Chapter 48: The Dead

Yang watched as Jingfei and Kai walked out. He ran towards them. "Can I come with you?" Yang asked curiously. He recognised Kai. He was the guy that gave him his drink at Jingfei job. JIngfei shrugged, hugging himself. He looked over at Kai, who shrugged. Yang didn't know exactly what to do, but it was obvious Jingfei was upset about something.

Yang walked over, giving Jingfei a big hug. He wrapped his arms around Jingfei's shoulder, laying his head on his shoulder. "Are you worried about them?" Yang asked, his voice soft and calm. JIngfei didn't say anything for a moment, a Yang thought he had done to much. But soon, Jingfei hugged back, making Yang smile.

"Yeah.."

Jingfei whispered into Yang's ear. Of course he was. There was an Enragee running around Hong Kong, threatening the vampire's lives. Yang would be scared too. But he knew that Chan, Ying, and Wei were strong enough to fight against anything. "They'll be fine. They are strong." Yang said calmly. He let go first, the vampire taking his time with the hugs before letting go himself. Yang heard a sarcastic yawn coming from behind him, and when Yang turned around he saw Yuao's vampling, Lin Feng. He knew little about Yuao, only what Ying and Chan had told him. Which were two opposite.

Chan said that Yuao was a nice guy. Him and Chan were best friends for a very long time, and were both in the Vampire Wars. After Chan sacrificed his life for Yuao , they became best friends. Yang didn't know if they talked much anymore, but it seemed that they were still close. Chan would tell Yang stories of the crazy fun adventures of Chan and Yuao.

Ying knew Yuao since before he was a vampire. Yuao used to work at a refuge that Ying did as well. Ying rarely talked about Yuao, and rarely talked about himself before he was a vampire. But from what Yang could gather, there was some sort of altercation between him and Yuao when Ying first became a vampire.

Yang knew Lin Feng was a vampire, sure. It was obvious for someone who had been around vampires for half of his life. His red eyes, his sharp fangs, at this point those were the first features Yang would look at in a person. It told him everything about the vampire in a matter of seconds.

However, for Yuao to be Lin Feng's protectrice, it made him worry. Not necessarily because Lin Feng might get hurt, or Yuao might be bad. But instead, because a conflict might happen. Between Lin Feng and Ying, or between Ying and Yuao, it didn't matter. Yang knew there was something more than what led on, well he had a feeling. He just didn't need an argument to ruin everything.

"You two love birds are going to get on my nerves." Lin Feng said, crossing his arms. Yang looked over at Lin Feng with a disgusted look, while Kai sighs. "What are you doing? Shouldn't you be talking with your cult?" Kai huffed. Did Lin Feng and Kai not like each other. Lin Feng huffed, not backing down.

"And? Shouldn't you be flipping dough or something?"

"Coming from the guy whose mom owns the bakery."

"Wow, you really want to risk your life?"

"Try me Lin-"

JIngfei stepped between the two, placing his hands on Lin Feng's shoulders. "Let's calm down, okay?" Jingfei gives Lin Feng a calm smile but Lin Feng huffs, shrugging Jingfei's hands away. Yang quietly watches the situation, his eyes going to Kai, who had backed away from the situation. For a moment,m his eyes looked with Yang, before he looked away.

"Are you coming along?" Yang asked Lin Feng, the vampling staring at Jingfei. He didn't answer at first, the two vamplings staring at each other, as if they were in their own world. "Lin Feng." Yang called again. Lin Feng looked over, alert of his surroundings once again. Yang repeated his question. "Are you coming with us?" Yang asked.

Lin Feng scanned the group, huffing, before nodding. "I guess I'll go with you." He huffed one more time, before walking out the hose, the back way of course. Jingfei walked out after, then Kai, before Yang left last, shutting the door behind him. "So, what did the girl look like?" Kai asked, looking over at Yang.

Yang sighed, walking towards the edge of the gate. "Adeline? She was slashed and burned to death. If you have seen what a vampire looked like when they get touched by the sun, then you know what she looked like. Just worse." Yang explained calmly. Jingfei looked down at his hands, before chuckling awkwardly. "Whoops.."

Yang looked over. "Did you burn yourself? How?" Jingfei had his necklace on. Jingfei scratched his head. "I was sleeping and uh… well the curtains weren't closed.." Jingfei said. Yang smiled, laughing slightly. "I shouldn't be shocked." Yang said with a sigh, leading the group into the woods. Technically it was a miniature forest that led to Cloud View Road.

"Hey! What does that mean?" Jingfei asked, both hurt and with a soft laugh. Kai giggled, rolling his eyes. "It means you can't be alone." Kai said, nudging Jingfei's shoulder. Lin Feng snorted. "It means your clumsy." The vampling added as the stepped across a small creek. Yang gasped, shaking his head. "No! I didn't mean that!" Yang said defensively. However, he wasn't exactly lying.

Lin Feng scoffed. "Yeah right."
