Chapter 64: The Dark

Jingfei couldn't see what the man on the other side of the door was thinking. If it was a betrayal look, or if he was finally happy that he got caught. Kai was silent, stepping back to let the group in, but only Jingfei stepped into the apartment. Ying was ready to grab his arm, but Jingfei yanked it away. "He won't kill me. I don't need all of you." Jingfei said simply.

Jingfei walked inside, keeping his shoes on. He didn't look at Kai, but gestured in front of him with the gun. "Walk in front of me." Jingfei stated softly, his voice slightly sad. Kai stared at the boy for a moment longer, before stepping in front of him. "Is this a robbery?" Kai asked jokingly, but Jingfei didn't answer him. The human stopped talking, leading Jingfei to the room.

Jingfei didn't know what to say to the boy in front of him. Should he say anything? Was there anything to say to the person that killed vampires? Was he a hunter? Was he trying to k8ill Jingfei next? But there was another thing that was aching Jingfei's brain during the short walk to Kai's unclean clothes." Kai was silent, which somewhat hurt Jingfei, but should he really be hurt. He found the person that had been killing vampires around Hong Kong. He finally found them.

Kai opened the door for Jingfei, to which the boy could finally look at him. He didn't know how long he had stared at Kai's eyes, stared into his soul. He used to see pureness, but now, now that Jingfei knew, it was all but that. Jingfei was ready to walk inside, when he remembered how Wei described the boy's death.

"He was killed from behind. Just like Adeline." Wei informed. "Someone grabbed his neck from behind him and slashed his throat. It was a cheap move, sure, but for a human, it was a smart one." Wei sighed, shaking his head.

Killed from behind. As Jingfei stared at Kai, his hand outstretched to open the door, Jingfei shook his head. "Just alk inside." Jingfei mumbled. Kai's frown deepened, though the human nodded, stepping inside himself. Jingfei caught the door before it closed, stepping inside. He scanned the room. Washer, dryer, clothes hanging up. Nothing seemed weird. Nothing seemed out of-"

Jingfei's eyes scanned over a brown colored shirt at the bottom of his laundry basket. Jingfei ran over to it, quickly dumping it over the laundry basket. He went to his knees, scanning over the many different colored clothing, before grabbing the brown garment. On the shirt read SSCS, with a cupcake under the logo.

The shirt was stained with blood.

Jingfie didn't know what to do. Should he scream, cry, yell? Should he act like he didn't see anything? Should he fight Kai? Jingfei couldn't think of anything to do. But soon, a soft laugh escapes his lips. He shakes his head as shallow tears fill his eyes. He stands, balling the stained shirt at Kai, who widened his eyes and quickly dropped the shirt at the sight of blood. "What the hell, Jingfei?! What is that?!" Kai yelled, stepping away from the shirt. He wasn't scared, nor mad, instead he was worried. Jingfei didn't give an answer to the human. Kai should already have one.

Jingfei began walking out of the apartment. What was he to do? Kai didn't know this, but Jingfei couldn't kill him, nor could he hurt the human in any way. He was stuck with staying quiet and loosing a friend. His shoes stopped clicking as he went from tile to carpet, before exiting the apartment. Kai, however, was quick behind him. "Jingfei!" Kai yelled hopelessly, grabbing onto his arm. Jingfei stopped, only meters away from the door. He sadly looked up at Wei and Ying, who gave him sad looks in return. He didn't have anything else to say to Kai. But he would love to hear Kai's reasoning.

"What?" Jingfi asked, looking back down and at the corner, where he could see Kai's arm. Kai was quick to answer. "I don't know what's happening. I don't know why there is a blood filled shirt in my laundry, I don't know why you are so mad, can you just explain?" Kai asked, his grip on Jingfei loose. Jingfei swallowed the knot in his throat, shutting his eyes for a few moments before sighing. "Why should I talk to a murderer like you?" Jingfei questioned, yanking his hand away.

He walked out the door, not saying a word to any of the others, and instead walking. He didn't know how far he walked and he didn't know where he walked to. No one followed, no one asked where he was going, so he just walked. Walked to where he could see the ocean or sea, walked until he could see mainland China in the distance, walked until his brain and legs gave up from pressure. Walked unti9l he hit the doors of Sweet Serve Coffee Shop.

He looked up through the glass doors and saw Lin Feng casually leaning on teh cash register. Yi Na stood on the other side, talking to the vampling about something that seemed nice. Something that seemed not important. Yang was right about that. Jingfei needing to take a break from all the important political problems. He wasn't an elder, he needed to enjoy his life as a vampire for just a little bit. When Lin Feng looked up and saw JIngfei, he smiled slightly. Jingfei, however, didn't smile back.

Jingfei opened the doors, a soft bell that he knew a loved one rang through the store. Yi Na smiled and greeted Jingfei. "Hey, Jingfei! Your not on the schedule this week for days, are you? Your next shift is in a couple of hours." Yi Na questions, sipping on her coffee. Jingfei propped up a fake smile, nodding his head. "Yes, ma'am. I just wanted to see Lin Feng, that's all." Jingfei answered. Yi Na smiled, looking between Jingfei and her son for a moment before nodding. "Hm, okay. I think that's good that your hanging out more." She leaned in to whisper in Jingfei's ear. "He needs some good influence." Yi Na joked, but Lin Fang scoffed, stepping back and crossing his arms. "Rude.."

Yi Na clapped her hands. "Welp, time for me to head to some other stores. It was nice talking to you boys!" Jingfei softly waved as Yi Na exited, before sighing. Lin Fang turned his attention to Jingfei, frowning. 'Are you okay? Did something bad happen?" Lin Fang asked, his voice going soft. JIngfei didn't say anything.

Was it bad? Was it really bad? After all, they had found out who the man that was killing all the vampires were. They found out who he was so they could warn others. The vampires would be slightly safer now, right? But for some reason, a reason Jingfei could not wrap his head around, Jingfei would rather not know who had done all thoughts gruesome murders. Was that so bad of him to think like that?

Jingfei shook his head. "Nothing." Jingfei mumbled. Lin Feng didn't push forwards or kept asking, which Jingfei was very much grateful for. Instead he asked a very important question. One that made Jingfei smile slightly.

"In the mood for Daydream Peaches And Cream vampire edition?"
