soft words into his ear. Shivers went down Bambang's spine, and for a short moment he squealed, before groaning and falling to the floor. He lifted and lowered his legs like a crying baby, keeping his face covered. As he fell, the door slightly opened. Bambang quickly stopped, lifting his head over the couch.

He saw both Ying and Chan walk into the apartment, Jingfei's key in their hand. Why would they have Jingfei's key? What did they do to Jingfei? They looked at him weirdly. Well, Ying did. "Were you…. Crying?" Ying asked, shutting the door behind himself. Bambang glances quickly at Chan for a swift moment, before looking back up at Ying. He quickly stands, brushing off his clothes, before shaking his head.

"No." Bambang said quickly. Chan starts snickering, tossing the different keys onto the counter. Ying took a minute, glancing between Bambang and Chan, before rolling his eyes. Bambang looked over at Ying, and noticed the slightly dull look. "So, how did the training go?" Bambang asked, laughing. Ying looked over at Chan, before his dark red eyes went to Bambang. "A young boy died." Chan answered, rubbing his forehead.

Bambang's eyes widened, him standing up sharply. He stared at Chan with worried eyes. Jingfei couldn't have killed someone. That would mean he was a casse. He would be hunted. He might have been killed already. He might be dead, on the street, just like Yang had said. Tears flushed his vision as he rushed to Chan, punching him in the jaw.

His head swung to the side, giving Bambang enough time to push him back. "Tell me you didn't let him go. TELL ME-" Ying grabbed his arm before Bambang could do any damage. His grip wasn't tight, instead both delicate and loose. "He's lying. Jingfei is fine. He's with some human friends of his." Ying said calmly, as Bambang yanked his hand away. He glared at the lying vampire who held his jaw slightly. He wasn't bleeding, instead holding it more for dramatic affect.

"I didn't know you liked Jingfei that much. If you did then I wouldn't have said that." Chan muttered and Bambang angrily wiped the tears out of his eyes. He didn't say anything to the two, instead huffing and walking back to the couch. He crossed his legs, grabbing the cover that laid on the other end and continued watching Slovenly Boy's Adventure, as if the two vampires weren't even there.

He watched as the green rats chased the young boy into the forest, his heart's pace slowing exponentially as he watched the old cartoon. However, even then, he needed to check on Jingfei himself. He needed to make sure he was okay. Just a simple call will do. Ying sat down beside him. The young vampire didn't say a thing, instead, watched the show with him. He shouldn't be mad at Ying, he didn't lie to him.

He understood that Chan was simply joking. But he still shouldn't joke about that. Not with Jingfei. Even if Bambang was being too sensitive and a baby. Bambang took a second, before raising his head a poking Ying with his pinky, making sure to not touch the vampire with his silver rings. Ying looked over, his tan hair shaking slightly as he looked at Bambang. "Yes?" He asked kindly. Bambang hesitated for a slight moment. "My phone…" Bambang said.

He had never really talked to Ying that much. He had talked to Yang and Chan, but never to Ying. He seemed serious. Similarly to Wei. Jingfei had told him Ying and Wei were both nice, but he couldn't really see it. No vampire would be nice. Besides Jingfei. But Jingfei was a different story. He was a defect.

Ying turned around to his side, before handing Bambang his phone. Bambang took it, nodding slightly at Ying before quickly going to his phone. He quickly dialed Jingfei's number. It rang for a moment, before the vampling picked up. "Hello?" Jingfei's voice rang through his phone, allowing Bambang to finally sigh a breath of relief. "What are you doing right now?" Bambang asked. Jingfei hummed on the other end, before his voice rang through again.

"It's a funny story.." Jingfei said, before laughing softly. Bambang became worried again. He sighed. "A funny story, why is it funny?" Jingfei stopped laughing. "Well, while I was hunting…. I found someone, and it wasn't until I was right about to bite them that I found out it was someone I knew. And now we are watching Slovenly Boy's Adventure."

Bambang took a moment to process what Jingfei had said, before concerningly sighed. "First of, that boy should die with the rats, and second; who was it?" Jingfei went quiet for a moment, before the sound of awkward chuckles came in. His friend was an idiot. "Kai.." Jingfei answered. Bambang sighed disappointedly and face palmed. He worked years with that guy, and he couldn't even recognise him.

"You are…. Nevermind. At least you're safe." Bambang muttered. Jingfei laughed loudly, Bambang rolling his eyes. Jingfei was definitely something. "Yes, mom. I'm safe. I don't think I'll be home tonight though. Me and Kai are having a super sleepover." Jingfei explained, as someone else's voice came in. "No. We are not having a super sleepover." Kai huffed. That even made Bambang laugh. He felt a little better knowing Jingfei was okay. "Whatever, it's fine. Just text me if something changes." Bambang said. "I will!"

Bambang hung up after that, standing up. He placed the remote beside Ying. "You can change the channel, I'm going to bed." Bambang sighed, before heading into his room. He stepped inside, his eyes going to the mess that Chan had made a couple of days ago. He didn't have much time to clean it, but it started to annoy him. Bambang sighed, flopping on his bed. He laid his head on his pillow, looking over at the window blocked by dark blue curtains, similar to his hair. He should change it, the coloring beginning to fade.

There was a soft knock on the door, before he heard the creaking of the metal hinges as someone walked in. Bambang didn't turn his head, instead continuing to look at the dark curtains. He had a feeling he knew who it was. The vampire didn't say anything, so Bambang did. "Don't say it. It's annoying when I hear people say that." Bambang sighed.

Chan sighed. "Still, I'm sorry."

Bambang sighed dramatically, lifting himself up from a lying position to turn and look at Chan, who had a sad look on his face. He looked like a guilty puppy, just not as cute as Jingfei. Bambang rolls his eyes. "Okay, so? You're sorry, good for you." Bambang muttered, before lying down. Chan goes to his knees to bow fully to Bambang. He froze, not expecting the respect that Chan had suddenly given him. "I'm truly sorry. I should not have joked about that and made you mad. I want to continue being friends with you."

Bambang stared at him for a moment before grabbing a pillow. He slammed the pillow onto Chan's head, yet when he lifted it Chan looked up. "Does that mean I forgive you?" Chan asked with a hopeful expression. Bambang looked at him weirdly. However, before he could answer, Chan cheered, standing up and tackling Bambang with a hug. He looked weirdly at Chan. "Can you get off of me-"

"Can we do it tonight again. Please!" Chan asked, poking Bambang's stomach. Bambang pushed the vampire off him, huffing a sitting up. "No. Ying's here and Jingfei going to be back in a little bit."Bambang lied, but Chan gave him an annoyed look. "Ying's gone now, and vampires have good hearing." Chan said, sitting up straight. Bambang stared at him for a second before groaning.

"Ugh fine."
