Chapter 70: The Dog

Lin Feng's eyes heavily blinks open, sunlight etching it's way into the room. He recognised it. It was the room he pulled Jingfei into. It was his room. He slowly sits up, only for a man to push him back down. "Not yet." Wei said simply, before handing Lin Feng a cup of blood. "Drink this, then you can move around." Wei stated, as Lin Feng looked down at the cup.

He takes hesitant sips, before downing the entire cup quickly. How long had he been asleep? A day? Two? Maybe a week? Was everyone worried about him? Was Jingfei worried? "How long was I out?" Lin Feng asked? Wei looked up from him book, before looking back down. "Two hours." Wei informed. Oh.. guess he wasn't out for that long.

Lin Feng placed the cup of blood onto the side table, before sitting up. Wei sat on a chair at the side of the room. "I didn't know you were a doctor." Lin Feng started awkwardly. Wei glanced up at him again, before back down at his book. It was like the man couldn't look at him for more than a second. "I'[m a nurse. Have been for some time. I used to work on humans, and though I still do, I mostly use my job title to get blood." Wei explained.

"So that's why you always have blood.." Lin Feng thought, before humming. The room became silent again, neither vampire making anymore conversation. Not until Lin Feng got bored once again. Which didn't take too long. "So.." Lin Feng started,. Tapping his hand. Wei shut his book, standing up quickly and placing the book by his side. "What you did was stupid." Wei stated, walking to one side of his bed. Lin Feng shook his head dismissively.

Wei carefully pulled out the iv, breaking the needle. "No, it wasn't stupid. I tried to get the person that had hurt Jingfei. Lin Feng answered simply. Wei looked at him with a strange look., "It was a vampling with Coup De Sang on their neck. The same as the girl who tried to kill Jingfei." Lin Feng stated.

"Also, I know who that girl is. She's the lady who sold me Jingfei's necklace." Lin Feng added. Wei was quiet for moment, staring at the vampire. "The vampling that had killed the store owner was controlled with Coup De Sang. Practically as soon as I took off his necklace, he ran away. I didn't think I could catch him so I went back to you guys." Wei sighed, taking a couple of steps back to lean on the wall.

"But the girl, the store owner she died the same way Adeline and the boy did. She was slashed in the neck and then mutilated. How could you know that was even her?" Wei asked. Lin Feng raised his left arm. "The girl had a tattoo of her daughter's name with a halo on top. Taylor. She told us about that story before we bought the necklace." Lin Feng said. He remembered it perfectly, since that was the name of the store. Taylor's Shop. It almost made in want to cry.

"We?" Wei asked. "Me and Yuao. He took me there to get some stuff butb the lady showed me the necklace." Lin Feng answered. Wei seemed ready to ask another question, when the door opened. JIngfei stood on the other side with a smile on his face. Quickly after Lin Feng was being crushed by JIngfei's body in a tight hug. "Are you okay?" Jingfei asked worriedly.

Butterflies seem to quickly float into Lin Feng's stomach, making him fell light on his feet, but he still nodded happily. "Of course I am. Are you?" Lin Feng asked with a bright smile. Jingfei didn't pull away from the hug, and neither did Lin Feng. "Now that your okay." Jingfei smiled. He leaned back, tilting Lin Feng's head to the side where the cut was from. It was healed, only a slight scar remained. JIngfei rubbed his finger over it. "Don't do that ever again, you scared me." JIngfei murmured softly. Lin Feng smiled and nodding. "I won't."

Jingfei finally moved away from the hug, his warmth leaving as well. Jingfei handed Wei's phone to Wei. "Chan told me to give it to you. He said it might be important." Jingfei explained, Wei quickly holding his phone. The room was silent as both vamplings watched Wei open the phone, quietly reading the message. His eyes quickly turned to Lin Feng.

"What was the store owner's name?" Lin Feng was caught off guard by the question, though he quickly raked his mind for an answer. "Uh.. it wasn't a Chinese name. A…" Wei qas quick to answer for him. "Akuji?" Wei asked. Lin Feng quickly nodded. "Yeah, Akuji. Why?' Lin Feng asked curiously. Wei had a grim expression on his face as he lowered his phone to the bed.

"Akuji was the Ox."

Lin Feng's eyes were wide. "The Ox? Like from the Cinq Masques?" Jingfei asked quickly. Wei slowly nodded. "Yeah. Now all there is left is Dog, Snake, Tiger, and Horse." Wei said with a sigh. Lin Feng slowly stood up, his side still slightly sore. Jingfei tried to help him, but Lin Feng stopped the vampling. 'I'm fine." Lin Feng said, before rolling out his shoulders. He looked over at Wei. "Do yout hink that the person who came after Jingfei, the elder, has been commanding other vamplings to kill vampires?" Lin Feng asked.

Wei slowly nodded his head. "That's what it seems like. But it looks like their trying to warn us of what's happening." Wei explained. Jingfei frowned, shaking his head. "They are being used as puppets.." He mumbled. Lin Feng placid a caring hand on Jingfei's shoulder. "Let's go."

・‥…━━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━━…‥・

Jingfei sat on the couch next to Bambang, who had an arm around him. Lin Feng sat next to him, with his head on Jingfei's shoulder. Chan and Wei were softly talking about Ox's death, as well as the situation as it slowly unfolded. But only one thing was going through his mind.

If an Elder was forcing vamplings to go out and kill vampires, then that meant that there was no Enragee. And Kai was innocent. Jingfei curled himself into a weak ball, looking down at the floor. Uness Kai had something to do with it, but he didn't. So then why was his shirt there. Why was it all bloodied in his apartment. Nothing made sense anymore. The story that they had thought was correct was much more complicated then it seemed.

Ying, who noticed Jingfei's expression, walked over to the vampling. He crouched into Jingfei's view. "Are you okay?" Ying asked his with a soft frown. Lin Feng lifted his head, looking over at JIngfei. "Do you guys still think Kai is involved?" Jingfei asked. LIn Feng widened his eyes, stepping into the conversation. "What? Kai is involved in this? Like our Kai? What do you mean?" Jingfei forgot that he hadn't told Lin Feng about Kai, but now was the time to do it.

Jingfei turned his head over to Lin Feng. "We found this vampire in an alleyway. His body was still warm, meaning the killer must have done it right before we found him. It seemed that he had fought back, and a piece of Kai's shirt was found in his hand, ripped from the original shirt. When we went over to his apartment, the shirt was all bloodied in his laundry bin." Lin Feng was silent as Jingfei explained the situation, before shaking his head. "When did this happen?" Lin Feng asked. Ying answered quickly. "Two days ago. Towards the morning. Why?" Ying asked.

Once again, Lin Feng was silent, this time not speaking up for another minute or so. "Kai couldn't have killer. He was at work with me. I remember it clearly cause we were… arguing. But he didn't get off of work at all until noon." Lin Feng answered. Jingfei seemed confused. "So why was his shirt there?" JIngfei asked worriedly. Ying scoffed, shaking his head.

"They tried to frame him. Probably because Jingfei would have known who it was quickly. Maybe the elder knew we were getting close." He was.. Framed? Jingfei was mad at him, had hurt him, for no reason. Jingfei quickly stood up frim his seat, knocking Ying back slightly. "I have to apologize." Jingfei said quickly. Lin Feng looked over. "Do you want me to come?" Lin Feng asked sincerely, however Jingfei still shook his head.

"No, I need to do this."
