Chapter 53: The Year Of The Vampires

Another man, Yuao supposedly, stepped out of the room, looking over at Wei. He smiled softly, bowing to Wei, who bows back politely. "Wei, correct?" Yuao asks, placing both of his hands behind his back. Wei nods. "Yeah. Lan Zhang sent me to give you a letter." Wei informs as the man seated hands Yuao a letter. Yuao was the commander of the vampires.

"Here." The man said as Yuao held the envelope in his hand. He slowly unwrapped the envelope, unfolding the letter and reading it. Wei didn't know what was inside the letter. Lan Zhang had simply told him to give it to the commander. He said: "The state of all vampires are in your hands. Give this to the commander of our army, and we shall fight for victory, not defeat." And Wei did as he was told.

Yuao read the letter, before looking up at Wei with eyes that were shadowed. Ones that had thoughts that Wei couldn't quite read. "Was Lan Zhang a scientist?" Lan Zhang, Wei's protectrice was a doctor for vampires, and was well known in the area of Guangxi. Lan Zhang didn't know much about humans, but vampires he knew plenty. He knew things that humans didn't know about themselves.

He taught Wei everything he knew. From biology to anatomy of a vampire. He knew the healthiest blood type for vampires, and he understood why vampires couldn't eat human foods. He knew everything, and wrote it down in books. Books that he had given to Wei. "No, he was a doctor for vampires. A very good one, in fact." Wei said.

Yuao hummed, folding the paper and placing it on the desk, only for the other man to grab it and read the paper. Wei waited for a reaction, but when he didn't get one he stayed quiet. "So, let's say what Lan Zhang is saying is the truth, where would we find such material?" Yuao asked, turning to the other man. He shrugged. "Adeline should know where. She practically knows every vampire in Dali." The man shrugged.

"Chan.."Yuao said worriedly. The vampire looked up at him. "Just saying, she's good at those things. Plus, she's quick." Chan. That's what the other man was named, Chan. Wei quietly remembered the name as Yuao sighed. Wei slipped his hand in to grab the letter, reading it for himself.

Dear Comander,

I come with both great and terrible news. I, Lan Zhang of Guangxi, lay my newly found research in Comander's hands. I have found a rock that will both protect us, and defeat the humans. However, I do not want to see the death of the human race. Instead, I want to see the rise of both of our races, let us live in harmony. I shall trust my hard work unto you, Commander, and I shall tell you my research that will change the world.

The cure to sun death is in a stone loved by none. Pyrope. It is a red stone, similar to the loved ruby. However, this stone changes blood flow in vampires, allowing regeneration to happen so quickly, that not even a faint burn will be felt by the user. Every vampire that allows this jewel to hang on their neck shall feel no harm in the sun's rays.

Yet, with all good things come bad. If you shall dip Pyrope into mercury, you will create what I shall call Coup De Sang. It will make a vampire ten times stronger, ten times faster, they become killer machines. I tell you this to warn Commander. Warn Commander of the threat that comes with using Pyrope. Please, protect this secret. Make sure no one knows of Coup De Sang.

Wei sighed, shaking his head. He looked up at the two elder vampires, listening to their conversation. "We don't need more vampires burning to a crisp, and even if Adeline can find Pyrope and use it, it wouldn't be long before someone finds out about Coup De Sang." Yuao sighs, crossing his arms. The two men stayed silent for a moment, causing Wei to step up.

"What if we use Coup De Sang. Just for a moment. Just long enough for the emperor to get so scared that he ceased fighting." Wei proposed. It wasn't something he had been thinking about for long. But it was obvious the humans thought they were better than vampires, taking advantage of their weaknesses. It was something that all the vampires were obviously annoyed about the limit. Even if vampires are stronger, faster, smarter, yet humans were too ignorant to understand such a thing. Chan looked over at him. "We won't tell anyone how it happened, just say it's some sort of mutation. Threaten the emperor at his doorstep, and let China's Empire fall to our knees." Wei didn't know what he was saying. He just wanted the war to be over, but even he knew he sounded vicious. Yet, the Commander hummed.

"It's not a bad idea. But Lan Zhang warned me for a reason. We must be careful and secretive, only us three and Adeline shall know." Yuao said. Chan looked slightly hesitant, but he nodded. "How about we use vamplings, since they can be controlled by us." There was still a single question going through Wei's head. A question that worried him slightly. They would scare the emperor, but the only thing that could scare an emperor was death.

Yuao crossed his arms, his eyes going to Wei. "Your smart, wanna work with us?" Yuao asked. Work with the commander? Wei thought for a moment, both hesitant and weary. He would be apart of the army that fought wars against his own country. Wei crossed his own arms. "Only if you promise me something." Yuao seemed curious. He nodded along.

"Promise that after we win, we will be at peace with China. Just like Lan Zhang asked."
