Chapter 67: The Dog

Wei's walk was soft as he slid into his booth. It was the same booth he had been using for the past year. The courtroom was similar to that of a regular one, however there was a high chair for the Cinq Masque, and different pews sitting the representatives in front. Right beside him was one of his only new friends, Ah Lam. She sat in her seat, reading a book of her own.

She didn't seem to notice him, so Wei tapped lightly on her shoulder. "Ah Lam, reading Tomorrow, At Dawn again?" Wei assumed that was one of her favorites, since he would continue to catch her reading the book before he got here. Ah Lam looks over and smiles, quickly nodding her head. "It's a beautiful poem." Ah Lam pointed out.

Wei slowly nodded his , agreeing with her. Wei, himself, didn't like poems all too much, however even Tomorrow, At Dawn caught the vampire's attention. Ah Lam sat up, crossing her arms. "If I may, what exactly do you have to say? You are the one who asked for a meeting, correct?" Ah Lam asked, to which Wei nodded his head. "Yes. There were multiple murders by an Enragee, but that isn't the only reason why I'm here." Wei said simply. Ah Lam gave him a look for a moment, before nodding.

Soon enough, Dog arrived, his golden mask wrapped nicely around his face. He sat down in his seat, crossing his legs. He looked around the room, before his eyes go to Wei. "You have asked for a emergency meeting. Speak." Dog stated. So Wei did.

"Recently there had been multiple murders. Some of elders, including Adeline." There were soft gasps and whispers of the elder's desk. Adeline was someone that, though some didn't know her, knew her legacy. "It was an Eragee. He kills by cutting vampires in the throat before letting them burn out. I am tell you all this to warn others, as I do not want more getting hurt from this cause." Wei explained.

The Dog curiously looked up at Wei. "The Enragee, have you found out who they are yet? What was their reasoning?" Dog asked, crossing his arms over his center seat. Wei sighed, nodding his head. "Yes, we have found the Enragee. Xiao Kai. He's a young human, though he's smart and dangerous." Wei informs further, before looking directly at Dog, who looked silently back at him.

"That actually brings me to my next topic. I was wondering if we could look back at some of the strict rules and punishments.' Wei asked politely. Dog adjusted himself in his seat, before his lips turned into a thin line. "Look at the punishments and rules? Why?" Dog asked strictly, to which Wei took a slight moment to breathe before speaking. "Well, I think that some of the laws need adjusting. For example the right that humans can kill vampires." Wei states strongly.

The entire room seemed quiet, and Wei could feel everyone's eyes on him. It was both stressful and somehow strengthened himself. Dog tilted his head, sighing. "Wei, you know why those rules were in place. Human's make a living off of being hunters. We can't stop them from that." Dog explained, his voice calm. Yet there was venom painted and dripped from every word he spoke.

"Wei' s next words came without him thinking. "Human's also make a living off of sex trafficing but that doesn't make it right, does it?" Wei asked sarcastically. It wasn't the politest thing Wei could have said, but it was both honest and realistic. "If vampires and humans really are equal, don't you think vampires should have the same punishments as humans, or vise versa." Wei explains further.

Before he knew it, his friend Ah Lam was standing up next to him, smiling hopefully at Dog. "I agree with him. If we can't hurt humans, why should humans be able to hurt us. Having stricter laws isn't keeping us safe, Dog. It's only hurting us more." Ah Lam stated, her voice strong and powerful as she spoke. Dog's eyes went from patient to anger filled in a matter of seconds.

He glared at both of them. "You two need to be quiet. The laws will not be changed. I do not want to hear foolish things from two inexperienced representatives." Dog hissed shortly. Ah Lam was quick to fire back. "Just because we're inexperienced doesn't mean we don't have a reason. It seems we have more reason in our words than you do-"

"Ah Lam! Hsiao Wei. I will not hesitate to dismiss both of you from this meeting and your represeative duties. I suggest both of you shush now." Dog's words didnt' hide his anger like before. He spit with harshness and only pain, causing Ah Lam to freeze. The look she gave Wei told him exactly what she would do, seconds before she did. She bowed to Dog, before sitting back down in her seat.

An abuse of power, Wei couldn't stand for this. Ah Lam had worked so hard to get such a high ranking, even the threat of it being stolen from her by some asshole in a mask made her sit down. An abuse of power. That's what it was before The Year Of The Vampires. Wei wouldn't let it happen again.

"I don't care what you do to me. In my eyes, this is you excepting your defeat. In my eyes, this is you saying how wrong you really arm. To be so scared of your junior's words, that is what I see. I am sorry that I am the one to speak to you the truth of your actions, but your power must be torn to shreds. Even if it is me that does the shredding. Let this be a reminder that yours commands are worthless and will be lost in history. All that will be remembered of you is your wrong doings-"

"Hsiao Wei! I suspend your time as a representative of the Beau Mort. I command you to leave immediately."

Wei smiles at such words, grabbing his bag. "Dog, let you finally understand you are the scum of the Earth. Beau Mort will fall under your command. Let's hope the fall of the vampires will not come of you." Abuse of power, one of the worst things a person can do in Wei's eyes. As he walks out the doors, he hears something from someone he doesn't know. If it is Dog or Ah Lam, he couldn't tell. But the words made him freeze.

"If only the fall could come sooner."
