Chapter 54: The Year Of The Vampires

Wei walked into the bar, a gun hanging off his hip, and a bag of money in his hand. He scanned the bar, seeing many vampires chatting amongst each other. Wei looked specifically for a vampling, young and smart. His eyes go to a young girl, sipping on a beer of some kind. Wei adjusted a button on his cheongsam, before walking towards the girl. He sits beside her, and it seemed the girl knew what he was here for as soon as Wei walked in. "You're with Beau Mort?" Beau Mort, the official name for the vampire council.

Wei sharply shook his head. "Technically I am only an ally. I work with them, not for them." Wei explains, as the girl scoffs, rolling her eyes. "What, do you need more recruits? We aren't going to win this war. There is to many of them, and to little of us. We will die as soon as they feel threatened enough." The girl looked tiredly at Wei. "You seem young, why are you risking your life."

Wei wasn't a vampire, but he hasn't been a vampire for that long, only for one hundred- twenty two years, which was barely anything. It was old in human years, but for a vampire like Yuao, it was barely anything. It seemed this girl was old to. Yet she wasn't as old at Wei. "Eh, I wouldn't say I'm young. Your younger than me. Your a vampling." Wei pointed out, placing the bag of money on the counter. The girl laughed and scoffed.

"I'm barely a vampling. Just a few more years." She sighed, taking another sip of her beer. Wei nodded, beginning to unzip the bag of money, slowly to not shock the girl. "Well, there is a new drug that can make vampires unstoppable. The sun wouldn't even sting. Incredible, huh?" Wei asked, crossing his arms. The girl looked over, both hesitant and weary.

"Do you want me to buy something? If your advertising it, I'm not buying anything." She huffed, turning away. Wei laughed, shaking his head. "No, no. I am not advertising anything to you. And I don't want you to buy anything from me." He grabs a rubberband of money, placing it between him in the girl. "I actually want to pay you."

The girl turned to look at hm, her eyes going straight to the money. She widened her eyes, ready to grab the colorful stacks of money, only for Wei to quickly grab the stack. "Not yet. I just need you to do me a small favor." Wei said, sliding cash to himself. "What is it?" The girl asked. Her voice was now tense, yet her voice tipped at the end. It was like a fish on his hook.

"Take the drug. Help Beau Mort get to the palace. The guards won't stop you, no one will. There is no chance of you getting hurt. And you may even be able to get some blood." Wei shrugged, smiling. Lan Zhang had taught Wei a way for him to get blood without hurting a single person. But now that Lan Zhang was gone, Wei couldn't do it until he becomes a nurse, and there were many other things that he needed to do before he could learn to be a nurse just like Lan Zhang. And settling this war was one of them.

The girl sighed, sitting back in her seat. "Is there a risk of me getting sick or dying from the drug?" The girl asked, her mouth going into a thin line, Wei smiled, shaking his head. He sighed, crossing her arms. Technically the answer was no. Yuao had been working with some vampire scientists that work for the Beau Mort to find any safety problems, and so far no. However, not everything had been tested. But they needed people, so Wei would have to lie this one time, even if Lan Zhang would be disappointed in him.

Wei smiled and shook his head. "No, everything is safe."

"ADELINE!!!!" Wei groaned, his eyes slowly opening. Who yells that loud? Why were they calling Adeline's name? Wei placed a pillow over his head, but when he heard his door open he sighed. That could only be one person. "Wei! Wei! Come on!" Chan yelled loudly, pulling on Wei's covers. Wei slowly lifted the pillow, seeing Chan with a tiger mask over his head. It was a masquerade mask, with a black and red theme. "Here." Chan tossed him a snake mask with a similar black and red design.

Wei looked confused, but held it in his hands. "Please don't do anything stubid.." Wei sighed, pinching his nose. Chan was already out the door, disappearing from Wei's sight. Wei slid the mask on his face, walking out the door. Yuao sat on the wooden chair, looking down at something placed in his hand. Chan stood calmly by Adeline, who placed a revolver in her holster. "Let's make this clear. I know we're using this red jewel, but I like green ones more. Always have on in my back pocket." She laughed, looking over at Wei. She gave him a short nod.

Over the past month Wei had been working with all three of them to make a plan with no kinks. Nothing to ruin, every possibility mapped out. Wei was slightly confident, yet he was also worried that something else might happen. "So what.. We're just going to waltz in there. Threaten the emperor, then leave?" Adeline asked as the sun began to shine through the darkened curtains. Yuao rolled his eyes. "We'll be shot down in an instant if we did that."

Wei lightly shook his head, crossing his arms. "Actually, no. They wouldn't even think that we're vampires. We have those.." Wei pointed out, gesturing to the four Pyrope crystals that laid on the counter. Chan nodded along with Wei. However Yuao was still hesitant. "I still want the vamplings to threaten some guards, let the emperor get a little scared. Then we'll talk to him." Yuao explained, grabbing a necklace made out of lace and a Pyrope stone, carved and shaped into Yuao's fang. That was Chan's idea.

Wei grabbed his, wrapping and typing it around his neck. Adeline, who already had hers on, crossed her arms. "Now boys, are y'all ready?"
