Yang reached out for Chan, but the vampire was a little to far for yang to grab. Chen's lips still tingled from the kiss, desraction the vampire from his task. He stepped out onto the desert, his converses and trousers hiding many weapons and protective armor. A green crystal hung at his neck, shaking slightly with each step Chan took.
Yuao wasn't facing him. Instead, he sat on a live guard chair, looking out at the ocean. Yuao seemed to know Chan was there, but he didn't turn around. Chan had a chance right now. A chance to grab a gun and shoot his best friend of centuries in the head. Right then and there. Yuao sighed. "You know, Chengdu has grown up since the last time we saw it, right?" Yuao asked casually. He didn't turn around.
Chan didn't reach for his gun.
Yuao was silent, waiting for Chan's answer. But Chan didn't have one. Chengdu had grown up. Had started as a capital, and still held that position. But now concrete streets instead of long halls. Min Jiang however, stayed the same from the last time Chan had seen the rushing water. "Hm? No answer?" Yuao asked.
He finally turned around, looking over at Chan. A golden necklace did not hang from his neck like the others thought. The orange-yellow color of citrine didn't appear to shine brightly as it had in the photos. Instead, a dark red one. Pyrope or topaz, Chan couldn't tell. But that didn't matter right now. All he knew was that the vampire didn't have a powerful crystal like Chan did.
"You know, I didn't know Jingfei knew the little girl. I honestly didn't. I didn't know if the gem would float or not. Jingfei stood up and played the game with me. Either way, I do believe the girl would have died. If he protected her, or if he killed her." Yuao clicked his tongue, stsanding up. "Your prized vampling, the one with a good soul, a good heart. Became a casse, are you shocked? I am." Yuao laughed softly.
Chan didn't laugh with him.
Yuao sighed at the silence, shaking his head. He pulled the chair back. "This won't do, would it. You seem so sad. So quiet. That can't be right. You kissed the one you love, right? The one you talked about so much. Shouldn't you be blushing and cheering happily?" Yuao asked. Chan emotionlessly pulled out a short range gun, pointing it at Yuao. "You captured that person. You kidnapped him-"
"I SAVED HIM. If it wasn't for me, he would truly be dead. Your lucky some vampires found him for me. I haven't even sent them out to look for him." His gun shook in his hand as he held it up, not daring to lowering it for a break on his muscles. Not now. He had some words he had thought about saying to Yuao. Some words he wanted to say. However, he had forgotten all of them. So now he had to speak from the heart.
"You did all of this, to look like the hero? To look like the one that had saved all of the humans. If their scared of vampires, their scared of you, Yuao. Don't you understand?" Chan asked, looking into Yuao's dark eyes. "Many have told me that before. But the interesting part, is that their all wrong. Once I get rid of you, I'll be able to get rid of every vampire that dare walk this Earth with pride. I would have saved the humans from the most threatening thing in this world."
Chan sucked in a deep breath, only to let it go shakily. "You turned your back on your own kind, on your own people! On me! And you dare look up at me with pride!? You should be ashamed that you decided to kill the only ones that truly had your back!" Chan yelled angrily. Yuao clicked his tongue and shook his head, like a mother listening to their child talk.
Yuao took a slow step towards him. "See, that's where your wrong. You didn't have my back. I went missing, what did you do? I talk to you, what do you do? We talked for five minutes at the bar, before you ran away with that hunter! And you have the audacity to say you had my back!?"
"How dare you tell me I turned my back on my own people, when you turned your back on me! For what? Some new kid who came from Dali?! Some fashion designer?! Little vamplings?!" Yuao stopped talking, sighing. "Look in the mirror and say that to yourself before saying it to me." Yuao said with venom.
Chan stared at him. He wasn't wrong, was he. Whenever the two talk, it would always end up in something Chan needed. When Yuao did go missing, Chan didn't do much to find him. The vampire that the other had disappeared on purpose. He went missing on purpose for hundreds of years. But they were best friends since they were human, Chan should have looked for him. Should have stayed in contact with him. Should have done so much more than what he did.
So much more than nothing.
"I- I'm-" "Sorry?' Yuao asked. When did he get so close to Chan. His arm finally swung down to his side. He was ashamed of himself. "Don't say something like that to the villain, it will hurt the pride. The reputation you have built over the years as the amazing, fun, and strong elder everyone dreams to be." Yuao said. He wasn't angry anymore, but darkness still lurked behind his words.
Yuao reached down, grabbing Chan's wrist that held the gun in his hand. Chan was ready to yank his hand, only to realize Yuao pulled the gun up to point it at him. Chan stared him slight confusion. "We shall see who really deserves that title of strong." Yuao stated with a smile.
"Shoot me."
