Chapter 46: The Dead

Jingfei and Kai didn't know exactly where the two were going, nor did they know where the two had gone. "There's only two ways," Kai explains, looking left, before right. "It's a gamble, sure. But it also might be right. So?" Kai says, turning to look back at Jingfei. He knew where they might be going, Wei's house. However,it might be another place. Jingfei looked left, then right himself, before deciding. "Left."

Kai nodded, turning left onto the sidewalk. Jingfei let his arms swing in the warm weather. Jingfei liked the spring. He liked the pretty flowers and the bright sun. It was the best.. Plus, he got to see his squirrel friends back at the cafe. He could still give them food. It was a nice time of the year.

Kai walked slightly in front of Jingfei, still holding onto the vampling's hand, even though it wasn't necessary. "So, you didn't tell me something, yet." Kai starts. He doesn't look back at Jingfei, instead continuing to look forwards. Jingfei frowned for a moment. "What did I not tell you?"

The night before Jingfei explained everything to the curious, and questioning, Kai. He explained how vampires work, what they can and can't do, the council, his friends, everything. Well, everything that Jingfei himself knew. Which seemed like a lot. However, it seemed he didn't tell Kai everything.

He wasn't worried about talking to Kai. He used to be when Kai first found out, but then he didn't. Kai made sure of that. He was both understanding, and calm, when Jingfei explained to him things that most humans didn't know. He thought Kai would push him away and call him a monster, however instead he only pulled Jingfei closer and confronted him. It was something Jingfei had never thought Kai would do.

Kai shrugged and clicked his tongue. "You don't have to tell me this, but I just want to know. How did you become a vampire?" Kai asked. Finally he looked back at Jingfei, only for a moment. He didn't necessarily smile, nor did he say anything else, allowing the question to float in the air.

Jingfei thought for a moment. "Well, I got hit by a car.." Jingfei answered truthfully. Kai snorted. "Of course you did." He chuckled. Jingfei's mouth was open for a moment before he snatched his hand away, hitting Kai's arm. Did Kai really think Jingfei was clumsy? Jingfei wasn't clumsy, was he? He didn't really fall or anything. He looked both ways, and stepped onto the dark street. It wasn't his fault Wei's headlights were off!

Kai's blond hair floated in the wind as he turned around to look at Jingfei. His eyes gave a sincere blue tone as he looked directly into Jingfei's blue ones. He didn't look annoyed or bored, and he didn't say anything. His hair fell slightly over his face from the smooth turn, his roots darkened even more from when Jingfei last noticed. His light pink lips showed a light frown, of worry and sadness. He reached down to grab Jingfei's hand, holding it in between his own. His skin was pale, yet not as ghostly as Jingfei.

Kai continued to stay silent, turning around and walking once again as if nothing had happened. But the damage was done. Jingfei looked down shyly, following Kai's slight tug of his hand every now and then into a direction. Did Kai want to hold Jingfei's hand. Why? Why would Kai want to hold JINGFEI'S HAND?!

"So, I'm going to make an assumption that the house is black and looks really nice?" Kai asked, slowly walking to a stop. Jingfei slowly lifted his head to look at Kai, before looking up at the building they were standing in front of. It was Wei's house. "How did you know?" Jingfei asked, looking over at Kai, who shrugged. "It reminds me of those guys you were with." He answered casually, looking over at the house once again.

Jingfei hummed. "Makes a lot of sense." Jingfei says, before walking up to the house, pulling Kai with him. Jingfei didn't go to the door, instead walking to where a window was. He crouched down into the grass, making sure to not get Kai's clothes dirty. The window was cracked slightly, allowing Jingfei's hand to slip in and open the blinds, just enough for Jingfei to see.

Lin Feng wouldn't exactly be able to explain to someone what was happening. All he knew was now he was at the vampire's house, with a dead vampire laying on their couch. It was a weird experience for any, sure, but for Lin Feng, it was a confusing one.

"A vampire hunter that doesn't actually hunt vampires… I'm not gonna ask." Yuao said. Supposedly, a guy by the name of Bambang worked with hunters, and was a hunter himself. But he also wasn't anymore. Once again, confusing. Bambang shrugged, stepping forwards and towards the dead girl. "Eh, you could say that." He shrugs calmly.

He tilts the girl's head up, scanning over her body. "Yeah, no. This wasn't the work of a hunter." Ying sighed, crossing his own arms. He nodded slightly. "Of course it isn't." He muttered, sitting himself on the edge of the island. Yuao seemed concerned, holding his hands behind his back. "Why is that?"

Bambang looked up towards the elder. "First of, it would be stupid for a hunter to slash the girl's face this much. Even when they take a picture, no one can identify her, and so the hunter wouldn't get any money. And even if they did, it wouldn't be much-"

"So it was a vampire?" Yang asked, standing beside Wei. Lin Feng felt like a vampire. A vampire that hated vampires… it was weird. But so was the situation. "Not exactly. It could be a enragee." Bambang explains, standing up. Lin Feng looked confused. Not more French. "Enragee?" Lin Feng asked, looking down at the girl before up at Bambang.

"An Enragee is a human that hates vampires. They don't want to get money from killing vampires, instead they usually do it for revenge." Wei explains, looking over at the vampling. Lin Feng took a moment, before slowly nodding. Yuao hummed. "It does seem like an Enragee. Why would a vampire go so hard to kill this girl? Unless she was in some sort of gang."

Chan took a slow step forward, as Bambang took a step back. He lifted the girl's arm that laid limp on the couch, dragging a line across her arm. It was a dark line, a scar line. From a silver blade. Yuao had told him this before. If a vampire gets sliced by a silver blade, a scar remains.

"Adeline.." Chan whispered. He lowered the girl's hand, standing up himself. "Her name is Adeline. She fought back in the Vampire Wars. That's where she got attacked and only came out with a scratch. Her name is Adeline. She's an old friend of mine.." Chan explained further, continuing to look down at the girl's face. "You recognise her?" Ying asked, staring curiously at Chan.

He slowly nods. "Yeah. She wasn't a part of any gangs, she always laid low. She would never kill a person, never kill anyone. She would drink the blood of animals, never humans. After the wars she disappeared though." His voice trailed off before sighing. "The person who did this couldn't have known her." He explained. Lin Feng slowly took all of this in.

This girl is Adeline. And she was practically an elder. But, she didn't hurt a person. So why would she be attacked so harshly? Why would someone do such a time consuming thing to Adeline. Chan sighs, stepping back. "Whoever did this, vampire or Enragee, must hate every vampire that walks the Earth. Not caring if they get caught. They just want to see all the vampires burn." Chan mumbles.

Lin Feng took a moment, before looking up at the group. "Is this person a threat?" Lin Feng asked. He wasn't worried or scared. He didn't fear for his life either. Instead, he wondered if this was something others should know about. If this was something, someone else should be scared of. Bambang shakes his head. "No. No way.." He starts.

"This Enragee is unskilled, as most. The go off of emotions, obviously. They probably slashed her neck and let her bleed out before cutting her up." Bambang explained. It was gruesome, as was the sight, but it was also informational. Lin Feng nodded, tilting his head down. As he did, he caught a glimpse of something. Something from the side of the room. He looked over at the window, seeing the blind slightly turned up, someone peeking through. Before he could know who it was, the blind shut.

Lin Feng was quick, walking over towards the vampire hunter's bag that laid on the edge of the couch, taking a sharp silver knife. His name was called by many, but he continued walking. He opened the door to the bright sun, turned sharply and pointed the silver object at the two people that sat in front of the window.

At first he didn't recognise either of them, but then he saw Jingfei's worried face. He stared at the young vampire for a moment, before sighing. "Fucking shit, don't scare me like that." Lin Feng muttered. He looked at Kai before rolling his eyes. He dropped the knife, reaching down to grab Jinfei's arm. He didn't care so much of Kai, practically ignoring him as he pulled the vampling up. He yanked his arm into the house, Jingfei not daring to pull back.

"I found a snooper." Lin Feng announced.
