Chapter 45: The Dead

Jingfei reaches into the oven to grab the cooked dino nuggets, using a towel to protect himself from the heat. Kai watched him as he took out the nuggets, placing the pan onto the stove top. "You know," Chan started. "You don't need to use a towel. You can just grab the pan." Jingfei turned around to stare at Chan with an annoyed look. He didn't know if Chan was joking or not, but he wasn't going to try such a risky claim. He already got burned this morning.

Kai reaches over, grabbing a t-rex shaped nugget, taking a bite of the crispy chicken. He hummed, nodding towards Jingfei. The vampling took it as a success and smiled. Bambang turned around, sitting opposite of the tv. "Did you two seriously come over just to each chicken nuggets?" Bambang asked, both in shock and annoyance.

Jingfei wouldn't lie, that was the reason they came over. But this wasn't just Bambang's house. Jingfei paid half of the rent. Besides, the two were hungry. And when they were hungry, he ment Kai was. Jingfei couldn't eat chicken nuggets anymore. Sadly. "What?! No! We came over to play video games in my room. And eat chicken nuggets." Jingfei laughed as Kai's face palmed, going to eat another chicken nugget. Chan stands up, grabbing a nugget. "Can I have one?" Chan asked hopefully.

Jingfei tilts his head in confusion. Can Chan eat human food? "Won't you get sick if you eat that?" Jingfei asked, staring hesitantly at Chan. The elder shrugged before plopping the nugget into his mouth. He shrugged, swallowing the food. "Eh, I like chicken dumplings better." Chan shrugged, going back towards the couch where Bambang was seated.

Bambang lifted Chan's phone, the screen turned on to show a message. "From Wei." Bambang said, before turning the phone around so he could read it. "Something about a vampire dead." Bambang said. Chan's expression turned from jokey to serious, Bambang giving him the phone. He read the message silently, everyone in the room staring at him for some sort of answer. He clicked his tongue, just like Wei, before sliding his phone into his back pocket.

"Sadly it's time for me to go. I have stupid business to take care of." He goes to walk to the door, before stopping and turning to Bambang. He stares at him for a moment, before crossing his arms. "You're a hunter, right? Work for the council?" Chan asks. Bambang stared at him with a confused expression before nodding unsure of what Chan's thoughts were.

"But before that you were a normal hunter? You know the process of getting a hit job and turning in the papers to get money." Jingfei didn't exactly know what Chan was talking about, but he assumed Bambang knew, since the hunter nodded his head once again to Chan's questions. "Then come with me. You might be help." Chan said, before opening the door and stepping out, the bright sunlight came through the door. Bambang slowly stood, looking over at Jingfei and Kai. "You know what's happening?" Bambang asked, walking to the kitchen. Jingfei lightly shook his head.

"No, but it maybe has to do with the fact that Chan's an elder.." Jingfei hypothesized as Bambang reached for a shawl. It was warm today, but it was probably to cover up his pajamas. Bambang sighed and nodded, grabbing his satchel. He looked over at Jingfei, before pointing a finger at him. "This might be dangerous. Do not follow us." Bambagns ays strictly.

Jingfei looked at him for a moment before rolling his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. I get it. But seriously, Bambang. I'm not a child." Jingfei points out casually, leaning on the stovetops, accidentally placing his hands on the burning hot pan. He squeaked, snatching his hands off quickly. Kai rolled his eyes as Bambang sighed, walking out of the door.

"Yeah, i was right to not leave you alone last night." Kai grumbled, looking down at Jingfei's hands. Jingfei huffed, glaring at Kai. "Do you have to bring that up again?" He grumbled. Kai only snorted, tapping Jingfei's hand with the slash from Bambang's knife. "Is it healing now?" Kai asked curiously. Jingfei shrugged, beginning to unwrap the bandage. It had stopped hurting which was a good sign.

As Jingfei unraveled the bandage he found a darkened scar on his hand. It seemed fully healed in a matter of hours, only a slim line as remembrance of the slash. Kai looked over, a soft "wow." coming from him. Jingfei hummed. "That's what Wei was talking about when he said I needed to heal." Jingfei said casually. Kai glanced at Jingfei, nodding.

"So.. '' Kai said, stepping away from Jingfei. He grabbed another chicken nugget, biting the head of the Stegosaurus right off. Jingfei stared at Kai with a disgusted look. "Murderer.." He muttered, walking away from Kai, who rolled his eyes. "What ever." Kai huffed. Jingfei curiously looked over to where Bambang and Chan once sat. "So, what should we do now?" Jingfei questions casually.

Kai looked over at the window. "You wanna follow them?" Kai asked, his eyes going to Jingfei. "W-what? No! They'll get mad!" Jingfei pointed out. Kai rolled his eyes, shaking his head. "Not if they don't catch us. And Bambang was basically asking us to." Kai points out casually. He already started sliding on his shoes, placing his hood over his head. He turned to look over at Jingfei, who was still very hesitant. He didn't need his friends being mad at him. And he didn't want Kai to get in trouble.

Kai sighed, walking over and grabbing Jingfei's hand. "Let's go." Kai said calmly, walking to the door. He stopped so Jingfei could slide his own shoes on, before shutting the door behind him.
