Chapter 50: The Sun

Jingfei hugged Kai once more, before waving as he walked into the apartment. He sighed, turning around to look at LIn Feng, who had a bored look on his face. "You two are good friends?" He asked, his tone neutral. Jingfei shrugged. "I guess." Jingfei answered as Lin Feng stared at him for another moment before looking away. He began walking away, Jingfei quickly catching up with the vampling.

"Sooo…" Jingfei started, the boy crossing his arm. "Your hair." Jingfei pointed out, mostly as a topic changer. Lin Feng looked off guard for a moment before shrugging. "Yeah, I dyed it." Lin Feng said simply, continuing to walk at his fast pace. Why was he walking so fast?! JIngfei kept up, however, nodding along to LIn Feng's short words.

"It looks nice on you. The red fits well." Jingfei compilented. Lin Feng didn't say anything after that, silence filling the two vamplings. Jingfei didn't know where they were walking to, and he had a feeling Lin Feng didn't either. Just walking to walk. That wasn't a bad thing. He looks towards the road. "We have our shift in a couple of hours." Jingfei points out. Jingfei started at ten, and if Lin Feng was going to also work with him, they would have to go at the same time.

Lin Feng groans. "Fine." Lin Feng muttered. Jingfei smiled, skipping slightly. "You wanted to work your shift with me." Jingfei pointed out. JIngfei wasn't just going to skip his shift, unless something serious was happening. Which, nothing was. At least, not right now. "No I didn't." Lin Feng huffed. Jingfei turned his head to Lin Feng, but the older vampire was looking out towards the road. Jingfei didn't say anything, looking away.

The walk was silent for a good moment, both boys not saying a word. Jingfei, however, didn't mind it so much. He liked the silence, mostly because he heard the footsteps of someone else beside him, just as silent as Jingfei. Jingfei's life was usually both wild and chaotic. And he loved it. He didn't mind the chaos. But now, walking with Lin Feng by his side, someone who seemed to also enjoy chaos, the silent walk of no words meant a lot to Jingfei.

The walk was silent.

The walk was great.

Yet, all great things have to come to an end. In the mist of the silence, Jingfei heard the soft sound of tapping. At first he thought it was his own footsteps, or maybe Lin Feng. However, the footsteps became louder, the sound echoing off the shallow buildings. It wasn't coming from either Lin Feng or Jingfei. Instead, it was coming from behind them. Jingfei turned around, just in time to see someone racing towards them at full, jumping up and tackling Jingfei to the ground. Jingfei hit the concrete with a big groan as the person, no vampire, hissed at him.

Jingfei didn't know how to fight a vampire. Hell, he didn't know how to fight a human! But with all of his vampire strength, Jingfei lifted his legs, kicking out with brute force to the vampires abdomen, the rabid vampire being launched back. "Casse." Lin Feng muttered, reaching out a hand to Jingfei, who grabbed it mercifully. He lifted himself up from the ground, as the Casse across from them did the same.

It limped slightly, it's back hunched over and knees bent. It didn't walk like a normal vampire, and it didn't say a word, only groaning and huffing. "Run." Lin Feng said, but Jingfei kept staring at the creature. It wasn't a vampire, there was no way it was. "Come on!" Lin Feng yelled, tugging on Jingfei's arm. Finally, Jingfei began running.

He ran as quickly as he could, the pounding footsteps of the Casse making his ears ring as his pace quickened. "Where do you live?" Lin Feng asked, his voice breathless as the two ran, the monster behind them running just as quickly. "Bulkeley Street. On the corner." Jingfei answered, somewhat taken off guard from the question. His eyes looked up at the corners.

Baker. Baker Street. They were close. As the two passed an alleyway, Jingfei stopped, yanking on Lin Feng's arm. "Through here." He yelled, pulling on Lin Feng's arm. The two ran through the long alleyway, and for a moment, they didn't hear a sound. Was the Casse gone. Soon enough, he heard the sound of footsteps running through puddles. "Go!" Lin Feng yelled, beginning to run at full speed once again.

Jingfei saw his building, which only made him run faster. He bolted straight to the door, quickly unlocking it and opening the door. Lin Feng went inside after, shutting and locking the door in the monster's face. Lin Feng panted, turning his head to Jingfei. "Guns. We need guns and knives. That thing's not just a normal vampire." Lin Feng huffed.

Jingfei looked at him, confused. Knives and guns won't work on a vampire. But then he remembered a key feature. Bambang's weapons. "You look in the front, I'll look in the back." It wouldn't be long before that vampire will find a way inside. Jingfei sprinted to the back area of the apartment, opening the closet in the hall. He threw towels and bed linen to find a crate. A locked box. Wherever Bambang hid those weapons.

He then bolted into Jingfei's room, turning on the lights. He crouched to look under Bambang's bed, only to find luggage. Not there. He the checked in Bambang's closet. At first, he couldn't find anything, but a swift glide across a cold metal box created a stinging sensation through out JIngfei's hand. He hissed, stepping back and holding his burned hand. "What the heck?" Jingfei whispered, unhooking some of Jingfei's clothes to get a better view of the box.

It was silver plated, hidden in the shadowed part of Bambang's closet. He heard Lin Feng's voice from behind him. "You found it?" He asked, looking inside the closet. "Uh, yeah. But we need gloves." Jingfei noted. Lin Feng swore to himself, stepping back. Jingfei crossed his arms, thinking for a moment. THat was, before Lin Feng ran out of the room, only to come back a second later.

With oven mitts.
