Yang's footsteps were silent, as were Lin Feng's. The two had been walking for some time through the forest. At first, they were walking towards the boat as Wei had told them too. But then they saw Chan, walking away from the group. Lin Feng wanted to go back to the boat, but Yang didn't. So, after some begging, Lin Feng decided to walk with Yang.
He knew Bambang and Wei would be pissed, but he wanted to know where Chan was going. And if he was going to get hurt. "Yang?" Lin Feng asked after some silence. Yang looked over, humming in response to him name being called. He didn't follow Chan closely behind, some space between the vampires. "Do you think Jingfei's alright? He looked scared." Lin Feng asked, a slight frown on his face.
Yang sighed, slowly down his pace slightly. He looked over at Lin Feng, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Jingfei is fine. Ying and Wei wouldn't never hurt him, you know this." Yang said optimistically, patting Lin Feng on the shoulder. The two weren't the closest, Jingfei usually being the median between the two. Either being brothers or lovers, that's mostly what Yang and Lin Feng talked about. But now that the two were alone, there seemed to not be much to talk about.
"So, how did you get turned into a vampire?" Yang asked, looking over at Lin Feng. The boy was silent for a second, letting stray sand from the beach be kicked up. "Well, I don't know. All I remember was going home from work, and these guys with masks asking for money. I didn't have any. Yuao explained that they attacked him. He also explained that one must have been a vampire, so they turned me. Maybe to get away from the council finding out." Lin Feng mumbled.
Yang hummed in silent understanding. He didn't hug Lin Feng fully, instead giving the oldest vampling a hug. "So, what did Yuao teach you? Did he teach you something evil? How to kill humans or something?" Yang asked. Lin Feng was silent. Yang frowned. Did he go too far? He didn't mean to. He looked up at Lin Feng. "Sorry, you don't have to answer that." Yang mumbled.
Lin Feng shook his head with a soft smile. "No, no. It's fine. Uh, he didn't teach me that. He taught me how to hunt, how to protect myself and fight. And taught me some history on vampires." Lin Feng answered, nodding his head. Yang looked over at the red haired boy. "Really? He didn't teach you anything bad?"
He could understand if Lin Feng was mad at them. After all, for the first two years of him being a vampire, he was raised by Yuao. So, though Yang didn't know how close the vampling and his protectrice were, he could understand why Lin Feng might be slightly hesitant to talk badly about Yuao. Even though he had hurt many vampires.
"For a while he didn't want me to hunt, actually. He didn't want me to hunt because he didn't want me getting hurt or hurting humans. So he gave me blood." Lin Feng continued as Yang listened carefully. "Like blood bags? How?" Yang asked curiously. Lin Feng shrugged. "He just had them. Maybe he killed humans for me or something." Lin Feng shrugged.
As Lin Feng stopped talking, up ahead Chan stopped walking. At first neither vamplings noticed it, but when Chan turned around they both did. "What are you two doing here?" Chan asked with anger in his voice. Yang awkwardly stood there, not expecting the other to see him. He was mad at them, thats for sure. "Uh… not following you.." Yang said quickly. Chan gave Yang a disappointed look.
"What did Wei tell you guys?" Chan scold. Yang rubbed the back of his head. "We wanted to protect you. And we are allowed to go where we want-" "Yang, I'm following Yuao right now! I can't protect you if anything goes wrong." Chan pointed out. Yang gave him a dull look. "And when did I say you have to protect me?" Yang huffed. Lin Feng seemed quiet, watching the two lightly argue.
Chan let out a sharp sigh. "Why are you doing this, Yang?" Chan asked, crossing his arms. "Because i don't want you going out there to fight him. I don't want to see you hurt, Chan." There was suddenly a loud sound. Echoing through the forest and beaches surrounding the area. A gun shot for sure. Chan turned around. Before Yang could stop him, Chan started running. Running towards danger.
Yang and Lin Feng made eye contact for a short moment. Lin Feng nodded, before Yang began running after the vampire. "Chan!" Yang yelled with all his breath as he ran. The tsavorite, however, made Chan's run to fast for him to catch up. Not until the elder suddenly stopped. Yang only ran faster, catching up to him.
He stood at the edge of the forest, it's green blending into tan as sand surrounded the lush green forest. Yang grabbed Chan's arm before he could go out there. "Don't." Yang mumbled. He couldn't see Chan hurt. He couldn't bare it. The thought of Chan with blood running down his face. Barely being able to stand. It was a stab in the heart for Yang. A stab he couldn't survive. "Please."
"Yang."
"Please, Chan. Don't get yourself hurt."
"Yang. Let go."
Yang didn't. He couldn't. He muscles continued to tense in a certain way to keep his grip on Chan. No matter what he saw, no matter what he heard. He still loved Chan. "Chan,I'm not going to. Not until you promise me you won't go." Yang demanded, looking Chan in the eyes. Chan's face was frozen, but Yang couldn't decipher it like other times. He couldn't do that.
"Yang, i can't promise you that."
"Them I'm not letting you go."
Yang had the urge to tell Chan everything. Tell him how much he loved the other. Tell him how much he welcomed the other whenever he was close. And how much he needed Chan on the days he was far. Chan only stared into Yang's eyes. He wasn't hurt, but he still had so much pain and sorrow. Grief and negligence. All in a single look.
Chan quickly leaned down, giving Yang a deep kiss. A kiss with so much emotion, yet no words were said. A description, a definition of an unknown word. Something that warmed and cooled all of Yang's thoughts. It was reassuring. Chan wouldn't be hurt, and Yang wouldn't feel like he would be stabbed. He knew he would be safe and sound. That's what the kiss felt like.
But even Yang knew the real reason Chan gave him that kiss.
