Naruto didn't know a lot about the island, but he knew how immense it was. It was actually just one island out of a group, a cluster of near and somewhat loosely knit islands--An archipelago.
He knew because of the watchtowers he brought down with the big encampment yesterday. He had climbed it and looked around.
AWOOO~~!!
"Are you gonna be okay by yourself, mom?" A level 2, howling island wolf, was facing the still naked Kushina when Naruto asked.
Hitting her fists, snapping her knuckle joints, she didn't look intimidated by her brand-new and premier opposer in this place.
"Of course! Why wouldn't I? It's just doleful how I can't seem to gather any chakra here!"
"You spoke about some Haki thing, right?! What should that be?"
Kushina told off with a smile. She was exuding confidence, gravitas. Arrogance, perhaps.
Naruto was about to remind her not to underestimate her enemy and have her focus decline, but he recalled how she couldn't die as long as he didn't.
His mom wasn't soft, she was a Kunoichi. Injuries that he could heal with the Pokecenter were nothing to them.
He was relaxed when the drooling wolf growled again and ran to pounce at her with anxiousness, savagery and starvation in its glare.
Naruto walked to the side, away from the fight, telling his mom, "That Haki stuff's something we got to figure out. I was counting on you and auntie, since you're probably both smarter than I am…"
BANGG~~!!
Kabooomm~~!!!
Kushina didn't reply immediately, she focused and moved like a wraith.
At that time, Naruto had her side view.
His mom was frowning intemperately and scurvily when she made a huge noise with her fists. Acting prompter, she whacked the misfortunate wolf on its head with an adroit, deafening thud.
Slammed down, the wolf's--the lone wolf's misery--which probably wasn't as lone as they thought, got pummeled a few times more.
AWOOO~~!!
"Looks like the dog army's here… What exhausting units…." As if on cue with his thoughts, Naruto heard the sounds he expected to come out in the neighborhood when he sighed and muttered.
"Well, wolves hunt in packs, darling." Misunderstanding her son's words, Kushina explained. Despite her calm, she looked like a demon. Mainly because by the time she said this, she had laid absolute waste to her furred target.
The wolf was beat and motionless, with its head smashed into a red composition. A thick soup that dug and sank into the usually burned-out, gray sand found on waterless soil.
… Kushina, the mother Naruto had never completely understood, had some unforeseen power in her fists.
Killing the beast, she leveled up one time and was now level 2.
GRRaaoo~~!!
"I know. I was just saying... But yeah, with all the ongoing changes you should leave this to me while you still can! Get to some decent form slowly, know what I mean?!" When the noises got closer and closer, Naruto stated and ran in a direction.
Meanwhile, he was shaking his head in secret.
Rather than being worried about his mom--his formidable mom--in reality, he wanted to fight and level up too... Before she became scarier and did more than just remind him of that hardfisted, beefed-up, and mean spirited grandma arriving in two weeks...
Naruto was too lazy to take, steal his own mom's EXP. It was a contemptible move.
"Haha, okay, dear. Do your thing!" Happy, euphoric for a reason Naruto ignored, would preferably not conjecture rather, Kushina nodded and remarked. "I heard about that knifelike tornado power of yours, so I'll just stay back and watch. For now."
'For now, huh...' Accelerating his ninja run, a stance he kept probably out of habit and old custom, Naruto nodded, not looking behind his back, with another inward sigh.
Most of the women he knew were freaks of nature. Or simply freaks. For whatever reason.
... Seconds later. Before the island's predators could think straight.
...WHOOSH~~!!
Whamm~~!!!
Awwuuu, awu~~
In the now sunstruck patch of the pitch-dark jungle which he had run toward, leaped into with his level 4 speed, Naruto made an out-and-out jam of flesh and blood. He too...
Appearing more preoccupied by the trees her son uprooted, displaced and sliced in untidy shares, than the immobile wolves' cadavers laying stiff at his stockinged feet, when equally unshod, non-equally bare, and gory Kushina walked by, she let out.
Like the solid, smashing mom she demoed all the signs she was, she said, "What a hunky-dory mess. Oh, dear..."
"Naruto, where did you find that fruit that gave you those powers? Can I get one?"
Gore all over face, Kushina inquired curiously. Not a wink, an ounce of judgmental content in her expression.
She was certainly an uncommon, out of the ordinary, kind of mother.
When he responded to her question, dodging knowledge, topics he kept to himself, Naruto, who had seen enough, didn't expect any less of her.
By the time the night fell, he was level 8, and she was level 5.
Without him buying or equipping any talent, some of his worries about the power he had yet to study, Haki, also vanished.
There was something about talents and leveling up--a relationship of sorts--he hadn't recognized yet.
He didn't know what that *Armament and *Conqueror's thing were all about. He needed to study the bits of contents, sensitivities swarming his mind and body. ... Whatever was happening, however, it looked like him leaving the island would be more of waiting than anything other.
For grandma Tsunade, at least... Kaguya was another beautiful but most appalling acquisition.
She wasn't scheduled for another year afterwards, either.
